Grey Matter is fairly easy
By Replicore
Grey Matter is considered to be fairly difficult, as you can judge by the Discussions section. I also considered it to be like that back when I started playing it. However, you cannot even believe just how easy it will become if you do some of the stuff that's right in the tutorial.

All the basics you need to know
Ok. so you have started Grey Matter, failed several times and don't know what to do. Believe it or not, the game is far easier than you think, even on Expert mode.

Instructions to the game clearly state: Killing 3 enemies of the same type will cause a trinity attack, killing everything incased in its outline.
What you aren't told is that that killing 3 enemies of the same type also helps you increase the score number quite significantly. This is where we also make it easier to get the score achievements. You will earn all of them as soon as you get to the x20 point, which I personally did in the first section of the game.

Score points are your main currency and your main chance of survival that you can use. My personal tactic is to get as many points in the first sections as possible. Kill only the enemies of the same type, and try to not break the chain. Killing small brain enemies - focus on them and only when the trinity attack is made - get to the next type of enemy if you see 3 of them. Every now and then you will get to the point when the type of enemy only appears in the beginning of the wave, and then you are flooded with the other types of enemies. Don't worry, the type you need will also appear, but it will take a bit of time, so if you are trying to get a high score - wait a bit and try to dodge.

The easiest strategy is to farm the points in the beginning of the game, when it's not that difficult. You can use the points whenever you want just by pressing Esc, so respawn isn't the only option of using the points when you have enough. 1) Always max out the shield first, since it will increase your chances of survival. Maxing out the second skill is also fine. Boost is completely optional and is up to you. As for me, I just used the level 1 or level 2 boost.

The late game boss is also fairly easy. Get the trinity attack that will trap the boss inside of it, this will damage the boss and also let you get to the next stage, where the type of enemy changes and the boss become a bit more difficult to damage, especially when it is moving on the latest stages. The final stage involves quite a lot of dodging and bullet hell, but the enemies will actually appear soon. The final type is the big brain, and they even spawn from the upper right and left corner and from the middle bottom portion, so try to attack them as soon as possible and damage the boss to finish the game.

Farming points in the late game is quite easy too. If you don't have many lives, just try to get as far as you can in the boss fight and get surprised by the sheer number of score on the screen. You can easily get 60 000 or 80 000 points during the boss fight and quickly use them to get more extra lives, making the boss fight easier.

SHORT version: Read the instruction in the beginning of the game, the key is right in front of you, and it's fairly easy to farm the points. Good luck with the achievements and have a great time enjoying Grey Matter, along with the other amazing games in The Basement Collection.

The guide was written pretty late, but I just didn't see any other Grey Matter guide that focuses on the game, so there you go!
