The Old Tree- Complete Walkthrough

The Old Tree is a cute game and not particularly difficult to get through, but this extensive guide to the game can help if you get stuck, no matter what the issue is. It goes from the beginning of the game all the way to the end.

Basics

The premise of the game is simple: Guide an alien baby from its egg back home into space.

You have 2 basic things you must do in order to accomplish this:

• Illuminating the Path
  
• Removing Obstacles

The alien will not be able to move forward if the path is blocked or obstructed in any way, and will not move forward into the dark. Keeping those two things in mind, it's not difficult to figure out what to do to help get him through the levels.

The Start

The game opens up to a black screen with a blinking red light. Click the light in order to illuminate the starting screen.


You should now be able to see a number of eggs. Click the one on the far right until it hatches. Once the alien is hatched, click the door on the right side of the room.

The alien will be able to navigate itself up into the next tunnel and climb up for a short distance. It will stop when the path needs to be illuminated again, by clicking another blinking red light.


Once that light is clicked, the tunnel will be illuminated and the alien will continue to progress.

Mushrooms

Here the way will be blocked. This is one of the trickier portions of the game, because it relies on timing.


You must click the water droplet when the bug is directly underneath it. Then the bug will carry the water droplet over to the other plant.


When the bug and the plant are in perfect alignment, click the bug again causing it to let go of the water droplet, which will then fling at the creature blocking your path. Now the alien can continue forward.

The Elevator

You must click the plant on the left to reveal the hidden elevator button.


The elevator button is now accessible, but you must turn off the lights in order to read the numbers. The light switch is just to the right of the creature behind the desk.


Once the light is off you need to act quickly, before the creature can turn the light back on. Press the down button to get the elevator down to your floor. You'll need to repeat this multiple times, until the elevator reaches the first floor.


When the elevator gets to your floor, the lights will stay off and the alien will automatically progress.


Once inside the elevator, you’ll need to press the top two buttons in the right column. That will get the elevator to move.



When the elevator stalls, click on the dot on the ceiling to open up the hatch. The alien can climb out that way.

Inside the Vents

When the alien stops again, it’s because you’ll need to open the vent. Click the vent to get a better view.


You will now have a better image of the vent. You will notice there are 4 screws. You’ll need to click each of them one time in order to loosen the vent. Then, click the bug to the right. It will fly into the tunnel, illuminating your way so you can progress.


Here you’ll need to click on a panel to work it loose and reveal the third light.


Keep clicking the lights until all 3 of them are green. Your alien can then continue up the tunnel.

The 3 Rooms

Now there will be three rooms on this floor that you must guide the alien through before it can ascend any higher. The first is the kitchen.


Here the alien will be blocked by steam. To get past it, you need to help the cook finish what he’s working on. Click the button to lower ingredients one at a time.


Be careful. A bug will fly through the window when the food gets to a certain point, and you’ll have to click on it quickly to keep it from stealing ingredients. Repeat the process of clicking the button and clicking the bug until the food is done and the cook leaves.



The second room that the alien will stop at is a closet.


Click on the curtain to move it.


There are 3 things in this closet that you need to click to clear the way. Once they're out of the closet and on the floor, the alien can progress to the last area on this floor; the water tank.


Before you can open the door to the room, you'll need to remove the plug and allow the water to drain. Once the water is drained, you can open the door directly in front of your alien.


Close the door behind you when you enter, and replace the plug. Then turn the wheel at the top right corner to flood the room once again. (This is the only way to get to the ceiling, since the walls aren’t flat enough surfaces for the alien to climb up.)


Once your alien is on the ceiling, you can drain the room again and open the door on the top left. The alien will then exit the room.

The Tunnel

Click on the web until it breaks and you can continue.


Here there will be a dark shadowy creature blocking the path. To continue, you must first lick on the end of the hose, located behind the green bottle.


Once the end of the hose is inside the mushroom, you must click the pump three times, allowing the mushroom to expand, explode, and scare the creature off.

The End

The alien will climb out of the tree and onto one of the branches, towards a plant.


Click on the leaf to get it to sprout.


Click on it again in order to break it free, allowing the alien to fly off.

the plant is a dandelion. you can blow on it to scatter the head which is made up of seeds that float up into the air
