Commands Method - Enabling HDR & Configurations
Enabling HDR
  • Launch the command menu (tilde button on your keyboard) for QWERTY keyboards this key is above the TAB button
  • Type Altar.GraphicsOptions.HDR 1 then hit enter to enable HDR
  • Type Altar.GraphicsOptions.HDRWhitePoint 1000
    Replace "1000" with the peak nits of your monitor, for example if you're on HDR 400 then this would be 400, HDR 10 would be 1000 etc

Configuration Preferences
The following configurations do NOT save after a restart and they're based on your preferences, if you want these configurations to save then check out the System Files Method below
  • r.HDR.UI.Luminance 100
    This will change the brightness of your interface, you can change this from 100 to your maximum peak nits of your monitor
  • r.HDR.Display.MidLuminance 20
    This will change the grey levels, increasing the number will make your game brighter
System Files Method - Enabling HDR & Configurations
The following method will permanently save your configurations upon rebooting the game

Enabling HDR
  • Launch the GameUserSettings.ini file
    %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\Config\Windows\GameUserSettings.ini
  • Change bUseHDRDisplayOutput to True
    bUseHDRDisplayOutput=True
  • Change HDRDisplayOutputNits to your peak nits of your monitor
    HDRDisplayOutputNits=1000
  • Save the file

Configuration Preferences
  • Launch the Engine.ini file
    %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\Config\Windows\Engine.ini
  • Add the following code at the bottom of the file
    [SystemSettings] r.HDR.UI.Luminance=100 r.HDR.Display.MidLuminance=20
    Change the values of the numbers to your preferences
    UI Luminance - Changes the brightness of your interface, you can change this from 100 to your maximum peak nits of your monitor
    Mid Luminance - Changes the grey levels, increasing the number will make your game brighter
  • Save the file

Default Configurations
These are the values of the default configurations in case you wanted to reset back to default
  • Altar.GraphicsOptions.HDR 0
  • Altar.GraphicsOptions.HDRWhitePoint 1000
  • r.HDR.UI.Luminance 300
  • r.HDR.Display.MidLuminance 18
Alternative HDR Options
Nvidia RTX HDR
You will need an Nvidia RTX card

While Nvidia RTX HDR is impressive, I personally don't recommend it if you also use the other RTX features such as DLSS and Frame Generation due to performance and input latency issues that RTX HDR causes

If you don't use other RTX features and want a simple solution for multiple games to support HDR then Nvidia RTX HDR is a great option for you

Quick tutorial on enabling Nvidia RTX
  • Download Nvidia App (not Nvidia GeForce Experience)[www.nvidia.com]
  • Go to Nvidia App > Graphics > Global Settings > RTX HDR > set to ON
  • Go to Nvidia App > Settings > Nvidia Overlay > set to ON
  • Go to Nvidia App > Settings > Game Filters and Photo Mode > set to ON

wow makes a huge difference compared to rtx hdr! thank you.

r.HDR.UI.Luminance=300
r.HDR.Display.MidLuminance=14

Thanks @Gem
Gem  [auteur] 27 apr om 14:55
@hilmanator leave the brightness to default, HDR shouldn't be using the brightness values of SDR anyway.

Leave r.HDR.Display.MinLuminanceLog10 to default (-4)

The other question I have is, do I set up the in game brightness slider prior to taking these steps?
hilmanator 27 apr om 11:14
Should I use r.HDR.Display.MinLuminanceLog10? And where do I put it if I do? Engine or GameUserSettings?

@Aretaik iirc HDR and Stramlined do not like each other. That's extra render passes.

Spotted a typo - %USERPRIFLE% shoud be %USERPROFILE%

@SkebbZ and anyone looking. Check out the renodx discord. It says to downgrade to Framegen 3.8.1 and after doing so, the flickering dissapeared. idk if it matters even if you have fg enabled
capey216 24 apr om 16:14
@SkebbZ yeah, I tried the Renodx nightly and snapshot versions and had flickering on the sun and intro flames.
Aretaik 24 apr om 11:44
yeah, after applying ini tweak game gets very frequent stutters. I would advice against that option for the time being.
