Game Coming to Early Access October 9th - SIGN UP HERE
Release date: Early 2016

Hanako - Soul of the Samurai journeys through a beautiful, fictional rendition of 16th century Feudal Japan. Players choose between four types of warriors as they learn to master intuitive, directionally-driven swordplay to ensure victory over their foes. Hanako - Soul of the Samurai features full skill trees per class to boost key stats and choose powerful abilities, engaging multi-map online campaigns and easy to learn but difficult to master combat that seeks to be more than slow gestural combat or simple hack-n-slash.

The artistic qualities and backstory of the game serve as a symbolic tribute to team lead Matt Canei's late mother, and loved ones lost during the production of the game. The territories and war of the game represent an everlasting struggle of life-and-death, health-and-disease and the natural balance of opposing forces to metaphorically represent real life tragedies and to honor those lost.

What kind of gameplay is this game offering?
We plan to offer a multiplayer experience with several modes of gameplay expanding beyond
just Team Deathmatch. We are very happy with the modes we have come up with, twists that
we think will make many players happy. Unfortunately we are unable to show them all now but
rest assured that when we think they are good enough to show we will do just that.

Any customization for the different character classes?
We are planning on adding some customization to the characters. Like all things this will be
determined by effort needed/ budget.

Will the game have any single-player gameplay?
No this version won’t have any single player gameplay going on. That does not mean we don’t
have plans for any just not for this title . Honestly this will be a good test bed for things like
single player titles and more.

Will this game have some sort of look into the Feudal Japanese era?
There are plans to have places where players can learn more about the actual Sengoku period
and not just our fictional rendition of it. We encourage people to tell us what they love to know
more about.

Are you planning on bringing the game to other platforms?
Other systems is something we would like to strive for. If we can do it/ what other systems we
would go onto are still up in the air questions. Are first and foremost goal is making this game
the best it can be for here.

What’s with the graphics? I want crispy clear graphics XD
The graphics of the game now are an aesthetic choice we consciously decided to make. We will however always keep striving to take the style we have chosen and make it the best we can. We still have some ways to go in production so what you see now may not be what you see 6 months from now. Think of hyper-real (like a CoD-type game) as one end of a spectrum and a game like Okami as the other end. We are looking for a sweet spot in the middle that allows us creative freedom to explore the allegorical segments of the game (symbolism) but still have a high quality that performs well on low-to-mid range rigs.

Animations don’t seem very good...
This project is still in its early stages. Our production line is make > test > refine. What we have
here for animations will most likely not be here by the time we are done. It’s like a cartoon
show, watch an episode from this year and then another from the series a year or more back,
they don’t look the same. Neither will ours as we constantly keep making, testing, and refining
our animations too. We won't ship "why's he have a stick in his butt" animations :P

What languages will this game be in?
Well English first and foremost but we plan to do at least 3-4 others. In fact we put out a survey
to collect answers from you as to what language do you play your games in which you can fill out at

Why isn't the game done yet/coming out so far away?
Being an unfunded indie studio presents significant challenges, even getting to Greenlight has been a significant feat for our team. To get the game done right, and give it the level of polish it deserves after such a long investment, it needs to go through Greenlight and Kickstarter to give us the resources, and most importantly a community of supporters (and constructive critics) to get the game where it needs to be. We'll finish it either way, but this gives us the best shot of delivering you all the best game we can with our resources, and hopefully keep making more.

Where can I get more information about the game?
We always welcome feedback/questions. If you post them we will answer and hopefully have a
really nice dialogue. Here are just a few ways to get in contact with us

I hope the multiplayer will be as big as Jedi Academy, and doesn't die out like Blade Symphony, hopefully lol
