main problems on passion project
let's be real, a lot of us want creator point so bad.

we tried to make some cool levels but sometimes we forgot that our level creating skill is not good enough and our expectation really set the standard for ourselves and exceed that limit. which, lead us to frustration and quit the game forev....

ok i kid. so, how are we supposed to do in order to level up our skill and be able to create whatever we want?

disclaimer, i'm not a pro creator nor having received any creator point. but i want to share my experience on making custom level in gd, and from what i understand while watching youtube tips video

the success key for any of passion project like making geometry dash level has a principle:
make the system, not game (inspired by MMqd)
game is about arranging elements altogether. if you can’t make elements, you can’t make a game. making level is like putting all of your creating skill into one place. it's clear that it's DIFFICULT to make good levels while having no certain skill so-called Make Assets.

here's a quick cheatsheet
step 1: think of every aspects involved in your level
when you imagine your level, think of what kind of aspects or elements involved in your level. is it the block design, the visual effects, or complicated trigger system. after that, you must…
step 2: practice design & vfx on an empty level/worksheet
the next thing you must do is practice yourself to build assets.

if you’re confused with block design and keep imagining how the level looks. i highly recommend you to go create new level and experiment there. whether it’s visual effect, block design, or trigger experiment.

the best part of this method even if your REAL work don’t finished, you can share it to other people that you’ve made something cool. then, once you’ve skilled enough to create everything you need. now you can…
step 3: Build the level
this is the true test of all struggle you’ve been through from the practice to bring all assets you’ve made to your dream level. when you finally be able to create cool stuff, now jump into your REAL level project and create anything you want

happy creating!
