A Basic Walkthrough to Richard & Alice

This is a simple guide to help those who are stuck when playing the game and don't want a spoilerific manual. This won't help you get specific endings or achievements, just the info you need to play the game start to end.

Richard & Alice is a wonderful, narrative rich game I think everyone should experience by themselves. I only suggest using this if you're really stuck. This guide was made for those who are doing their first playthrough with no spoilers. This is a bare bones how to that only tells you how to make it through and doesn't point to any special endings or achievements.
That's up to you if you figure or notice things outside of the guide for yourself. Happy gaming!
Day 1
Richard
  • Take the family photograph on the dresser.
  • Take the spare sheet and spare duvet cover under the bed.
  • Combine the spare sheet and spare duvet cover in your inventory. This creates tied bedding.
  • Combine tied bedding with barred doorway.
  • Combine family photograph with barred doorway.
Alice
  • You receive a box key. Use the box key on the box.
  • There is nothing you can do at this point but talk to Barney about escaping.
    He mentions turning off the lights opens the door.
  • Select plant. This reveals hole.
  • Select coloured blocks. Alice will pick green coloured block.
  • Use green coloured block on the hole.
Day 2
Richard
  • Select shower.
  • Find login stick in wardrobe.
  • Use login stick on computer.
  • Select [SUBMIT TICKET] the rest does itself.
  • Select other cell to talk to Alice.
  • Pick up small metal tray.
  • Use small metal tray on either cell.
  • What happened after the basement? to get to Alice's story.
Alice
  • Go all the way down the map past where the scene begins, you can find it by following the tracks that go left. The is a small shed. Use the door to enter.
  • Pick up shears.
  • Use rusty shears on cabinet.
  • Select items in cabinet. You will select a gun, a small key, and a note.
  • Go back to where Barney is.
  • Use small key on padlock.
  • Use gun on padlock.
  • Go to cabinet, you will collect shotgun shells.
  • Select the cupboard in the kitchen, you'll collect bin bags, a tin of sweet corn, and a handwritten note.
  • Select the second door.
  • Select box.
  • Use small key on box.
  • You'll collect a keepsake box.
  • Select the keepsake box to receive a set of keys and a child's drawing.
  • Use set of keys on the first door.
  • Select the wooden plank.
  • Use bin bags on rotten food.
  • Use wooden plank on front door.
Day 3
Richard
  • Pick up the brush and mop.
  • Select the bucket. You'll get sticky tape.
  • Combine brush and mop to get mop and brush.
  • Use sticky tape on mop and brush to get makeshift pole.
  • Use makeshift pole on environmental control unit.
  • Select the other cell and Alice will give you a brush.
  • Use brush on makeshift pole to get pole with extra brush.
  • Use sticky tape on pole with extra brush to create longer makeshift pole.
  • Use longer makeshift pole on environmental control unit.
Alice
  • The grave will be on the other side of the lake. It'll be next to the grave with the wreath.
  • Go all the way to the bottom right of the map until you reach an area with a bench and 4 patches of dirt.
  • Select flowers.
  • Go back to the grave.
  • Combine flowers and grave.
Day 4
Richard
  • Use computer.
  • Select Alice.
  • Select handbook as subject.
  • Select Section 64 C.
  • Select mostly empty plate. You'll get a safety knife.
  • Use safety knife on cabinet in bathroom.
Alice
  • Go all the way to the upper left of the map, it should lead you to a church.
  • Go to the upper left of the map again, you'll be where the graveyard is located.
  • Go back where you came from.
  • Select the now open big wooden doors.
  • Select the electric lighter on the altar.
  • Select the ladder next to the altar.
  • Exit the church and return to the house, go in.
  • Once in the house select the cooker to receive the baking tray and the radio to receive batteries.
  • Combine the batteries and electric lighter.
  • Go out and return to the church.
  • Use electric lighter on can frozen in bin. You'll receive rust removal spray.
  • Use rust removal spray on rusted ladder.
  • Go back to the house.
  • Use extendable ladder on the slightly broken upstairs window.
  • Pick up the crowbar under the board .
  • Pick up the newspaper and empty notebook on the table.
  • Pick up note hidden behind one of the bars.
  • Exit through window.
  • Go to the church and go in.
  • Use crowbar on statue of Marie.
  • Leave and go back to where the house is and go in the shed.
  • Use baking tray on vice.
  • Use shotgun shells on vice. This should produce a tray of gunpowder. Pick it up to receive a homemade bomb.
  • Go back to the church and go in.
  • Use homemade bomb on broken statue.
  • Use old newspaper on makeshift explosive to create a bomb with fuse.
  • Use electric lighter on bomb with fuse.
Day 5: The Final Day
Richard
  • Select toothbrush cup in front of the cabinet in the bathroom. You'll get a cup.
  • Use cup on basin. You'll get cup of water.
  • Use cup of water on television.
  • Refill your cup of water like before and use on computer.
Alice
  • Leave house and go to the church
Richard & Alice
  • Pick up brick in blood puddle.
  • Select hanged guard, you'll receive a pocket mirror.
  • Use brick on pocket mirror. You'll receive mirror shards.
  • Use a mirror shard on every individual laser.
  • Use keypad.

CONGRATS YOU'VE DONE IT! Enjoy your first ending.
