I'm just trying to make it easier for people to find this.

A big "Thank you" to the contributors over there.

Because the game only runs at a 4:3 aspect ratio everything will be stretched when playing on modern 16:9 resolutions, resulting in fat and odd looking characters and scenery.
To circumvent this you will have to do the following:

  • 1. Start off by downloading the D3D Injector (It's a .rar file) from pcgamingwiki:
    https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/723-beyond-good-evil-widescreen-fix/

  • 2. Once the download is finished, extract all the file's contents into the main Beyond Good and Evil folder, which is the same folder where your BGE.exe is located (path should be something like: C:\Program files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Beyond Good and Evil).
This will result in a new "Redist" folder and a bunch of files being integrated into the Main folder.

  • 3. Open the newly extracted d3d9.ini with notepad, put your desired resolution in and save the file.

  • 4. Open the SettingsApplication.exe in the same folder and select the same resolution you put into the d3d9.ini!

  • 5. Click on the "Save" button and run the game through Steam. It should now look something like this:

You'll notice some very small black borders left and right, which can't be removed, but the huge black bars on top and bottom of the screen are finally gone same as the stretched image.

  • 6. Should you experience problems launching the game with the fix, try running the CheckApplication.exe in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode, which hopefully will take care of any issues you have.

    Enjoy the game!

Hey so, I managed to fix it.
The problem was anti-aliasing for some reason, it had to be turned off. This was supposed to only be problem on Uplay version but idk to be honest. I am glad it worked tho, thank you bro for providing us with this.

PoemsforRoses seems to have fixed it himself. Since I haven't started the game in quite a while and also never had that issue I probably can't help you. Maybe you can message him?

I am having the same problem with game only opening on top-left of the screen. The window is covering the whole screen, tho game is graphically only visible on top-left, menu and selective buttons are displaying correctly. It is like the game was visually compressed in one corner.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

So it's not running in full screen mode? Alt+ enter would fix that but I'm not sure I fully understand your issue

I there, this worked but for some reason for me the game is on the top left corner of my screen.
Is there something I can do to fix this?
