How to play Domestic Dog

INTRODUCTION

Thanks for playing Domestic DOG! This game is about playing, exploring, and surviving as a Dog. The world is mysteriously missing humans, but Dogs have adapted and learned how to survive and build a civilization.

HOW TO PLAY

HEALTH

Keeping your dog alive and healthy is based on all your needs. Your overall health is shown by the heart monitor in the middle of the HUD and will beep when it gets too low. Its not necessary to keep them all full at all times, but keep an eye on them. Each NEED has it's own bar:

• SLEEP - take a nap at home to fill up. You will fall asleep wherever you are if this gets too low
  
• THIRST - sip from a water source to stay hydrated. This is also your ammo for peeing
  
• FOOD - stay full by eating food, meat, or other things
  
• POOP - Go near a hydrant and press [ACTION] to relieve yourself
  
• HAPPINESS - Play with toys, watch TV, and play videogames to stay happy
  
• FITNESS - Digging holes is the best way to stay fit

Besides these needs, there's also danger lurking in the world that can send you to the vet or kill you if your health is low enough. Getting hit by a car, for example will instantly lower all your needs and possibly kill you.

PEEING

Peeing is a very useful tool in the world of Dogs. Use it to mark territory, push around small objects, piss on other animals, and even solve puzzles! Water is the ammo for piss, so it's linked to your hydration. You'll need to drink water after peeing too much.

PAW SLASH

A Paw slash is a very important move. Use the slash to destroy bushes, interact with toys, push objects, and attack other dogs

DIGGING

Digging is a great way to get a workout and find money and other objects. There's also a rare chance you will get a special secret!

EARNING XP

Virtually everything you do in-game will earn you XP. Your level will increase once the XP cap for your current level has been reached. XP automatically increases depending on how healthy/happy you are. Try to find secrets and different ways to earn XP!

Here are some examples of how to earn XP:

• score a lot in arcade games
  
• crap all over a fire hydrant
  
• piss on a dog ghost
  
• kill a rabbit

DOG TYPES

There are many different types of dogs, each with different breeds. Each time you restart the game, you will get a random type / breed / color. Some types may require special items to unlock. Each type of dog has it's own unique bark and egg.

• Bio - Standard Earth Dog
  
  
• Robot - Robotic Dog with machinery instead of meat and bones
  
  
• Alien - Dogs from extraterrestrial planets or other dimensions
  
  
• VR - Virtual Reality Dogs made on computers & ported to world
  
  
• Reptilian - Reptile-like Dogs
  
  
• Android - A biological dog with an artificial Brain or artificial parts
  
  
• Ghost - ???

P.U.P. BOY

The PUP (Pooch Utility Processor) Boy is an advanced PAW-mounted computer device that is installed on every Dog at birth. It's integrated into thier body and can keep track of the dog's health and stats. Press [TAB or Back] to access the PUP boy screen. There are 5 tabs:

STATUS

Instantly view a closeup of your Dog, health status, serial #, & dog type. Press [ACTION] to change the background of your Dog.

STATS

Keep track of your records such as # of poops eaten and # of cars destroyed.
You can see your current and best record for each stat.

OPTIONS

Various options to change. Press up/down to navigate. [ACTION] to change them.

• Rearrange House: Change the layout of house. Will move bowls, art, computer, and bed around randomly.
  
• Music Player: This music player activates when going outside. If you disable it, you can still use stereos and will hear BGM music in stores.
  
• Full screen: Switch between windowed or fullscreen
  
• Window Scale: Scale the screen if in windowed mode
  
• Controls: Not Used (should show auto to allow keyboard or controller)
  
• Collar: Show or hide your dog's collar
  
• Mobile Pad Opacity: Press M to activarte touchscreen mode on PC. You can adjust the controller overlay here

MAP

Overview of the map and your current area.

ITEMS

Shows your usable items, permanent items (non-useable), collectables and food supply. To use an item, select it using up/down and press [ACTION].

DOG HOUSE

This is your house where you are born. Your house is the best place for resting, eating and drinking. When you buy a gadget ot toy, it will appear here automatically. It will reset and randomize once you die or play as a new dog.

SLEEPING / BED

Sleep at home to stay well-rested. You can change your bed if you buy a new one at the store.

FOOD / WATER

Eat your food and drink water. Your food is filled up if you have a food supply, go to Pet Store when you run out (check your pup boy to see supply). There are other ways to get food too. Water is always filled. You can also drink from some outside water-sources.

GADGETS / ELECTRONICS

You can buy and upgrade your gadgets. Unlike the rest of your house, Gadgets are permanent and will stay saved between dogs. Buying a new gadget will replace your old one.

PC
A PC can be used to play a PC game, as well as throw a party and do other stuff

Stereo
Stereo will play music from your unlocked tracks (records are found in-world). Press [ACTON]. Keeping the stereo on will make it hard to stay asleep.

TV
Use [ACTON] to watch TV, a random channel will play when you turn it on. You can buy and upgrade to a new model.

ART

Art is hung on the wall. You can have 2 pieces, a 1x2 and a 2x2. Go to the art gallery to purchase new art.

OVERWORLD

Once you leave your house and enter the overworld, you can explore the town, visit stores, and participate in activities. There are plenty of hydrants to crap on and many objects to piss on. It can be a dangerous place though, watch out for cars and fleas! Here are some of the places and shops you can visit:

DOG PARK
The dog park is a great place to relax or play. You can play Frisbee, Soccer, or herd sheep.

DOG ARCADE
Visit the Dog Arcade to play crappy retro games. Playing games cost money, but will allow you to earn XP and have fun. Gaming for long periods of time is bad for your dog's fitness.



DOGFOOD WAREHOUSE
This place is closed to the public, any innocent dog would have no reason to break in at night.

SHOPPING

You can buy stuff for yourself and your house at various shops around town.

PET STORE

Come to Bark Buy to stock up on food, and pick out new items such as food bowls and beds, and collars. You can also purchase new toys. When you buy a toy, it will be delivered to your home and contain a random toy. If the box is blinking, that means you got a rare toy!

DOG DEPOT

Shop at Dog Depot to customize the interior of your house. You can buy new floors, walls, Windows and doors here.

ART GALLERY

The art gallery features artwork that you can buy for your home. You can have a 1x2 and a 2x2 art piece.
