TTT - The Basics
By RangerLab
Ayyy lmao. So this guide is designed to teach new players how to play the Gamemode Trouble in Terrorist Town. If you're looking for tips and tricks, maybe you'll find them here, but this really is for the people who want to play like a pro without all the mistakes. A little bit about me, I used to be the Co Owner (aka Taco Jesus) of The Taco Stand TTT Server (before it was shut down, RIP never forget), and I've clocked in nearly 600 hours (25 days) for the gamemode alone. I earned that rank, moving up through the ranks, earning my staff position, so you can know I'm a well seasoned TTT player.
So, hopefully this helps. Enjoy!

Why should you play TTT?
I've had played for a while and I think I have my answer. Don't play it for gameplay. You'll become bored real fast. Play it to meet people! Sure TTT is fun, but I think what mostly drew me to it, was the cool and funny people I met and befriended. Sure, you'll meet giant wieners who want to ruin your day, and maybe you'll encounter entire servers of the sort. But just keep looking, and I'm sure you'll find the community that's right for you :^)
Gameplay Basics
So you might have seen some YouTuber play TTT and you want to check it out, it looks fun, but you might not quite know how to play. Yes, there are rules on how to play in game, but I feel like I should just add my little touch into this. So,

When the round starts you are one of three players;
A Traitor
An Innocent
or A Detective
This tell's you what you are, and is at the bottom left hand side of the screen. The red bar is your health and the yellow is ammunition in current gun.

The Traitor
You are a Traitor. Your goal is to kill all of the Innocents/Detectives. Pressing C opens up a shop where you can buy cool traitor-exclusive items to kill with, but be warned HOLDING THESE WEAPONS OUT WILL CAUSE PEOPLE TO SHOOT AT YOU!!! You can get more credits by killing detectives, or picking them up off of dead Traitors or Detectives. There are several ways of completing your goal, for begginers, staying away from the main group and hunting the lone people usually works. Just remember, you may have Traitor Buddies, other players that are Traitors, and DO NOT KILL THEM. Work with them :3

The Innocent
You are an Innocent. Your goal is to kill all of the Traitors, but you don't know who's on what team! You must walk around like a cow, waiting for slaughter, until a Traitor leaves some trail for you to follow. Stay with the group, but never get too close. IDENTIFY BODIES YOU FIND!!! You will probably find some Unidentified bodies (when you look at it, yellow text will be over their body stating it's UnIded, or if it was already identified, it will have their name). Not IDing these bodies is traitorous and may result in your death.
As an Innocent, you do not have the right to shoot unless you are shot at. You shoot at someone who has committed a Traitorous act (this will be discussed later). When someone starts shooting at you, most people yell "KOS [Insert profane username here]," To declare their attacker is the Traitor. Even if you die, everyone will know who the traitor is.

The Detective
You are the Detective. You are on the Innocent's team, and you share the same goal. As a Detective, you're proven, so everyone know's you are not a Traitor, and they can trust you. Or kill you first.
You have a bit more power than the Innocents. By pressing C, you open up the detective shop, and you can buy Detective exclusive items to assist in the finding of Traitors. You can get more credits for the shop by getting them off of a dead traitor body or from other dead Detectives.

The round ends when:
All of the Traitors are dead, the Innocents win.
All of the Innocents (including detectives) are dead, the Traitors win.
Time runs out, the Innocents win.
Terms/Codewords
There is a special language for Trouble in terrorist town. Here's some of the terminology you should probably have from the start:

KOS- Kill on Sight.
T- Traitor.
D- Detective
Inno- Innocent
C4- A composite explosive that is ignited by the combination of heat and a shockwave. In the game, it's a T weapons and is set to a time, and it explodes. These can be defused.
RDM- The actual meaning of the acronym is debated. It is most commeny assumed to be Random Death Match (though this can't be true.) It simply refers to the killing of someone without reason. A common misconception is that Innos can't RDM Ts. "I didn't RDM, he was a T!" If you don't have a reason for shooting someone, don't do it. We will discuss punishment for RDMers later.
Mass RDM- Mass killing of people on a server (when they're obviously innocent).

Possible meanings of RDM-
Random Death Match, The entire TTT Community
RanDom Murder, PiraticPyro
Random Donut Munching, Cispierce
Punishments for RDM
It varies from server to server on the punishment, so I'll use the Taco Stand for an example.
Karma Loss
This is the one constant between servers. If you kill another innocent, you lose karma, same with killing another T. It's not a perfect system, however, so that's why staff play to further punish trolls.
Slay
Usually, 1 person RDMed by you = 1 slay for you. It just means you cannot play for x rounds (X being amount of slays put on you).
Kick/Votekick
Kicking isn't used much for RDM on TTS, but it might be on other servers. On The Taco Stand, Donors and Trusted Tacos (ranks on the server) have the power to start a Votekick. This just puts up a vote to ask the server whether a player should be kicked. This is used when there's no staff online, and the player is mass RDMing/similar situation.
Ban
Most common punishment for Mass RDM on the Taco Stand, players will be banned for a certain amount of time.
What's a Traitorous act?
Several things can be considered Traitorous, so keep in mind that this is a basic guideline. Some are disputed, and are different from SERVER TO SERVER. Make sure you read the server rules and ask a staff/regular member about some of the disputed rules.

Traitorous Acts:
Holding a T weapon
Exceptions may be if the D and T both have access to a weapon (On my server, the Ts and Ds both can get a grapple hook), but you have to state that a detective dropped it for you or that you got it off of a ded T/D. Annonce it as soon as you pick it up, and don't be an idiot with T-exclusive weapons. People will might think you're a T if you're running around with a rocket launcher out, even if you've declared you picked it up.
Killing someone
Even if you've killed a T, with every reason, make sure you KOS before you kill. People might not see the T just blow someone up and then run away from an UnIDed, but they did just see you shoot that person in the back, and will proceed to do the same. Others might just assume you RDMed if you don't announce it.
Walking by UnIDed Bodies
Throwing grenades
Some servers have rules for certain maps, other just say no grenade throwing at all, and it depends on the server. It's even disputed within the Taco Stand whether throwing Incins/Discombobs on all maps or certain maps are KOSable (It's technically all maps, but that's besides the point).
Good habits
Some tips I have for everyone, from my experience
Communicate
Talk to people. If you see a murder, say it. That guy looks fishy? It's just his player model, he's a fish. But he's also suspicous, so tell people you think so. Also, as a T, MAKE SURE YOUR TEAM KNOWS WHAT YOU'RE DOING WITH TEAM CHAT. If you're going to go in guns blazing, warn them. Certainly warn them if you're going to Jihad or plant C4. The other day I was reported for RDM because my T buddy didn't see my C4 or hear me warn him that I planted it.
Take everything with a grain of salt
I don't like to kill someone because someone told me too. I need hard evidence that they're a T. It does give the T a bit of an advantage, yes, but for your long term survival on a server, it's a lot better. You'll be trusted a lot more, and you'll have better Karma.
Try not to be alone
It seems suspicous and you'll probably end up getting shot in the back anyways.
Mess with people's mind
"KOS RangerLab!" "What? KOS For False KOS, scrub." I've now created doubt. I'm the T, I shot at this player, but who's telling the truth? No body knows, and while you do this, you might be able to get away and cause some chaos, possibly pick up some more kills.
Radio Calls
Suggested by Mattishere4u
So this is one that I have gotten into rather recently (hence why it had to be suggested). Radio calls are things that you can quickly say, that change with who you're looking at, so you can KOS someone without taking the time to type or yell. The menu is bound to your "SuitZoom" Key, which by default is not bound at all. Going into the controls will allow you to change that. I have mine bound to x. Just look at a person, press the key and select the number next to your desired message. Thanks Matt, for the suggestion!
Watch your step!
Suggested by Dr.Doongleberry {GFL}
This one is very simple, yet important. Many times have I fallen off of ledges either dying or getting hurt, drawing suspicion to myself. Even if people don't question why you're missing health, you're going to be at a severe disadvantage in a fight with lower health, both T and Inno.
Use your Surroundings
Suggested by [EMS] Agent Pyrobot
Learn the map and use it to your advantage. Try and herd people to dangerous places (but try not to make it so obvious.) Plant C4 in areas where people hang out or are moving frequently. Divert attention from a crime scene with an exploding barrel. Be creative!
A Final Word
I would like to remind everyone that rules/technicalities for TTT Change per server. Players might be able to KOS for grenades on one map, but it's different for the next. READ THE SERVER RULES BEFORE PLAYING.

I'm just human, and this Guide is probably full of mistakes, so please, if you have any suggestions to include, feel free to comment them :3

Thanks guys!

Sülün, how many players do you use to play on your server? If you haven't messed with the settings, there needs to be 10 players before they start showing up.

Nope! Any gamemode or anything downloaded from the Steam Workshop shouldn't be a virus. I've never experienced anything of the sort, at least.
