What are Shares?
Shares in Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 represent the amount of influence a CPU has over Gameindustri. They represent how much of the populace believes in them. If a nation's requests are fulfilled by the CPU, the populace will believe in the CPU which increases their shares. The amount of shares in Gameindustri is limited by its population, so the only way to gather more shares is to steal shares from other nations.

The shares are divided into five categories:
  • Planeptune - representing the belief in Purple Heart.
  • Lowee - representing the belief in White Heart
  • Lastation - representing the belief in Black Heart
  • Leanbox - representing the belief in Green Heart; and
  • Others - it's not explicity stated, but it's likely that these shares represent the belief in Momus or other people that help out.

Lore wise, the more shares a CPU has, the more powerful they and their nation become. It is also said that running out of shares could cause a CPU to be incapacitated, however the shares in Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 have no effect on a CPU's abilities. Their shares could be 0% and it would have no effect on them.
What are Shares used for?
In the early to mid game, Shares have no effect on gameplay at all so it is not even necessary to bother with them. Shares only become important once you near the end of the game in Chapter 8. There's no need to worry about them before then.

Once near the end of the game, shares can be used for the following things:
  • Unlocking the CPU Candidates Plans: there are three to unlock and one each can be gotten from Lowee, Lastation and Planeptune by getting the relevant one's shares to 30%.
  • To actually use the CPU Candidates Plans, you'll need to get the relevant nation's shares to 50%.
  • To use "Unlock Super Enemies" plans, you'll need to get a certain nation's shares to 25% which varies depending on which dungeon you want Super Enemies for.
  • To use the Angel and Devil processors' plans (equipment for CPU mode) you need Planeptune's shares at 35% or more.
  • To unlock the True Ending: finish the game with an approximately equal spread of Shares between Planeptune, Lowee, Lastation and Leanbox, while have Others at 0%.
How are Shares changed?
Shares can be changed in the following ways:
  • Completing Coliseum fights.
  • Completing Side Quests.
  • Over the course of the story, they change automatically. (I believe they do anyway, I haven't confirmed it however.)

It's important to note the every time you change shares you must take shares from another nation. When you look at the share changes a Quest or Coliseum fight gives, you'll notice there is a nation which has its Shares increased, and a nation which will have its shares decreased. The nation losing shares must not have 0% for there to be any change.

For example, if a quest will increase Lastation's shares by 3% and reduce Leanbox's shares by 3%, if Leanbox has no shares there will be no change to Lastation's shares. If Leanbox has 2% shares and you complete the aforementioned quest, Leanbox will go to 0% and Lastation will only gain 2% rather than the promised 3%. You'll still receive the rest of the quest's rewards even if there is no change in shares. Be careful to check the shares before you turn quests in.

Many Coliseum fights and Side Quests are repeatable so don't worry too much if you want to complete quests for rewards and end up changing the shares in some manner you didn't want to. In this guide, I'll only make reference to doing quests to change Shares as unlocking the Coliseum requires 512 MB of your limited memory available.

If you don't unlock the Coliseum and are careful not to spend your MB on things you don't actually want, it's possible to unlock all three CPU candidates on a single play-through. They'll then carry over to the next one so it's up to you whether you want to get all three on the first play-through or wait til the next one.
How much do Side Quests change shares by?
The changes between shares of two nations from quests never exceeds 6%, with the exclusion of quest which involve changing Others shares. Quests which increase Others shares can have a change of up to 9%. The amount the shares are changed are somewhat dictated by the rank of the Quest:

  • Rank S Quests change the Shares by 6%.
  • Rank A Quests change the Shares by usually 5% (excepting a 9% Others increase and one 3% change)
  • Rank B Quests change the Shares by usually 4% (excepting a 9% Others increase)
  • Rank C Quests change the Shares by usually 3% (excepting a few 9% Others increase and one 4% change)
  • Rank D Quests change the Shares 2%.
  • Rank E Quests change the Shares in a mixture of mostly 1%, but some 2% and 3%.

As is apparent, rank S quests are the most difficult but have the best Share changes, while rank E quests are easy but have low Share changes.

It's impossible to say that there is a single quest which has the best changes in Shares as the fastest quest will not always have shares to take from if the nation whose shares will decrease has been decreased down to 0%. I'll split how to best increase each nation's shares depend on which nation has shares in surplus.
How to increase Lastation's Shares
When it came to Chapter 8, Lastation was dominating the shares for whatever reason (along with Others). I'm not sure if Lastation ends up with a particularly large amount of Shares due to the passage of the story or I just happened to do lots of Lastation quests but needless to say, I got Lastation's shares to 50% first.

Others > Lastation
Seeing as Others had the most Shares compared to Lastation, this was the best way to increase Lastation's shares. Luckily, the best way to do it is also one of the easiest - if not the easiest - S rank quest. The quest to do is Just a hobby. If you're doing this in Chapter 8, as you probably are, the quest should be easy enough.

The plans you'll require to complete to do this Quest are:
  • Mechtro Factory - Add Dungeon
  • Mechtro Factory - Add Enemies
The only item you'll need to collect to finish this quest is a single AG System, which drops from Herobo in Mechtro Factory with Add Enemies enabled. Spawn point circled in green.
Smash this quest out a bunch of times for quick and easy Lastation Shares.

This is the only method I used to increase Lastation's shares.
How to increase Lowee's Shares
Following on from the order that I increased the Shares in, the next place I did was Lowee.

Lastation > Lowee
Unfortunately, there is only one S ranked quest that increases Lowee's shares and it is not repeatable. However, there is a B ranked quest that is just as, if not faster, than if the S ranked quest were repeatable. The S ranked quest, if you'd like to do it once is called Rare Guitar Controller, however I won't cover it here. The B ranked quest that I repeated is called Preparing for the next mission. For this quest it is possible to avoid combat altogether if you wish, and it tends to be faster to do it this way as well.

The plans you'll require to complete this Quest are:
  • None! - You'll unlock this dungeon, and therefore the quest through story progression.
The item you'll need to collect is a single Unexploded shell which drops from either the Heavy Tank enemy in Avenir Storage No.4, or from the harvest nodes nearby the enemy. I'm not sure if it drops from any harvest node in the dungeon, but the ones circled in yellow are the ones I had success with. The Heavy Tank is circled in green.
You're free to decide whether you want to harvest the nodes, kill the enemy or do both as they can all give Unexploded Shells. Unless you are particularly powerful (or itching for a fight), the best way is to probably grab the nodes and use and Eject Button to get out of there, rinse and repeat. Note that the Heavy Tank does not have a 100% chance to drop Unexploded Shells, and neither do the nodes. However, the nodes can either give 1 or even 2 Unexploded Shells on harvest.

Leanbox > Lowee
If for whatever reason you didn't have 50% Lastation shares to give to Lowee by way of not wanting the Lastation CPU Candidate, there is another method that involves Leanbox shares instead. It's a D ranked quest, so it will only change shares by 2%, but thankfully it is incredibly easy although it can be somewhat tedious. The quest is called Retirement regrets.

The plans you'll require to complete this Quest are:
  • Duty Space - Add Dungeon
To complete the quest you'll need to collect 3x Blue Earth Pipe from the dungeon Duty Space. It can be acquired from either Harvest Nodes in the dungeon, or from the Plam-met enemy. The harvest nodes I used are circled in yellow, while a nearby Plam-met is circled in green.
The method sounds terribly tedious, but the beauty of it is you can enter the dungeon, harvest the nodes and leave immediately. Once again, you're free to decide whether to fight the Plam-met mob there or just harvest the nodes. Like the previous method, there is not a 100% chance that you'll get Blue Earth Pipes from either the nodes or the Plam-met, but the speed at which you go through them means you'll get them quickly enough. You'll need to do the quest a number of times to get a big change in shares but it doesn't take very long regardless.
How to increase Planeptune's Shares
Following on after getting Lowee's shares to 50%, I did the last nation required to get a CPU Candidate, that is, Planeptune.

Lowee > Planeptune
There is a repeatable S ranked quest to increase Planeptune's shares from Lowee's shares. The quest is called That! You know! and is the hardest out of all the quests I've listed so far. It can be made far easier by only harvesting nodes and not fighting though.

The plans you'll require to complete this Quest are:
  • Uwii Ruins - Add Dungeon
The items you'll need to collect is a single Old Dragon...Huh? which can be found from harvest nodes in Uwii Ruins, or dropped by the Crescent Dragon enemy which also resides in Uwii Ruins. It's likely that the item could drop from other nodes, but I can confirm with certainty that it does drop from the nodes circled in yellow. The Crescent Dragon is circled in green.
It should be noted that I had abysmal luck when it came to have the item drop from the nodes, even the ones that are circled. The drop rate is fairly low. It should also be noted that the Crescent Dragon is a tough customer, even so for this point in the game. I recommend around level 70 and decent weapons. It's also a good idea to enter the fight with a full EXE bar. When the dragon is on low health it will stop using its basic attack and instead use an attack which hits every member of your party for high damage - every turn. Bursting him down with EXE abilities before he gets a chance is the best idea and makes the fight pretty easy.

Lowee > Planeptune - Courtesy of {U}Soranul{B}
This method was shared with me by {U}Soranul{B}. It's a repeatable A ranked quest from the early game, so it's very easy. The quest is called Mix and mix well and is super easy if you're at late game already.

The plans you'll require to complete this Quest are:
  • West Wind Valley - Add Enemies
The items you'll need is a single Premium Jelly which drops from the Giant Dogoo enemies in the dungeon. It may also drop from harvest nodes but I haven't checked. It doesn't really matter because the Giant Dogoos aren't particularly strong. The two points at which the Dogoos spawn are circled in green.
The drop rate for the Jelly seems about average and unless you're strong enouch to dominate Crescent Dragons, this method is likely to be far easier and much faster.
How to increase Leanbox's Shares
While there is not a CPU Candidate that you can get from Leanbox, you'll need to increase their shares to around 25% to get the True End. If you followed the order that I did, you'll likely have at least 50% Planeptune shares, so this method will work well.

Planeptune > Leanbox
Luckily, there is a repeatable S ranked quest that isn't too hard which changes Planeptune's shares into Leanbox's shares. The quest that you want to do is Nursing.

The plans you'll require to complete this Quest are:
  • Ortan Fields - Add Dungeon
  • Ortan Fields - Add Enemies
The item you'll need to collect is a single Newbie Nurse Cap which drops from the Nurse Binder enemy which can be found in Ortan Fields (circled in yellow). Chances are it can be found from the harvest node nearby, but the enemy is fairly weak and has a good chance to drop the item so it's easy enough to do it this way.
This method is pretty easy, so you'll quickly get the required shares you need by doing it this way.
Notes about the True End
To get the True End, you'll need to have the shares between the nations approximately equal (at least 20% in each) and have Others at 0%.

Emptying Others
To get Others' shares down to 0%, the best method is to complete the quest Just a hobby. This quest is explained in "How to increase Lastation's Shares" in this guide.

Method
Firstly you'll want to get Others to 0% with the above method. Then it should be easy enough to follow the same pattern from this guide. That pattern being Lastation -> Lowee -> Planeptune -> Leanbox.

If your shares have ended up in a fashion where you have no Others shares left already, you could try to do any number of the quests that increase Others' shares (there's a few E ranked ones that do 3%) and then follow the order above.

The methods listed here aren't precise enough to get your shares to exactly 25% each, but you should be able to complete some easy E or D ranked quests to even the shares out in whatever fashion you need to.
Conclusion
I hope this guide was of some help to you, if there's another quick method using quests that I haven't listed to change shares or if there's a mistake please share it in the comments and I'll make the relevant changes.

If I did the same quests repeatedly, does this affect my Shares?

Tx man you help a lot

So I can't get shares up by just doing the same Quest over and over?

There is a quest where you go to theland santuary and defeat the galazizer big robot dog thing and get 5% in planeptune and 5% decrease in others and that helped me alot for shares.

There's something here that is wrong, shares DOES affect the perfomance of CPUs, Currently I have lastation shares over 50% (FOR UNI!) and leanbox shares in 0%, Vert is 1 level ahead of noire, both with best equipement possible and noticed that Noire (normal) is slightly stronger that Green heart (AKA transformed) So shares actually power up CPUs in stats

@Tigrou-san
You just need to have them all at 25% and Others at 0% when you finish the game at the end of Chapter 8. You can have your shares as whatever you like before then.

Once you advance to Chapter 8, do whatever you'd like to do before you finish the game then get your shares to around 25% for all of them and others at 0% (I'm told they don't have to be exactly 25% but I just made it that to be safe). After that just continue the main story until you finish the game.

ok so until what chapter do i need to have all over 25% and others at 0% the last chapter or already at chapter 7?
