Far Cry 3 Achievement Guide (uPlay)
От AC-130H "Spectre"
Achievements? Gotta catch em all!

Because uPlay is retarded, there are no Steam-Achievements for FC3. Nevertheless, you can still grab your achievments for uPlay! ;) This guide will shortly tell you, how to do so!

About this guide
Just a short introduction to this guide:

There are no Steam-Achievements avaliable for Far Cry 3, because Ubisoft don't want Valve to get into their business. Fortunately, you can still get Achievements - you can find them on uPlay ;)

This guide will teach you, how to get these Achievements. Have Fun and feel free to comment! :)

Please Note:
There are 12 Achievements NOT mentioned in this guide to prevent Spoilers.
You will get them by playing the mainquest, so there is no need to tell you, how to catch these achievements. You just can't miss them! ;)

I'm just telling you: Complete the mainquest and you will have received all of them. As I said, it is not possible to miss them, but I avoid telling you, what will happen as you get these achievements. Just play and have fun! :)

P.S: You might realize in the pictures, that I am German. So feel free to comment about mistakes I made while writing this down. English is not my mother-tongue :P
uPlay - Actions
What are these "Actions"?
On uPlay, there are some kind of Rewards, which you can buy from gamepoints (uPlay-Units). These points are unlocked via Actions - you may know that from EA Origin, Xbox Live or PSN.

There are 4 so called "Actions" availiable on uPlay to complete for FC3. They are equal to four of the achievements, so we can just ignore them here. I will tell you on time, what's required to achive these Actions.
uPlay - Rewards
Things for free! Yeah! :D

uPlay offers you 5 Rewards, which you can buy from your uPlay-Units:
  • The Far Cry 3 - High Tides DLC
  • A Far Cry 3 - Wallpaper
  • A package of tatoos for some "special multiplayer experience"
  • A totally exclusive gun for singleplayer
  • The exclusive "Testing Unit"-mission.

We want to hear about the achievements! Why the ♥♥♥♥ are you telling us about Rewards?!
I'm sorry about that. I just want to give you some advice: Units are not bound to games - they can be used for whatever you want. So if I were you, I would buy the DLC, the exclusive gun and the singleplayer-mission. The Wallpaper and these tatoos are kind of retarded, just save your Units and maybe you will gather profit in other games! :)
uPlay - Achievements (Easy)
Finally! Stop talking so much and tell us, what we want to hear, idiot!
Fine, so here we go ;)

Again:
There are 12 achievements, which I will not tell you about because they are story-related. Just finish the mainquest and you will have got each of them - you cannot miss them! Two of them will also unlock uPlay-Actions.

I guess, these achievements should be self-explaining.

Inked Up
Earn 5 skill tattoos.

You can unlock them by learning skills. In FC3, skills are equal to tattoos.

Money to Burn
Spend $5000 at the shop.

My wife knows, how to do this, very well!

Unheard
Liberate an outpost without triggering an alarm.

Just disable the alarm of an outpost before killing everybody. It doesn't matter, if they see you or not, you just have to make sure, that no reinforcements will ever arrive.

Aftermarket Junkie
Buy all attachments and paint jobs for one weapon.

You can buy attachments and paint jobs from every automated shop. Just remember, that you have to buy paint jobs as well! The best one to choose is the 1911-handgun, which you get at your first mission. It's just owning 6 paintjobs and therefore, 1200$ will be enough. How much will you pay for an achievement? :)

Full Bars
Activate 9 radio towers.

I guess, this should be self-explaining. This one was one of the first achievements I got, because having no map pisses me off.

Archeology 101
Gather a total of 60 relics.

I guess, this should be self-explaining as well. There are 120 relicts in total, but getting half of them is enough to make Ubisoft happy.

Dead Letters
Gather all "Letters of the Lost".

Take a look at your map, FC3 already tells you, where to find them ;)

Memory to Spare
Gather all the memory cards.

You will find them at several outposts. Look for a laptop after liberating one.

Jungle Journal
Unlock 50 entries in the Survivor Guide.

If you keep playing, this achievement will pop up at any time. Players, who are able to miss this achievement, should be rewarded an achievement. Because missing this is extremely hardcore! ;) This achievement is connected to an uPlay-Action.

Bagged and Tagged
Complete a Path of the Hunter quest.

You like killing poor, innocent animals? Go for it...

Poacher
Hunt and skin a rare animal.

If you want to carry more than 12 things, this will be on your to-do-list very fast.
Look for Path of the Hunter-Quests, having a big "RARE" on its display.

Needle Exchange
Craft 25 syringes.

... if they fit into your little syringe-pack is another question not to be answered here. Maybe kill an poor, innocent rare animal to be able to carry more syringes at once. This will also unlock an Action.

Artsy Craftsy
Craft 5 upgrades for your equipment.

Oh well, I told ya. Kill some poor, innocent animals and then craft, craft, craft. May we change about the topic?

Hunter Hunted
Lure and kill a predator.

Thanks. So here you have to ......... kill poor and innocent animals. Ubisoft is so creative ;)
Just allure a predator and then kill it.

Road Trip
Complete a Supply Drop quest.

You will find these quests near radio towers. Completing a radio tower results in getting a new Supply Drop quest.

In Cold Blood
Complete a WANTED Dead quest.

Sounds knife to me! :P

Let the Trials Begin
Beat any Trial of the Rakyat score.

Here or there, you may find a big red stone with a name on it. These are the Rakyat's special-quests: Minigames, where you have to gather more points than your friends (this will be shared online), performing different types of killing. Try it, it's fun! ;)

To get the achievement you're required to beat a score. No matter which score, just beat it.

The Good Stuff
Craft a special syringe.

Oooooooooooh, they are nice! Not beeing able to die for 30 seconds =3
You will unlock this syringe after finding 30 relicts.

Heartless Pyro
Kill 50 enemies with the flamethrower (Single Player only).

Loving to BBQ...

Island Paparazzi
Tag 25 enemies using the camera (Single Player only).

Press C and zoom. You can mark enemies just by looking at them. Keep that in mind while playing, because marking down enemies will make the game much easier!

Fearless or Stupid
Dive more than 60m (Single Player only).

Note, that 60m means a depth of 60 meters! So if you don't like drowning, take a needle of underwater-breathing first. Then dive into the deep ocean and gather your achievement.

Toxophilite
Kill a target from 70m or more with the bow (Single Player only).

You will need a scope and some practice. Just keep trying! :)
Note: It's also possible to get this achievement using explosive arrows. Nooby, but efficient.

Improper Use
Kill an enemy with the Repair Tool (Single Player only).

You can equip the repair-tool using a shop. To get the achievement, it's best to wait for a patrouille to come along, then shoot an enemy two times using a handgun and then start toasting his nuts.

Love the Boom
Kill 4 enemies simultaneously with one explosion (Single Player only).

Always take an RPG with you, you will never know, when you're going to need it ;)
This is a quite hard achievement unless you notice the ability to kill Jeeps and Helis with only one shot using the RPG. It may take some time until you get this achievement, because normaly, there are just two or three people on a jeep - don't try to do this with a grenade. If you're taking into account to liberate an outpost having armed reinforces incoming, you're beeing rewarded with two jeeps full of enemies. Take them out and enjoy your achievement.

Rock Always Wins
Fully distract 25 enemies with rocks (Single Player only).

Easy Achievement? It is not, unless you accept, that distract means, that armed forces hear your stone, go to investigate the situation ... and then return to their initial position. Distracting enemies without letting them get home will not count towards this achievement!
uPlay - Achievements (To be explained)
Free Fall
Freefall more than 100m and live (Single Player only).

Free fall is actually easy without explanation, if you haven't completed the Quest, after you found the three compass pieces and you have to jump into a lake. If you do so, just jump from the highest point.

Otherwise, that sounds very easy, but if you try to get it, you will notice, that this is one of the most nasty achievements of the entire game. So what to do now? There are just a few spots on the map, where you can finish this.

The most easy way is to complete half of the mainquest first, so that you are able to explore the southern island. Take a look at the map and get exactly, where I am standing right now:

As you might have noticed, there are three gliders pinned down at the map, take the right one - it should be painted yellow:

If you take a look down, you might notice, that this are way more than 100 meters to the bottom...

Some years later, you will have arrived over the open ocean. Fly until you reach some deeper waters and make sure, that you won't hit the little island!!! Take a look on your mini-map. As soon as the little island has disappeared, hit F (or the key you're using to leave your hang-glider) and you will get the trip of your life! :D Do not open your wingsuit or your parachute!

Alternatively, as you jump out of Willis' plane, don't open your wingsuit. You will fail your mission but get the achievement.

Fully Inked
Earn every tattoo by learning all the skills.

You might think, this should be self-explaining as well. It's not.
There are several special requirements to unlock some of your skills:

  • Kill 10 enemies using a handgun.
  • Kill 10 enemies using a mounted machinegun.
  • Kill 2 enemies, performing a standard-takedown.
  • Kill 3 enemies, performing a standard-takedown (wohoo, it's getting harder ;) ).
  • Kill 4 enemies, performing a standard-takedown (impossible! :O )
  • Kill 3 enemies with a knife (No takedowns!!!).
  • Kill an enemy using your Death-from-Above-Skill.
  • Kill an enemy using your Death-from-Below-Skill.
  • Kill 5 enemies using grenades.
  • Act like a vulture and loot 10 dead people.
  • Find 5 relicts.
  • Kill a shark. Poor shark.
  • Craft 10 medical syringes.
  • Buy body armor 3 times.
  • Buy 3 types of weaponmods.
  • Buy 500$ worth of stuff.
  • Complete 3 WANTED Dead-Quests.
  • Complete 3 Supply-Drop-Quests.
  • Liberate 2 Outposts in full-stealth. Nobody will know, that you've ever been there.

Keep track of your progress, outposts are limited! ;)
I will give you some advice, later on, so keep scrolling.

Rebel With a Cause
Liberate 3 outposts.

If you haven't liberated two outposts in full-stealth, you are unable to achieve Fully Inked! So note, that outposts are limited and the way you act will affect, if you can 100% the game or not! (If you're owning Patch 1.05 of the game, you can reset all the outposts via Options > Gameplay > Reset Outposts)

General advice: It isn't required to sneak around and kill everybody performing takedowns. It's fun, but not necessary. Take a look at your map, you should be able to see the outpost-alarms. Just sneak in, deactivate the alarm manually (this is important!) and then it's up to you: You could act like a ninja and kill everybody directly without beeing seen OR you're just sneaking back out and then shoulder the biggest sniper you can find. Remember: Head wins! This is not quite sneaky, but as long as you're not beeing seen, this outpost will be liberated as if you did in stealth.

You are beeing detected, when the white detection-markers start to flash (you have been identified by an enemy). It doesn't matter, if your enemies find some corpses or they can hear you shooting on them as long as they don't detect you! But remember to switch off the alarms!

By the way: Liberating outposts will give you 500 XP. If you're seen after sabotaging the alarms, 550 XP will be yours. Liberate outposts in stealth (or with long-range weapons like snipers or an RPG) without having the alarm go off, you're beeing rewarded 1500 XP. Keep that in mind.

If there are some outposts, which you just can't liberate (e.g. the Hubert-Shore-Powerplant), go play some Battlefield: Look for a car, put some C4 in front of it and drive it directly into the hornet's nest. Jump out of the car right in front of the outpost and blow it up! :D (This may also help you getting "Love the Boom")

Island Liberator
Liberate all outposts.

Point of no return.

Never Saw it Coming
Kill an enemy with a takedown from above from a glider, zipline or parachute (Single Player only).

Firstly, you need the Death-From-Above-Skill. This achievement needs a lot of practice and there is just one easy position to get it by jumping off a zip line. If you have already cleared this position, try your luck with a parachute on outposts - this will take a bunch of time. Trust me, I'm an engineer. Also, I had to do it this way, too ;)

At the outpost Farm "Stubborn Kid", there is a little house with many ziplines and directly beneath it, there are two enemies. Go for it ;) If you fail, get killed and try again.

Festive Adam Jensen added: "During Buck's missions where you have to invade old temples, one of them has a sequence in which you have to descend through ziplines and wooden ramps to get to the bottom of the temple. In this area, there are several enemies standing literally just under a zipline, and that is the perfect moment to get it." - Thank you!

Poker Bully
Win $1500 playing poker.

There are two ways of getting this achievement:
  • Have a lot of money and play poker on Expert using All-In all the time
  • Accept the sidequest Father's Burden in Thursten on the southern Island. You will have to play poker and you will win exactly 1500$. This is way more easy.

Say Hi to the Internet
Find the lost Hollywood star.

Have you already found him? No? Well, then I'll tell you...
Firstly, get exactly here: 619.1 / 553.5

And there he is! :D Just hit F (or whatever key you bound to "interact") and that's it!
uPlay - Achievements (Coop)
These achievements are beeing unlocked by playing the coop-maps. It doesn't matter, if you're playing them online or as a single-player-mission, just be aware, that you have to have played the mission from the start. Joining a running game will not unlock the achievements!

Note, that this is telling a story and every map is like a chapter. So play them in the correct order :P

For the "Didn't see it coming" achievement. What key do I have to press in order to detach from the zipline on my victim? Is it "Space"? Or "F"?

For the "Poker Bully" cheevo the best method was to go All-In and if you bust just reload the save, and if you win, save the innings.

I got it in about 10 'games'

you can remove the coop section of this guide, as it is no longer relevant :)

@🦄 lainverse I didn't get "Have I told you?" either. My game crashed after I got all my stuff back and answered Lisa's phone call, but before the "Success" screen showed up. I think that's the problem, until I picked up the last Japanese letter just now and found out that I missed "Dead Letters" achievement. Uplay servers are Uplay servers anyway.

Thanks :)
I will do so as soon as I find a game lacking an achievement guide. I was literally suprised, that FarCry 3, Modern Warfare 2 and 3 haven't had some.
