Introduction
Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions is a top-down, action arcade twin-stick shooter. In this installment, there is a 50 level adventure mode which can be quite challenging to complete, especially when you're trying to get the Geometry Warrior Achievement (getting a 3 star rating on every level).

This guide will talk about the basics, starting with explanations of every drone, super, super state, and enemy type, before going into detail with strategy to complete each level with a 3 star rating.
Your Ship
The ship is very straightforward. Move around with WASD and shoot by aiming with your mouse and holding down left click. With a controller, Left Stick is move and Right Stick is shoot. If you touch any enemy, you lose a life. Every enemy drops a certain number of geoms, which is a tiny green gem that increases your score multiplier.

The ship has an option of picking a drone which flies around with you (that cannot be destroyed) and each drone helps you in a different way (see section Drones for more information).

The ship also has the ability to use a super by pressing Q (or Left Trigger with a controller), which is an ability that you can choose from that your drone uses (see section Supers for more information).

Lastly, the ship can use a bomb by pressing E (or Right Trigger with a controller) which destroys everything on the map, awarding no points for the kills but every enemy will still drop geoms.
Drones
Drones help the battle in some sort of way. They are unlocked for free by beating the bosses in adventure mode. They are listed in the order that they are unlocked. They are upgradable with points that you collect from beating levels; the more they are upgraded, the more efficient they get (ie. longer range, shoot faster, etc).

I mainly used the attack drone for the whole game, but some drones are really good in certain situations.

Attack
Attack drone shoots in the direction the ship is shooting. Good for levels with a ton of enemies.

Collect
Collect drone flies around and collects geoms for you. Does not attack. Good for levels where you camp in a corner and play defensively, but still want a high score.

Ram
Ram drone flies around and smashes into enemies to kill them. Good for levels where there are a lot of walls.

Snipe
Snipe drone automatically shoots at enemies while you are shooting. Good if you have a hard time concentrating on targets or struggle with aiming.

Defend
Defend drone shoots in the opposite direction the ship is shooting. Good if you have troubles watching your back.
Supers
Supers are abilities that the drone uses by pressing Q. They can only be used a certain number of times per level (each level has a different restriction of the amount of uses). Supers are unlocked by collecting stars (up to 3 per level). Supers are also upgradeable to last longer and/or be more destructive. Can only have one at a time per level.

Miner
Miner is one of my favorites. Mines drop at the location of the drone repeatedly over time for a certain duration. It's good for setting up defense and killing enemies if you start to get overwhelmed.

Homing
When used, a bunch of missiles fly out of the drone and kills enemies. Doesn't last very long. It's not very useful in my opinion.

Black Hole
Sucks up a bunch of enemies to kill them. I mainly use attack drone which always floats beside me, so the hole sucks everything towards me which is risky. Should only be used with collector or ram drones.

Turret
Spawn a turret at the location of the drone, showering the map with bullets. Basically acts like a bomb but gives you points for kills. Very useful for some situations.

Clone
Spawns a second drone for a short period of time. I don't like it, although it's useful for a couple of levels.
Super States
Super states spawn as an image of several dots on a random area of the level. To get the powerup, you have to destroy the entire image before it fades away. On some levels, the spawns are always the same, and on other levels they are randomized. They only last for a short period of time.

Here's a list of each effect:
  • Shoot double the bullets at a time
  • Shoot bullets in a 3 way split
  • Radius to collect geoms increases
  • Gain a shield that makes you invulnerable
  • Shoot homing missiles as you're shooting
  • Make a pulsating veil around you that kills nearby enemies

Collecting these should always be your top priority. They drop a lot of geoms and they help you survive a lot longer.
Enemies
Double Pink Square
Most basic enemy of the game. They barely move, and when they do, they move a few units in a random direction.

Pinwheel
Pinwheels move slowly in random directions.

Diamonds
Diamonds follow your ship at a decent pace, and move faster when they get closer, or over a very long period of time.

Green Squares
Most annoying enemy in the game. These move decently fast, and they dodge bullets. It's really hard to hit them without attack or snipe drones. When dealing with groups of these, try to push them into walls parallel with your line of fire. They get trapped along the wall making for easy kills.

Pink Boxes
These move towards the ship very quickly. When they are destroyed, they spawn 2 tiny boxes that orbit in a tight circle, and move slowly across the level.

Gates
These can only be killed by passing through the white line between the two ends. The ends will kill you if you touch them. Gates reflects bullets off the line.

Snakes
These can only be killed by shooting the blue head. They can be very difficult to deal with if a lot spawn at the same time, since they block a ton of stray bullets.

Black Holes
Black holes sit on the map and do nothing until you shoot it. Once activated, it'll start sucking nearby enemies in (will also making shooting around the black hole very difficult). When it sucks enough enemies in, it'll explode and send really fast blue circles towards your ship. The circles don't move in a straight line so they can be difficult to take down. Try to kill a black hole before it explodes, it'll drop more geoms and give more points.

Jacks
These always spawn in hordes, and they are tiny. Be careful around these since missing one of them could mean a life.

Arrow
When these spawn, they choose a direction and move back and forth across the map. They usually spawn in lines, which makes killing them very easy if shot at the right angle.

Deflector
When these spawn, they choose a random direction, move in a straight line, and bounce off walls.

Hornet
These aren't very common. When they spawn, they lock into the ship's position, then head straight for it. The front is armored so they need to be shot in the back to be destroyed.

Dark Red Orb
There's only a couple of these on a few levels. They spawn in a random area, and then head straight towards the ship, going through walls and then out of the map. Killing them gives a large amount of geoms.

Nufo
These only show up in a couple of levels. They are yellow circles that spawn in waves outside of one side of the map and travel to the other side to leave. They can be dangerous because there's little warning for where they are coming from.

Golden Gear
These things are like pinwheels, but they drop very little geoms and are worth a lot of points.

Cell Mass
These start as a double tiny green hexa cell, but quickly multiply and take up a lot of space on the level. They don't drop geoms, so kill them as fast as possible.

Giant Cell Mass
These ones are like the cell masses, but they don't multiply. Instead, they block a lot of bullets. There's a weakpoint which is a tiny orange circle inside of the mass. These ones do drop geoms.

Spawner
These only show up in a couple of levels. When they are red, they can't be killed. After they spawn a bunch of enemies around them, they turn green for a short period of time, which is when they can be killed.

Red Cubes
These can't be killed. They just take up some of the map, move extremely slowly, and block bullets.

Painter
These only show up in the rainbow game mode. (More information on the rainbow levels in the level section).

Titan
These are only in the titan game mode. (More information on the titan levels in the level section).
Game Modes
Each level in adventure mode has a game mode associated with it.

Deadline
Reach a certain score in a limited amount of time.

Evolved
Reach a certain score in a certain number of lives (the amount of lives changes in between levels).

Checkpoint
Kill all the enemies on the screen to get more time to reach a certain score.

Titan
Reach a certain score, although all enemies spawn as a giant titan that moves in a straight line. When killed, they spawn into 4 smaller titans. When the smaller titans are killed, they spawn a large group of that type of enemy.

Pacifism
Reach a certain score without being able to shoot (the only way to get score on this game mode is to pass through gates).

King
Reach a certain score only being able to shoot in designated safe zones that shrink over time.

Rainbow
Reach a certain score before the painters paint a certain number of blocks.

Sniper
Reach a certain score with limited amount of bullets.

Claustrophobia
The level slowly gets smaller and smaller.

Boss
Boss Battle. Each boss has its own patterns, and they are described in the level section.
Level 1-5
Level 1: The Beginning (Deadline)
This level is very easy. Shouldn't be a problem to get 3 stars. Don't die and collect geoms!

Level 2: Dead Planet (Deadline)
Straightforward. Go around collecting geoms and kill things.

Level 3: Twisted Blister (Evolved)
There are a couple of blackholes in this level, but these ones are easy to deal with. The only challenging thing about this level is a lot of arrows start to spawn and it can get a little hectic if they aren't killed fast enough.

Level 4: Soul Window (Deadline)
I recommend skipping this level until you get attack drone from the first boss. Extra firepower is needed near the end of the level when everything starts spawning like crazy. Try to remember when the dark purple orbs spawn so you can stack your geoms.

Level 5: Sapphire (Boss)
This level is pretty easy. The best way to get the highest possible score is to NOT kill the boss as fast as you can. You get more time added in between each boss phase, so focus on killing enemies to stack geoms. The only difficult phase is the last one, where the boss moves pretty fast and starts spawning things very quickly, so try to save the bomb for then.
Level 6-10
Level 6: Sausage Smash (Deadline)
This level is decently easy, but to reach 3 stars you basically can't die. The super states only spawn on the middle section of the level, so when you hear it spawn go get it. After the first and third super state, make sure to go to the ends of the level (first super state, a bunch of jacks spawn at the ends, critical to get these geoms for 3 star rating) (3rd super state, a bunch of snakes spawn and they are worth a lot of points). In between super states, traverse along the middle of the level (the camera doesn't move as much and it's very easy to see enemies).

Level 7: Maze (Checkpoint)
This level is extremely easy. Even though I died a few times I still got 3 stars. Try to start at the ends when the waves spawn and work towards the other end to save time.

Level 8: Titan World (Titan)
This level is also pretty easy. Try to kill everything in one go after you kill the mini titan and you should be golden.

Level 9: Sweep (Deadline)
Try to stay out of the center, a lot of things spawn there. The walls occasionally turn red, which means if you touch it it'll kill you.

Level 10: Ruby (Boss)
This boss fight is not too hard. Use the same strategy as the first boss (kill enemies first and prolong the phases to get a lot of score). On the second phase, make sure to get the super state as quickly as possible because a ton of diamonds start spawning. At the end of the second phase, make sure to kill the black hole on the opposite end of the cube in relation to the boss. On the last phase, the boss chases you, spawns arrows, and also slightly deflects bullets. Kite it around and be careful when going around edges, the arrows can be unforgiving.
Level 11-15
Level 11: Peanut Dreams (Deadline)
This is the first level I had troubles getting 3 stars on. When the magnet super state spawns (the second super state spawn) rush over to the other end of the level to kill all the jacks to get their geoms. When the third super state spawns, do the same thing (be careful collecting the geoms, because the jacks are so tiny they're hard to miss). After that, hang around the middle. I set up a bunch of mines near 40 seconds left at the middle because at 10 seconds left, one of the ends spawns a whole bunch of jacks again and the other end a bunch of diamonds (more than the other times) and the mines kill a lot of the diamonds and keep you alive longer.

Level 12: Gate Dash (Pacifism)
The first pacifism level! Yay! Jk, not yay. This level is terrible. This level will most likely take a lot of retries, because if you die even once you'll probably not get 3 stars. Even if you don't die and get a lot of gates you will still probably not get 3 stars because sometimes the gates spawn really far apart. Get the gold ones as soon as possible, because they despawn rather quickly. Even if there is a lot of failure, it's good practice for the other two pacifism levels. Good luck with this one!

Level 13: King Hot Dog (King)
King takes a little bit to get used to. Make sure you always clear a path before you leave the safe zone, and remember that you don't need to stay in the safe zone for its entire duration. Also, the safe zones only start to go away when you've been in it once.

Level 14: Cubism (Rainbow)
This one is easy. One thing worth mentioning, is that the counter is number of blocks the painters have moved, NOT the amount of squares painted on the level. This means you can't defend one spot of the map because the painters can repaint painted surfaces. Make sure to shoot in random directions when you don't see any painters, and watch the edges as you traverse.

Level 15: Equator (Deadline)
There's a huge ring separating the two halves of the level. To get between them, you have to jump into the portals. They're ready to go through when they're green. Also, you gain a one second invulnerability shield when you pass over to protect you from enemies camping the portal. Go through them when you see super states spawn on the other side, or if too many enemies start to spawn on the other side.
Level 16-20
Level 16: Pianola Roller (Evolved)
This level can be a little challenging. There's no real strategy to this, just dodge and shoot things. You only have one life, and it took me 3 minutes before I got 3 stars. I liked using mines on this level because the area is fairly small and lots of enemies pass through the middle.

Level 17: Rock (Evolved)
This level is fairly simple, but the red block can be a nuisance. Enemies tend to mostly spawn in groups in the corners of the level. Delay the first super state by a few seconds, so you can have the full length of it when the green squares spawn. I used my bomb when the pink boxes spawned because they spawn extremely quickly and it's easy to die there.

Level 18: Spawn (Evolved)
Kill things as fast as you can and stay alive! The spawners only spawn arrows, and when they start spawning a lot it can be hard to deal with. Make sure to get super states as fast as possible.

Level 19: Infected (Evolved)
First level where there are cell masses. The big ones don't multiply but they block shots and drop geoms, so kill those first. There are a lot of super states that spawn and they make the level way easier.

Level 20: Emerald (Boss)
Same as the other bosses, kill the enemies and prolong the phases for as long as you can. Phase one is really easy because it only spawns arrows and they all converge on the other end of the level so you can kill them all at the same time. Phase two spawns a mini boss, kill it as fast as possible. Phase three spawns three mini bosses and a black hole on the opposite end of the level relative to the boss. Kill the black hole first, then kill the mini bosses as fast as possible. There's a reticule around the ship pointing you towards them in case you lose one. Grab the super state on phase four, kill things, get to phase five. In this phase it chases you and spawns arrows. If you delayed every other phase you probably have enough points for 3 stars already so kill it as quickly as you can.
Level 21-25
Level 21: King Pond (King)
The second king level. Jacks can make this level a little frustrating. Use the same strategy used in the first king level. When the snakes first spawn, use mines so it's easy to get the next super state.

Level 22: Hexawave (Sniper)
First sniper level! So the ship shoots 3 bullets at a time, and with the attack drone that's an extra 2 bullets. Try to get more than one enemy for each shot. Mines are very useful for this level.

Level 23: Out of Time (Checkpoint)
This level needs a little patience. You can't mess up, otherwise you'll probably not get 3 stars. All of the enemies spawn on the corners of the cube 90% of the time, so plan for that and kill everything as fast as possible. I used mines really early to get more time and to make sure I got its full use.

Level 24: Nufo Flow (Pacifism)
First encounter with Nufo! The only way to kill enemies is to walk on the mines. Aim only for the red ones at first to build up geoms (lots of yellow ones die in the crossfire anyways). 10 million is a lot of points, but nufo give a lot of score.

Level 25: Intensity (Evolved)
This level gets difficult. Starts off easy, then things start spawning faster and faster. Kill enemies as fast as you can and stay alive. You only have one life!
Level 26-30
Level 26: The Scream (Claustrophobia)
One of my favorite levels. The walls keep getting closer and closer. When the map feels too small, don't stop moving forward and shoot everything in front of you.

Level 27: Abstract (Rainbow)
Keep moving and target painters. Try to watch for their spawn, sometimes they can spawn right beside you and kill you.

Level 28: Barrel Roll (Deadline)
I strongly dislike the walls in these. They'll randomly stop then move up/down to mess with you. Kill enemies as fast as possible, and rush the super states. You'll need them.

Level 29: Planet of Peace (Pacifism)
This is the worst level ever. If you thought the first pacifism level was bad, this is infinitely worse. So much patience is required and a lot of split second decisions to be made. Try to get the golden gates when you can, but don't risk it if it looks too dangerous. Try to kill the green squares as much as possible. Another problem with this level.. if you keep the diamonds alive for too long they increase in speed and eventually you can't outrun them, so they need to be taken care of periodically. This level took me about 2 hours to get 3 stars. Good luck! Don't give up!

Level 30: Opal (Boss)
Same as the other boss battles, except there are a bunch of annoying red blocks to ruin your day.
Level 31-35
Level 31: Repulsive (Evolved)
This level isn't easy. Try to memorize the patterns as best as you can. When the first super state spawns, a hornet spawns on the portal. It happens almost every time a super state spawns. Make sure to kill it every time before going through the portal. Get super states when you can, and enter the portal when the wall gets too close. I used a bomb near the 3 star mark when a super state spawned so I could rack up points before I died.

Level 32: Titans Revenge (Titan)
Like the first titan level strategy, try to kill the spawns when they spawn from the mini titans. It's easy to get overwhelmed in this level. I recommend using turret super in this level, I used it near the 3 star mark to kill a lot of enemies and get a free super state. Mines kill enemies when you don't want them to which can cause a lot of extra spawned units.

Level 33: Dome of Doom (Deadline)
This level is difficult but not stressful. The middle of the map continuously spawns units, so camping there boosts your score a lot and makes the level a lot easier. You have 2 supers and 2 bombs, don't be afraid to use them!

Level 34: Infected Planet (Evolved)
Kill and stay alive. I took the turret super because it shoots hundreds of bullets and there's hundreds of enemies. It's a short level so it shouldn't take too many tries to get 3 stars.

Level 35: Endurance (Deadline)
This level is long and tough. When you stay alive for a certain amount of time, enemies start to spawn a lot faster and in much larger groups. You will die, but it's okay as long as it doesn't happen too much. I used the turret super for this and tried to use it to get super states or to rack up points near the end. I also hugged the walls when a lot of enemies were present.
Level 36-40
Level 36: Trash Compactor (Claustrophobia)
The last claustrophobia level. Easy while the level is large. When it gets smaller, kill the diamonds first. When pink boxes spawn, use bomb or super.

Level 37: Expressionism (Rainbow)
The last rainbow level. Multiple times I didn't get to the goal because the painters painted too many spaces. Sniper really helped prevent that because it'll automatically shoot painters in the distance. Used turret when I felt like there were too many painters on the level.

Level 38: Mind the Gap (Evolved)
This level is really easy to be honest. Most enemies spawn in the corners. The pattern is very easy to notice. When the wall stops moving, enemies spawn from the corners, then it moves again shortly after that. Just watch for the wall and make sure everything is dead before it starts moving.

Level 39: Hexend (Checkpoint)
Even just one death can set you back a lot on this level. Use mines to clear waves faster, and use ram drone because it'll get enemies you can't shoot on other sides of walls. It has a mind of its own, but try to split up from it to clear faster.

Level 40: Amethyst (Boss)
Phase one, kill the arrows at the end of the level where they converge. Use regular boss strategy on phase two, then the rest of the level you don't even need to farm enemies for geoms. You'll have enough score for 3 stars at the end of the level.
Level 41-45
Level 41: Limit Twist (Sniper)
The last sniper level. Use the same strategy as on previous sniper levels. When things spawn a lot faster, don't be afraid to hold down the shoot button.

Level 42: Running in the Family (Evolved)
Yay arrows! They will always spawn in a circle pointing towards the ship. Move out of the zone before they spawn, then try to kill them in one go. I used the defender drone in this level because I have a nasty habit of flying into arrows a lot, but attack drone should work just as well if not better.

Level 43: Crushed (Deadline)
This level is okay. It would have been a lot harder if the block in the middle actually came into contact with the outer walls, but it doesn't. Stay near the edge of the level and go in a circular motion around the level to always have the most amount of space. I used sniper drone on this level because the huge block in the middle prevents a lot of kills from stray bullets from attack drone.

Level 44: Turbine Cube (Evolved)
This level is a little tough, especially when the walls get bigger and green squares/pink blocks spawn in abundance. I constantly moved around the map along the edges and it seems to have worked.

Level 45: Deflector (Evolved)
This level only spawns deflectors. I used sniper on this level because it killed 2-3 deflectors every other shot. Try to kill some as soon as they spawn.
Level 46-50
Level 46: Super Rock Crust (Checkpoint)
You NEED ram drone for this map. Ram drone can pass through red blocks, which is vital near the end of the level when there are red blocks everywhere. Mines are also really good for picking off the hidden stragglers.

Level 47: Royal Disease (King)
Play this one like any other king level. Make sure to get enough geoms from the large cell masses, and always have a clear path to the next safe zone. Use turret when you feel overwhelmed.

Level 48: Spawners Revenge (Deadline)
I waited 15 seconds at the start of this level so the spawners could spawn a few extra units. After that, survive for as long as you can.

Level 49: Super Sequence (Evolved)
Definitely the hardest level in the entire game. The level has predictable waves, spawning the same enemy type on every wave.
  • First wave of enemies are pinwheels. Straightforward, don't fly into them.
  • Second wave is the double pink blocks. They spawn in huge lines. Try to shoot down the lines to kill them as fast as possible.
  • Third wave is the golden gears. Straightforward, they are like pinwheels.
  • Fourth wave is diamonds. It's very easy to die here. Try moving in a huge circle around the level, making a clear path in front of you and ignoring what's behind you. Keep going until they stop spawning then kill them all.
  • Fifth wave is arrows. This one is easy. When the lines of arrows start spawning on an entire wall of the level, sit in the middle and don't move. Shoot openings as they spawn so you have a safezone. When they stop spawning finish them off.
  • Sixth wave is deflectors. Stay in the corners of the level and kill them if they spawn right beside you.
  • Seventh wave is the dark red orbs. It's important not to lose a life here because they give a ton of geoms when they die. I used a turret to make sure they all died, and it also gives you free passage to collect all the geoms.
  • Eighth wave is jacks. This one is like diamonds, but a lot riskier. Move in a circle around the level, making a path in between each jack branch.
  • Ninth wave is green squares. They spawn in circles around you, then they start to spawn on 3 whole walls of the level. If you can see it, head towards the wall where they haven't spawned, while trying to shoot them away from you.
  • Tenth wave is snakes. If you don't kill them fast enough, you're out of luck.
  • Eleventh wave is hornets. The best way to deal with these is to move like a skinny sine wave. A lot of up and down, not too much left and right.
  • Twelfth wave (last wave?) is pink boxes. This is the most important part of the level because these gives so many points. They first start spawning only covering one wall of the level. After a while, they spawn on every wall, making it almost impossible to survive.

Level 50: Topaz (Boss)
The last level! This boss fight isn't too easy. There are a lot of moments where the simplest mistake will kill you. Unlike the other bosses, enemies will stop spawning during certain phases.
  • Phase one is like every other boss. Prolong the phase until 20 seconds, then end the phase.
  • Phase two he spawns 4 walls around him. Initially spawns arrows from them. Then spawns a ring of snakes, then spawns a ring green squares. Kill them, then end the phase.
  • Phase three he spawns 4 mini bosses in each corner of the level. They initially all spawn diamonds. When one mini boss dies, the remaining 3 all spawn jacks instead. When another dies, the remaining two spawn green squares. When another dies, the last one spawns pink boxes. Kill three mini bosses as fast as you can, then kill pink boxes over and over again to boost your score. Kill the last mini boss at around 25 seconds then end the phase.
  • Phase four starts with waves of arrows spawning from each side of the boss' walls. It starts with a few waves of arrows, then it's random after that, switching between arrows, deflectors, and diamonds. After a bit, the boss spawns a ring of pink boxes around himself. Get close to the edge of the level and kill them quickly. After they are all destroyed, end the phase.
  • Phase five the boss starts following you. Stay a good distance away from him because his walls have decent range. The edges of the level also gain red walls so you can't touch them anymore. Move in a big circle around him, and when the diamonds spawn, kill a little more than half of them then concentrate fire on the boss. Rinse and repeat until the phase is over. Make sure the phase ends before diamonds spawn, otherwise the phase transition will be hectic.
  • Phase six is the most important phase to boost score. It's also where I died the most. The boss still chases you in a circle, and the enemies that spawn in this wave are nufo. They are worth a ton of points, but they move extremely fast and it's very difficult to tell where they spawn from. I used homing for this phase, it kills the ones nearest to you so you can survive longer. Kill enough so you have around 13.5/14 million score (killing the boss gives 1 million so it's a guaranteed 3 star if you survive afterwards) then end the phase.
  • Phase seven is a lot like phase five, but the boss' walls get larger and they move in and out. Also, it's not only diamonds that spawn. Kill the diamonds like in phase 5, and when other enemies spawn, kill them first before targetting the boss. The boss covers a huge area so be careful.

I've played this game for years mostly without knowing some of the behaviors of the elements of the game. I enjoy it mostly because it requires quick cognitive reflexes and it is visually as beautiful. The music is also rhythmic and motivates the reflexes and responsiveness of the game. I'm gonna take some time to check go through your wiki and try to improve my performance. One question: I've looked throughout the game's settings and couldn't find this, is there a way to reassign the controller function to switch the shoot and movement controls in the games?

This is a hard game to really communicate about without going into exhaustive detail. Good on you for going there.

Level 49, use the Sweep. Max level, sit in the center of the map when the diamonds come. They can't even touch you. It's free points. Sweep pretty much TRIVIALIZES this challenge, especially the dark red spheres that come hurdling out at you. Sit in a corner and the Sweep will windshield wipe between the walls.

Fun fact, with the diamonds, you dont even need to shoot if you use Sweep drone. That thing wipes them all out at max level. Just... don't move.

Personally, I found the best default setup for most levels to be Collect + Turret. I ended up using Snipe on a few levels (especially checkpoint levels) but I almost always found myself getting the best score with Collect. Turret is also the only super that can completely wipe several waves of enemies.
