Introduction
Once I got hooked on to Vanguard Princess, I had wished that I could play it against my friends online. Since this doesn't come with the game natively, this was my best option.
Guide Set-Up
PLEASE READ
To make your time here as quick as possible, I will show you how this guide is formatted so you can find your information easily. This tutorial is for both the host and the client. (You and your friend(s))
(B) = Both the client and the host.
(H) = For the Host only.
(C) = For the Client only.

It will be something like this:
(B) = In this section, all must be done by host and client.
-B = Instruction for both the client and host.

(H) = This section is only done by the host, BUT must be done first in order for the client to work.
-H = Host intructions.

(C) = This section follows the host's instructions, as the server must be running in order for the client to work.
-C = Client instructions.

Of course every title will also be named after what is going on in the step.
EX: (B) Port Forwarding

As long as you read this and follow the format, your time here will be quick.
(B) - Download & Install the Game
This shouldn't need to be an instruction, but both the client and host must download and install Vanguard Princess.
You should both have the same DLC installed. I am not certain if you can play in-sync with someone who doesn't have a DLC that adds a character.
(B) - Set Up MTSP

Once you dowload the file you are going to want to extract it with your favourite extraction tool. You could use WinRar[www.rarlab.com] (Which nags you to buy it, but you don't have to.) or you could use PeaZip[peazip.sourceforge.net] which is free and gets the job done. (Or any other extraction tool you would like to use.)

Once you have extracted the Zip file, go into the folder and you should see the following files.

Now you are going to want to open up the directory in which you installed Vanguard Princess.Make sure you do this in a new window, as it will make the next step easier. (See image below for example)
Now once you have your windows like this, you are going to want to copy the files you downloaded to the directory of Vanguard Princess.
We aren't quite done yet. Now you will have to find a file called "vanpri.kgt" and copy it. Then you will want to paste it into the SAME folder. See image below if you don't understand.

Now that you have "vanpri - Copy.kgt", you are going to want to rename it to "vanprinet.kgt"
Now we are done setting up MTSP.
(B) - Port-Forwarding
Port-forwarding might be a difficult task for some, but I will show you how to set it up for my internet provider. Your router may be different, so a quick google search may help you.First of all go to your router page (mine is http://192.168.1.254 )Then go to your firewall/portforward section. (Something similar to mine maybe?)

For me, after going to this screen, it asks me to log in. Put in your password which may be found on the side of your router. Now once you are on the port forwarding section. I have to add a custom service.

Now, I have to add a custom service. But, the ports that you need to portforward is port 7500 for BOTH TCP and UDP.

Once I add the service, I have to assign the service to the device. I know that for other routers, you may have to assign it to your device's local IP address. If you router is like this, I suggest that you look up a portforwarding video using your type of router. (EX: Someone might do a video using your router for setting up a Minecraft server, it's the same concept, but different ports.)

Once you add/assign the service. Everything should be set for the port-forwarding aspect of this.
    This concludes the port-forwarding section.
(H) - Setting Up the Server
We are going to start by going into the Vanguard Princess directory and opening the MTSP.exe(Do note that MTSP.exe CAN be added as a Non-Steam game for convenience.)
Now, because these are the instructions for the host, we need you public IP which can be found here: www.whatismyip.com You are going to want to copy it.

Now that you have your IP copied, you are going to want to go back to the MTSP window.Go to the Encrypt IP tab and paste your IP into the Unencrypted box. Then you want to want to press the Encrypt button, which will output a set of numbers which are VERY important. So go ahead and copy it.

Now go to the Select Mode tab and make sure you are on the Server mode. Then you paste the server name as the encrypted IP and press OK.

After you press OK, you should be addressed with a box asking you to select a game executable path. Press "OK".Now a window called Options should open. You first want to go to the "..." box in the Game Executable section. Then you want to go to the Vanguard Princess file directory if you aren't already there. Then you select "vanprinet.exe" and press open. Then press Apply and OK.
From here you are done setting up for the host.
(C) - Joining the Server
Now, as the client, our job is much simpler. First make sure you are in the Select Mode tab in MTSP.Change your mode to Client and put in your friend's encrypted IP into the destination IP box. After that press OK.

After this you should connect to the server.
(B) - Challenging/Fighting Your Friend
When everyone is in the server, you are going to want to right click your friend and press Challenge. This should give them a notification, and if they accept the game will open and you will be able to play.
This is marked as Both because either player can do it.
(EXTRA) - Changing Your In-Game Name
You can change your name by going to the Options tab in the Startup window.
You can do this by typing in your name before you join a server. OR, if you are already in a server, you can type in /restart in the chat to open the Startup box again.
(Or you could just restart MTSP, whatever makes more sense to you.)
(EXTRA) - Changing Game Settings
Once you are connected to the server or are hosting the server, you want to go to the Options (O) tab at the top. Then press Settings (S).

You then want to go to the Game tab. From there you can change the game settings to your liking.
Then press Apply and OK.

(EXTRA) - Replays
Yes, this game does save replays. It is not a video file though.
First, you want to go to you Options tab and go to Settings.
Once the Options window opens, you should be in the General tab, if not, go to it.
(Note, I don't believe I had this setting on and it already automatically saved my replays, so I'm not 100% sure on this)
Make sure Autosave Replays is on, then press Apply and OK.

After you have played with your friend, you may want to watch the replay.
First you want to go to File > Replay File Playback. Then a window should open asking you to select a replay.
Now, once you press Open, you may notice that the game opens up. Not to worry, that is the replay. You can watch and will notice that the game starts playing by itself/follows the same buttons pressed when you played the game with your friend.
If you want to record this as a video, you can find some sort of video recording software.
(CREDITS) - How I Made This Guide
I would first like to credit xCROOKEDx for making this POST on setting up multiplayer. Her post was very helpful, but I wasn't able to get all of the information I needed.

I then had to go to a few Japanese websites to find out how to use MTSP as most MTSP servers for Vanguard Princess are dead and very laggy. (So dead you'd be lucky to find an Auto-Moderator in them)

Final credits go tothe devlopers of the game for making a great game.
Issues?
If you are having issues message me on Steam or on this Guide so I can assist you and update the guide.

Thanks for the guide, I love fighting games and am looking to try and play people. I might try to host open servers too.

@^*SaoSin*^ Yeah. You would definitely get a better experience with another game. You might want to look at SkullGirls. If someone had a decent server to host MTSP, then we wouldn't have to go through as much to play with people. Anyways, your best chance on playing with people is if you get your friends or if you post something in the discussions section.
But in the end of things, this game is dying out. It's still fun, but the hype/popularity is pretty much over now.

I wish there was an open server for this game soo I could just join and play with whoever is there. Because it is hard to find someone who would try that whole thing described here and play regulary.
