Space Alert

Beschreibung
Space Alert is a cooperative team survival game. Between 1 and 5 players become crew members of a small spaceship scanning dangerous sectors of galaxy. The missions last just 10 real-time minutes (hyperspace jump, sector scan, hyperspace jump back) and the only task the players have is to protect their ship.

During play, the central computer will announce the presence of various threats on one the supplied 10 minute soundtracks that also acts as a game timer. The threats vary from space battleships and interceptors to different interstellar monsters and abominations, asteroids or even intruders and malfunctions on the spaceship. Players have to agree who will take care of which task and coordinate their actions (moving around the ship, firing weapons, distributing energy, using battlebots to deal with intruders, launching guided missiles, etc.) in real time to defend the ship. Only a well-working team can survive 10 minutes and make the jump back to safety.

The game offers several difficulty levels, huge variability and a unique experience for one to five player teams. One mission lasts only about 30 minutes, including setup and evaluation.

The 'Space Alert' game, the 'Sitting Duck' class of starship and all related images belong to Vlaada Chvátil and Czech Games.

Rules, Scoresheet and (if you can't use ingame table) soundtracks: http://czechgames.com/en/space-alert/downloads/

NOTES:
- Primarily intended for 4 or 5 players. 1-3 players is possible within the rules, but far less fun/interesting.
- Space Alert relies heavily on teamwork and communication, so playing without VOIP is not recommended.
- If you're able to use the ingame tablet, it can handle all 'main computer' functions.
- If not, you'll have to have one person listening to a soundtrack/generated scenario, and relaying what happens to other players.
- This currently does NOT include the 'New Frontiers' expansion. it will be added at some point.
- The exception to this is the threat cards - although the red decks (added by the expansion) are not yet included, the white/yellow decks DO include the extra cards added by Frontiers.

There is also an app called SpaceAlert (or Space Alert Mission Generator?) that creates random missions for you. I think it's for both iOS AND Android, but def the former

With the death of Flash, I'd just like to mention that there's a channel on youtube called WarLore that has a playlist of all the Space Alert missions, and they seem to run fine through the tablet.

You CAN adjust the size of the hand zone. Just use the Gizmo tool

Your comments mentioned an issue related to planned cards going to your hand. That's related to the height of the hand zones, which I don't think you can adjust. What's happening is the player is accidentally try to place cards THROUGH the hand onto the mat, which doesn't work.

Only real fixes are to move the hands further from the table or use a top-down camera ( P ). If players can handle using their bottom-screen hands and/or the Draw deck command without needing the actual hand zone location in front of their seat, it's a nice workaround. Wouldn't hurt to set up a second table under the remote hand zones so cards don't accidentally fall into the tabletop-less abyss.

Any chance the expansion content might show up for this? Game looks real fun, thanks for the effort you put into this.

Hi, wanted you know that your mod has been added to my collection: Board Game Geek - BGG - May 2020 - Best Mod for each of the Top 500 Rated Games. Collection here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2086043930

The collection used this priority system:

1. Mod's Files Availability: Mod with all/most files still available for download
2. Feature completeness: Mod with greatest inclusion of expansions and/or promos available for the board game title
2. Scripting: Mod with scripting that most reduces work in setup/play for players
3. Component Quality: Mod with the best visuals/usability in terms of component quality
4. Table Setup/Ambiance: Mod with the best immersion with table, background, and other modeling.

Please also note that a mod that makes selection for this list very well could be one in which the mod author borrowed the majority of assets from another workshop listing, so full thanks to all who worked on a mod.

Thanks for your hard work!

Does the tablet work for anyone anymore? It's just showing me that flash isn't supported anymore for me.

The free Space Alert app has a Spanish voice you can use. If you use that, you could put the sounds of it through your mic or have one person be communications officer and he relays the info

Excuse me, I'm interested in doing a Space Alert mod. I actually own the game in real life, but I do not have the funds to afford the New Frontier expansion. Would you be willing to scan all of the new Frontier content and supply it to me?
