The MixMaker
The MixMaker is a tool I wrote to help you get exactly the drugs you want.
It has 3 functions:
  • Recipe finder
  • Simulator
  • Optimizer

You can open it using this link: MixMaker[mixmaker.monoblos.com]

Some general hints to making drugs with extra effects:
  • Every effect comes with a bonus score (a multiplier for the base value of the drug)
  • Every ingredient has a base effect it adds and a specific set of other effects it transforms
  • Drugs can have up to 8 effects. Adding more ingredients afterwards can only transform the existing effects, not add new ones.
  • Effects are both noticeable when taking the drug yourself and when selling it to others.
Recipe Finder
The recipe finder helps you find a specific effect combination.

[1] To do so, first select the base drug and the maximum amount of combination steps you want to do. Then you can either calculate all those combinations locally or load them from the server.
Solution sets from the server always have 8 steps.
Local calculation time greatly depends on CPU power and steps selected.

[2] Then select the effects you want in the resulting drug. The tool will search for a drug that includes all effects selected, but it may have additional effects. Hovering over an effect with the mouse will show you some details. The 8 effects marked in green give the highest multiplier while the 8 red ones give no bonus to the value of the drug.

Finally press "Find best option" to get a recipe, including some stats to it. If there is no result found, the combination is not possible for the base drug with the specified steps.

There is also a link at the bottom to bring you to the simulation page with the result configured.
Simulator

In the Simulator you can quickly try out different ingredient combinations to find out what drugs they would produce. To do this, first select the base drug you want to start with and then add the list of ingredients that you want to apply.
The left column is the current list of ingredients selected, the right one contains all ingrediens currently available in the game.
Ingredients can be added using drag and drop anywhere into the list or by clicking on them added at the bottom of the list. You can add the same ingredient multiple times. You can remove them from the list using the X on the right side.
You can view the intermediate steps you had at any time by moving the mouse over any of the selected ingredients. The result at the bottom will then display the resulting drug at that point.

You can also share links to any combination you made this way, as the URL is permanently updated to the current recipe.
Profit Optimizer

The profit optimizer can calculate the highest value drug you can produce. To use it, first select the base drug you want to use, then specify the steps you want to take.
The calculation time greatly depends on CPU power and steps selected.
Optionally you can also select your current rank or a custom set of ingredients to use. This helps you to already find high value combinations before unlocking all ingredients or allows you to produce some ethnical product without gasoline, batteries or motor oil in it.
Selecting the "per step profit" option will maximize the value increase per mixing step. This will mostly like suggest adding only one ingredient, as efficiency tends to decrease per mix.

There is also a link at the bottom to bring you to the simulation page with the result configured.
FAQ
Why does the page look so simple?
Efficency is king and I'm not a designer. Maybe it will get nicer some day. Maybe.

Why does it take so long to generate?
Because it has to load a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of combinations.
Thought about just caching it all on a server with an API to find what you want but then I can't host it for free on GitHub. So best I could do was to provide an 8-step solution that can be unpacked in a few seconds.

Why does the drag'n'drop not work using touch input?
Because the default browser implementation for drag and drop somehow doesn't support it and I didn't use any UI framework that implements it better.

Will this be updated in the future?
Most likely. With the base setup of how mixing works done, all I need to do is add new Ingredients/Effects to the list, which shouldn't be much effor to maintain.

Really cool tool, makes it very easy to find a mix for a potential customer. One cool feature to add might be to create profiles of the effects each potential customer in the game prefers and then combine that with the recipe finder to find a good mix for specific customers.

Moved the tool from GitHub to Cloudflare. There was a 100 GB monthly traffic limit on GitHub. Page itself is only 12KB, but the 20MB per solution loaded could use up the traffic fast and GitHub offers nothing for me to see how much traffic is left.

wow, this is incredible. Especially because it's hard to find specific mixes through internet searches alone

Yeah, probably not useful to optimze for "per step" profit, just added it because I could :conwayshrug:

Does per step profit really matter? I mean if there's only a few steps it'll get mixed way faster than plants can grow, or meth can cook... right?

Anyway, very nice tool.
