Introduction
I got this game for free and it frustrated me to no end. It took 3 hours but I eventually scored a "lucky run" and won the game. You win by collecting 11 red tapes and listening to them. Once you collect the last tape, hide and wait until the screen goes white.

Setup
* Set your screen to max resolution on Fastest. You'll need to be able to see more with no lag.

In the in-game options,
* Turn off the music. You'll need to hear the drones or else you'll be surprised and tazered.

* Lock gun to center. You don't want to deal with more aiming problems.

* Toggle Crouch. You don't have to use a finger to hold a button down. It's better this way since this game uses so many buttons.
Basic Movement
You can sprint by tapping forward a lot. Unfortunately, this control scheme can be needlessly dangerous. For example, let's say you are doing a lot of "little steps" in a tight maze. Whoops, you pressed W twice. You sprint forward into a turret that's around the corner and get shot to death. Let's say your trying to peek over the edge of the second floor. Whoops, you pressed W twice. You sprint forward off of the second floor and into the first floor and you die. One time, I have gotten 10 tapes and died because I fell off a ledge due to this control scheme.

To stop AND prevent sprinting, you can just aim your weapon (right click). When in doubt, hold right click.

Do not sprint in uncleared areas. You will run into a hidden turret or drone and you will die. I have died many times like this because I wanted to "beat the game faster."

If you want to jump on a ledge, stand close to it (but don't touch it), do a minor step hop on it (side step and jump at the same time). Don't forget to hold aim or else you might sprint off the edge and die.

Weapons
Press ? in-game to enable help text (for beginners). Once you play this game enough (a mere 2 hours) everything will become muscle memory.

Press G to pick up bullets, tapes, and flashlights.

If you don't like your starting equipment, hold L to suicide.

Flashlight
Helps you see into the darkness. Won't aggravate enemies.

Glock
Ammo: 17 + 1 (Chambered)
Note: To set auto (not recommended): press V. The auto text will be bright white in the help text. I don't recommend wasting ammo like this.

Colt 45
Ammo: 7 + 1 (Chambered)
Note: You'll have to press the hammer back if needed (the help text for hammering will be white). You might have to turn off the safety. Press ? to see what needs to be done (highlighted white text).

Revolver
Ammo: 6
Note: Easy to use.

Handling Enemies
There are two enemy types, drones and turrets. One shot and they can die. To win, you must detect, hide, and then shoot. I will explain more below.

Play this game carefully. One shot and you die.

You can easily hear these enemies buzzing if you disable the music.

==========
Turrets
These turrets lurk around everywhere. Firstly, you must detect them. Secondly, you must disable them properly.

In order to detect turrets, you will have to assume they are in every single unexplored area. When you move around a corner, you will have to peek at every corner by step stepping one direction and then quickly back to where you were. You can hear their buzzing and you can see their blue circling lights, which can be used to see where they are facing without direct line of sight.

This diagram explains everything.
The gray area is unexplored. The red circles are two turrets. The green circle is you.
1: The player side steps right and then left while looking into a small section into the room. It is at this time he detects one turret.
2: The player side steps right and kill the turret when it is looking away.
3: The player side steps right a little more and then back left while looking deeper into the room.
4: The player side steps right even more, detects a turret, and steps away. The player shoots at the turret when it is safe to.

When is it safe to kill a turret?
The only time to shoot at a turret is when it is looking away from you. If it is looking at you, you are risking dying. In this game, one shot is enough to kill you.

Where to shoot it?
Aim for the center of the base. It is easy to shoot because it's not moving. The fatter part of the base, its rear, is the kill area, the battery. The narrower part is the motor. If you shoot the motor when the turret is looking at you, then it will be stuck facing you and it will shoot at you. If you are at a doorway when this happens, then you will put yourself in a lot of risk if you try to go shoot at this drone more. Which is always why you shoot at a turret when it is facing away from you.

What happens if you get detected?
You will know if you were detected by a loud beep followed by a shine of yellow light. Never shoot, always hide. Ideally, you will hide by just simply sidestepping towards a wall. If you shoot at the turret when you are detected, then you risk dying.

You can actually run up to a turret while it is spinning away from you and then shoot it in the butt. This is not as risky as it may seem if done correctly. Be careful of other turrets lurking around.

==========
Drones
These are very dangerous. Firstly, you will have to detect them. You can detect them by listening for drone noises which sound like buzzing. Also, you can see their circling blue lights.

If you hear a drone, you must find one visually, preferably from the high ground. If you hear a loud beeping and angry buzzing noises AND you do not see them, you must turn around and sprint away. These drones away by moving straight quickly. They are horrible at turning, so you must turn from corner to corner to help with the evasion. Also, they are bad at going through doors, which will help you.

If you are detected AND you see them AND they are at quite some distance away AND you are near a place you can hide behind like a doorway or a wall, then I recommend shooting a few bullets into it. The drone will be charging straight at you and it will present itself in such a manner where you can easily execute it. Aim at its center and then aim a little bit up and shoot. You should knock out its butt-battery and kill it. The butt-battery is above the camera (the box with the red light).

You can still die near drones if they're on the floor and they're not properly disabled, so try not go near them.

Preferably, you shoot these drones when you are not detected.

Only shoot at a drone if it is in the air and not moving. You might see a drone far away, but since it is not active, it's not in the game and it won't die. You'll have to move closer.

One time, I was in a room with 5 drones. I died because I thought putting 4 bullets into one drone would do the trick. Nope, missed and the drone went through the doorway (rarely happens) and then it killed me.
Hints and Tips
Moving into new rooms will cause you to lag. In this case, move back while the game is lagging and loading. If you continue to move forward, you might go into a turret and die.

Near furniture, press G a lot. Items may be hidden nearby such as inside bookshelves.

Windows are bullet proof.

You don't need to kill everything, but I recommend it since there might be ammo nearby. Sometimes ammo is underneath the turret.

You can watch other people play on youtube or twitch to see what they do right and wrong.
Cheats
Type these ingame. I've never used them.

idkfa: free ammo
iddqd: invincibility
slowmo: Press tab to slow motion.

But in this case, an ankle sprain will just cause you to die.

actually, turn the music volume down just a little. The music does slightly block you from hearing drones and turrets BUT it intensifies the closer you are to enemies. And by intensify I mean more "instruments" are playing. If there aren't any enemies nearby, it's just the creepy ambience, which means (in closed areas) you can run around like a maniac. sometimes drones are really far away but can still spot you in open areas, and plus you don't wanna fall because of your wimpy legs that can't survive a 5 foot fall. Seriously, a broken leg won't kill you.

@author of the guide: I know, but if the turret is far away and there are stairs in the line of fire, that's another story. I had this situation three times on spawn, and multiple other times.

@William JCM - I do not recommend even getting to that point where turrets run out of ammo, which is why I didn't include it in my guide. That means you're getting shot at, which is not recommended. One bullet is enough to kill you and that risk is unacceptable and easily avoided. You can easily go through this entire game without getting shot at. :weed:

Only took you 3 hours to beat?
Geez, I've played for over 40 and never got past tape 7...

Windows are not only bulletproof, they also block the enemies LoS (but not yours).

Also, turrets can run out of ammo (they have around 10-15 bullets).
