Workaround fix to Install Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 from a disc

Introduction

Hi! I can see a lot of people are having issues installing from their discs (including me). If you are unable to install the game from the disc, you can follow this workaround to fix the issue. I found this post on[gaming.stackexchange.com] while i was trying to install the game again from the disc because just recently my hard drive failed and i didn't want to download the whole game again from the start (i knew the game wouldn't install from the disc but i decided to give it a try anyway). And hopefully it works :)

Workaround fix

Create a new folder on any drive you wish and copy all the files from disc 1 & disc 2 into that folder. Then on the steam window click on "Steam" on top the left corner > Backup and Restore Games > Restore a previous backup > Now click on browse and select the new folder you just created where you copied the disc 1 & disc 2 files, then click on next and steam will do the rest. You still have to download 300 or 400MB of Updates.

Or try restarting your PC.
If that does not work, install and play CS 1.6, then don't play CSGO.
If that also fails, play CoD until you get good at dank memes. If problems persist, contact Samsung support on 1000 000

Well, after downloading a couple of gigs of the game i tried to do the backup thing again and for my surprise the installation process started. But after "Installing" the game, steam was still downloading from the same spot left like nothing changed. So technically, the game is installed but i cant run it because steam says i have to download it (the whole game, not an update)
This is weird, ill see what can i do.

Maybe wait for a few minutes? It might take a couple of minutes or more to see the progress bar move. I had the same problem before installing from the disc. This is the only workaround that worked for me.

Still not working for me. I copy the files of both disc 1 and 2 in a new folder, use the restore option in steam aaaaand...same problem. The installation does not progress. Any ideas?

Do i need to make two sub folders, aka one for disc 1 and 1 for disc 2, or bunch them together?
