Introduction
Greetings, young one. It appears your attempt at ascension has ended in failure, and your soul has been cast down from the heavens. Yet, fret not—for the cycle of rebirth grants you another chance. You shall soon awaken once more in the mortal realm.

Having spent countless millennia secluded in your damp cave, cut off from worldly affairs, it is only natural that the ways of mortals now seem foreign and bewildering to you. Thus, this humble guide has been penned, to aid you in understanding the trials and tribulations of mortal life, to help you survive, and, if Heaven permits, to carve a new legacy beneath the stars.

A word of caution: You return not as a prodigy, nor a dragon among men, but as a mere mortal with no hint of cultivation talent. This is the consequence of grievous karma—for trampling an entire city with your celestial steed in the immortal realm. Until such karmic debt is repaid, you are bound to the path of mortality.
Lore
For decades, the upper elites have indulged in extravagance while the common people struggled to get by. This growing disparity bred resentment, and eventually, the people’s frustration boiled over into a full-blown rebellion. Rebels swept through the cities, looting and killing officials in their path.

Your clan was caught off guard by the sudden uprising. With no time to prepare, the elders made a desperate decision: they would stay behind and fight to buy time for the young adults and children to escape. Thanks to their sacrifice, you managed to flee.

You sought refuge in your ancestral home, a place long abandoned and fallen into disrepair. Though it is run-down and crumbling, you have resolved to rebuild. You will restore your clan to its former glory, no matter the cost.

How to raise stats?
Your character's stats increase by 0.002 for every 1 point. At 100 stat points, you gain a total of 0.20.

You can increase stats through:
  • Private School
  • Training Ground
  • Private Teachers
  • Study School
  • Books
  • Certain Interactions
  • Stage

Private schools/ Training ground
Private Schools increase Writing, Arts, and Business.
Training Grounds increase Might only.

Private Teachers
Increase Writing, Arts, Business, Might, and Renown

Study School
To study your Your character must be 18+ years old and own a horse to attend.
Four schools exist, each with three levels, for Writing, Arts, Business, and Might.
A level three school increases your stat by 40.

Books
Books can be purchased in province city bookstores.
Books raise stats by 1, 2, 3 or more but take months or years to finish.
To avoid manually assigning books each time a character is finished reading, build a library and enable auto-learn on characters.

Certain Interactions
Actions like Discuss Arts, Write Poetry, or Friendly Sparring can boost Arts, Writing, or Might respectively, if your stat is lower than the other person's.

Stage
Stages increase arts of underaged clan members all you need to do is put retainers on the stage and arrange a play. You can get more plays by buying it through popup events.

Marriage
If your characters spouse has died do not be afraid as you can remarry, the status will be from now on remarried.

The character is limited to having 2 children.

When a character gets married they get the marriage stat which determines if the couple would get a child or a divorce. The higher the stat the higher chance the wife gets pregnant.

The character regains the marriage stat per month based on the characters mood.

Ways to get married
There are four main ways to get married in the game:
  1. Propose to a Civilian
  2. Use the Matchmaker
  3. Courtesans at the Courtesan Lounge (you need to drink with the courtesan until she ask for marriage)
  4. Marry into a Clan or the Imperial Family (this is the hardest method for early and early mid players because some clans won't even marry into yours unless you have high renown and position)

How do I get Married?
To marry, you must offer a dowry. The required value depends on who you're marrying:
Proposing to a civilian npc, a dowry worth 500 to 4,000 coins is usually enough.
For npc's with clans a dowry worth around 20,000 coins or more would be enough.

If the marriage offer fails, you can buy all the jewelry from multiple Jewelry Stores and different provinces then gift all of them to them usually this method works if not then you need to increase your characters renown and position.

Concubines
If you have a high position you're allowed to marry multiple concubines but marrying multiple people will lower your other spouse/spouses mood and marriage.
Children
The best way to raise your child is aiming for a more all round stats build then just having one high stats and every other low.

For example if your child has a writing talent you should give them writing books, their private school on arts and business while their private teacher is focused on might, this way all their stats stays high combined this with scholar shrine, warrior shrine and fortune shrine.

The best month to get pregnant is April. If you conceive in April, your child will be born at the end of January, giving them the maximum time to grow and prepare before starting school. But if you conceive in March, they’ll be born at the end of December and they'll turn two just a day after being born on paper. So choosing April gives your child the biggest head start.

Talent, Stats & Child Development
Talent levels work similarly to skills, but in the English version of the game, you can't see a character’s talent level, this feature is only visible in the Chinese version.

Baby stats are influenced by the base stats of their parents. If both parents have high stats, the child will generally have higher potential.

To increase a character’s Cunning, have them perform ploys or read cunning-related books.

Early Childhood (Ages 1–7)
When a child is born, check their stats especially Luck. If you're unsatisfied with their stats or talent level, you can savescum until you roll a desirable set. Skills don't matter too much, but if you want to give them one, Sorcery is a good option. It lets them curse other npcs at the cost of some health, which can easily be restored through a high Quality of Life at your main estate or by using snacks and medicine.

To raise their Arts stat early:
  • Assign private teachers
  • Enable auto-borrowing from the library
  • Place retainers on stages they grant large Arts gains over time

Pre-Teens & Teens (Ages 8–17)
Once the child turns 8, you can send them to Private School or a Training Ground, depending on which stat you want to focus on (Might, Writing, or Business). Arts isn't a concern, as stages will passively increase it. Build shrines you get 1 for every 10 levels, shrine bonuses stack. Change private teachers and relocate them to different training centers when a stat nears 100, to balance their overall growth.

Adulthood (Age 18+)
At 18, your child officially becomes an adult. You can send them to travel school for additional stat boosts, Arrange marriages to produce even stronger children and use them in various roles like reclaiming cities, taking exams, or managing affairs.

Exam

To become an official, your character must pass all five exams. Upon passing the Ultimate Exam, they will be promoted directly to the 7th rank.

Exam success is determined primarily by the character’s Writing and Luck stats. The higher these attributes, the better their chance of passing.

After passing the ultimate exam you will get a position that fits your exam ranking after which you will be assigned to a city, it's randomly decided what role you get.

If your clan has a member serving as the Rites Minister, they can rewrite failed results and allow other clan members to pass, it's not cheating if your uncle is the Chancellor.

Your character isn't allowed to take an exam if they have a position in the military, city or the imperial court. They have to resign first before they are allowed to take it. You're still allowed to take the exam if your character position is below the 4th rank.

Military Path
How to Become a Military Officer?
To become a military officer, a clan member must earn military merits by participating in battles. You should save your game just before a battle ends, and if your character doesn't get promoted, reload and try again.

How do battles start?
Battles can be initiated in two ways: either by selecting a rebel-claimed city and choosing "Reclaim It Yourself," which requires you to be an officer and provide your own supplies such as rice, vegetables, and meat, or by selecting "Ask the Empire To Reclaim It," which doesn’t require supplies but also doesn’t let you control the number of soldiers sent; additionally, battle events can occur randomly, allowing you to send clan members to participate and earn merits.

How to get an army for war?
There are several ways to gather an army:

Imperial Path
If you're the War Minister, you gain access to the Imperial Army. However, War Ministers can’t fight in battles as supreme generals, so have a backup officer clan member ready. The Imperial Army only replenishes troops monthly if the treasury has no debts.

Civil Service Path
If a clan member governs a city or province, they can dispatch local soldiers. To increase troop numbers, you must enlist peasants. High enlistment causes unrest. If discontent rises too much, chaos will erupt.

Li Guangbi Path
You can persuade rebel forces to surrender. To do this:
Raise relations with the rebel camp through donating food around 600k rice should give 100 relations.
Send a retainer with high Cunning to negotiate.
If successful, the rebel army joins your city and can be enlisted.
If it fails, relations drop with that rebel city.

How to get titles and fiefs?
Fiefs come together with noble titles. To earn them, you must be a xuanwei general and successfully reclaim a province city. This is RNG-based, so it’s recommended to save before the battle ends and reload if needed.

You get to keep the title and fiefs if your character dies, it goes to the characters child.

What to do If you're outnumbered in Battle?
If you're in this position, your best option is to hire retainers with high cunning and send them to the rebel camp to demoralize them, but there's a risk that they get captured and beheaded.

How to send retainers/clan members to demoralize the enemy?
  1. Click on the News article: “The Royal Army is attacking [City].” or go to the Overworld Map and select the battle icon.
  2. Choose “Shake the enemy’s morale.”
  3. Assign a retainer or clan member to the task.

Rebels Are Our Friends :) Tactic
If there's a clan you dislike, you can use rebels to do your dirty work. Send rebels to their residence to eliminate their members. It won't kill the entire clan, but it will take out a few and best of all, it doesn’t hurt your relationship with them, since technically, you didn’t attack them the rebels did.

If there aren’t any rebel groups in the same province as your target, you can raise discontent in a city near the clan. Once discontent is too high a rebellion breaks out and a rebel force takes over, build up your relationship with them by donating items. Once they're friendly enough, you can direct them to attack the clan you want to weaken.

This method is especially more fun for assassinating powerful figures like the Chancellor during their vacation in January.

Louis XVI Tactic
If someone who you dislike is an official like for example a governor of a certain city you can raise discontent when the rebellion breaks every official in that city gets beheaded including any official clan members, so you should resign that character before they die.

Raise Discontent Quickly
Have a clan member as the Industry Minister and demolish buildings to stir discontent.
Alternatively, have a Civil Minister appoint one of your clan members as a city governor, then raise taxes and enlist troops to rapidly increase discontent.
Spreadsheet
This spreadsheet contains books, rebel donations, medicine/poison and traits.
You get medicine and poison through random events where a npc comes to asking if you want to buy it.

Some items like the +11 jewelry is only available through the clan pawn store.

I am still working on it.

One strategy I use is to fund the rebels to lower their morale and then to persuade the rebels to surrender. I just place whoever as the city leaders, preferably the clans that I am close with.

The rebels become the city troops and I can call upon the, when I take over a city without the King's troops so I can gain fiefs.

ANyone know where to get the candles ? The ones used for the shrines to raise your Writing and Might states.

btw, if you build the stage, you get a passive boost to your Arts talent each month.

The way I typical raise the stats of my children is raise all the stats. My private teacher raises the main talent. I use private schools to raise my writing and business. The training ground for might only. Don't need arts as it's taken care of by the stage.

Say my child has a main might talent. His / her private teacher focuses on might and I put him / her into a private school with writing and business teachers. The books take care of any stats that lags behind.

@shn897 you need to totally enclose your estate with gate and walls. In farms, you use fences.

also, can you explain how tax appropriation works? i have a feeling my county magistrate might be promoted to a province official after we reclaim it in this battle. last time my clan member was exiled bc i simply refused after trying to figure it out.

ex: the tax due was like 1890.4k. between 9 places thats like 210k and not everyone has that to give. i suppose if i took everyones money it may have totalled that number. but is that even the goal? to take money until i reach my tax burden?

im wondering how you got your revenue numbers? i maxed out all my shops in level and workers and theyre all short. for example, my general store only makes about 5500 and thats at 200 coins as pay. and several people walked away when i dropped my tea shops pay from 1000 to 800. so unless youre either paying 100 coins or no coins, youre not going to reach that kind of revenue

Tip to quickly refresh npc to find desired stats. When in city enter build mode and exit and npc will refresh. Seems like all npcs are removed when entering build mode thats why.

@Elzabar If you sign up several members if your clan and they have same writing stat(?) it seems like the one you sign up first gets highest place.

In the exams before ultimate exam there's no difference between getting first place and not, except that title, maybe slight more renown gain.

To give positions to your clan members they have to have reached a certain rank first.
(Small towns around the provinces are rank 6-7. Provinces are rank 4-5).
Either by completing the ultimate exam and gain Jinshi title, or by getting an officer rank by participating in wars.

You can only get promoted from one rank to a higher rank by being in a official position.

You're not forced to remarry to royal family, you could decline, but if you want a higher chance of your brother getting the wife, try clicking him first when the exam comes up, and he'll most likely get the higher position in the exam

Nvm, I got the exam the following month. LOL.

I got second and third place this time. However, I was forced to remarry into the Royal Court. I was going to pass off my former wife to become a concubine of my brother but she disappeared from the game. I purposefully not have my brother take a concubine especially for this purpose if I got had the chance to marry into the Royal Court, it would be my brother.
