Foreword
This guide was written on April 12th, 2025. At the time of writing, the game has 67 achievements. This is my first guide so please bear with me!

My friend and I completed the game as a duo, and we didn't gun for achievements from the get-go so we weren't the most efficient. It took us about ~30 hours to get 100%, I'm sure this can be trimmed down quite a bit, but I think this is a game meant for casual gaming/relaxing.

The achievements section are ordered in what I think I would do them in if I had to start from scratch :)

If you want tips for min/maxing, this guide won't be useful to you, unfortunately.
Quick Tips
A few quick tips to get you started on your playthrough:

  • Press T to find your tavern and your friends.
  • All achievements are shared across the players in your lobby, except for the counting ones. For example, if you kill 10 monsters and your mate is just farming, they will still get the achievement. But, if you kill 10 monsters and your mate is not in the lobby, they will not receive the achievement.
  • Hoard literally everything - spoiler: there will be an end-game recurring quest from a frog that will ask you to turn in a lot of recipes. In return, he gives you the biggest chest in the game.
  • Dying does not drop your items, it just costs you money. The amount is proportionate to your total gold.
  • Food does not spoil.
  • Always do the main storyline quest - completion will unlock things in the trader.

Early Game Tips
  • Keep your garden full - makes it easier to harvest when you're running low on supplies
  • You can use apples to quickly recover HP. You can then use the apple cores to make compost. In saying that, I did not find compost to be too useful as the crops grow really quickly.
  • You will need a lot of barley mid-game for animals and recipes.
  • Keep an eye on your order book - rotate the recipes that give 0 xp. This happens when your customers eat too much of the same food.

Mid Game Tips
  • As soon as you unlock the automatic dishwasher, get it! Same with owls - especially if you're a duo or solo.
  • Fish will be your go-to later. Put down as many fish and crab traps as you can at the lake.
  • You won't really need your axe once you unlock the sword. You can use the sword to break lootboxes.

Late Game Tips - Innkeeping, etc.
  • Keep an eye on your rooms and keep them open - the 100 inn guests takes a while.
  • Keep an eye on the board for orc cages - this one took us the most time to complete.
Choosing Which Recipes To Serve
In early/mid game, my suggestion would be to keep serving the food with most XP rather than money. You'll find money will come to you easily as you progress through the quests. Of course, make sure the ingredients can be easily obtained eg. I wouldn't always have recipes with mushrooms.

During our early/mid game, we sold quite a bit of barley cake and barley bread and the best drink we unlocked.

In late game, serve whatever you have ingredients for! We didn't care about XP as there was no point in levelling up the tavern past level 20 or so.

In the end, we ended up with 3 drinks, 3 foods and then we just tend to the garden or animals.
  • Assorted seafood, fried trout, fried potatoes
  • Carrot juice, bourbon, wine
Storyline Quests and Achievements
Always do these quests as soon as they unlock. I grabbed the outline from the game wiki[ale-and-tale-tavern.fandom.com], but popped in here for easy viewing. There is one achievement per quest (except Basics), but some have more tied to them. More below!

Scarecrow
Starts with the scarecrow in the back. You'll be buying a hoe, planting corn, growing corn and cooking corn.
  • Check the backyard
  • Clear the area
  • Find wild seeds
  • Healthy food
  • Boiled corn for the Scarecrow

Forest spirit
You're looking for a white, glowing deer in the forest. Easiest way is to find him during the night towards the back of the tavern. You'll be receiving a crossbow and bolts.
  • Check the dark forest
  • Kill the fel-poisoned bears - 3 bears will be near the deer. Kill them.
  • Clean the forest from evil - use the bolts here. Some nests have 2 branches, some have 3. If you run out of bolts, talk to the merchant.
  • Boar in Elvish for the spirit of the forest - Cook 1 boar (not bear!) steak.

Cow
Once complete, you'll have animals (pigs and chickens)! Make sure you have a torch with you.
  • Check around the tavern
  • Clear the area
  • Paddock
  • Destroy the hornets' nests
  • Sweet dish

Herbalist
Massive pain in the butt, this one. I suggest having all the dishes ready to save you the trouble from going back and forth - read ahead first. Unlocks potion making.

  • The local herbalist is terrorized by bears - you'll need to kill two bears outside.
  • Components for the herbalist (first quest) - Bring 5 apples, 5 eggs, 5 grapes.
  • Sell the potion and bring some food (first quest) - Bring barley porridge, ale mug.
  • Components for the herbalist (second quest) - Bring 3 emerald, 3 Azure, and 3 White mushrooms
  • Sell the potion and bring some food (second quest) - Bring boiled corn and beer mug
  • Components for the herbalist (third quest) - Bring 5 honey and 2 toad legs, grow given mandrake plant
  • Sell the potion and bring some food (third quest) - Bring boiled eggs and grape juice mug.

Coachman
Bring a broom and a sword. Cook and bring barley bread and a beer barrel.
  • Look for wheels in the bandit camp - they should be in a cap nearby. DO NOT KILL ALL ORCS IMMEDIATELY - there is a bug that stops you from grabbing the wheels if there are no orcs around.
  • Fix and clean the carriage
  • Find and bait 2 boars - should be some in the area. Just lure them to the front of the carriage and they'll snap into place.
  • Get the food for the coachman - give him barley bread and a beer barrel

Mermaid
You will soon unlock a fishing rod! The fishing mechanism in this game is easy enough to grasp I believe.
  • Poison resist potion
  • Get the Sacred stones - right next to a waterfall by the lake, there should be 3 stone pillars. TIP: Behind the waterfall is a secret recipe.
  • Trout soup for the Mermaid

Hermit
Unlocks at level 15. You unlock a watering can to put out fires. Why not a bucket? I have no idea. Read ahead for this one.

An extra achievement here:
  • HIDDEN ACHIEVEMENT: Is that you, Rapunzel? - Jump to someone in the tower. While at the hermit's house, drink a feather potion and jump on the roof. Look for a window at the tower - there will be a small ledge to jump to. You will see an orc in the window.
  • Smoke in the forest
  • Put out the fire
  • Do the house cleaning
  • Furnish the house with furniture
  • Replenish food supplies - Bring 20 potatoes, 10 raw pig pork and 10 chicken eggs.

Fairy
Unlocks at level 17. Bring a fair amount of food or health potions and multiple swords.
  • Find the fairy in the swamps
  • Perform the ritual - you'll be fighting off 3 waves. First is wolves, second is hornets, then third is hornets and spiders. The wave does not start until you retouch the altar, so take the time between waves to replenish your health and check your sword healths.

Royal Delivery
A frog in a hot air balloon will land near your tavern. He will ask you to bring him certain items - I believe these are random. Once complete, you will receive an Imperial Chest.

Final Battle
The final quest for the storyline. Bring lots of bullets, health potions, and maybe some resist physical potions. I recommend bringing a resurrection stone (it's a potion) for each player. I also brought apples for panic-eating just in case.

You will encounter two new mobs: hound and ghoul. You'll need their drops (hound claw and ghoul eye) for some achievements.

Two achievements here:
  • HIDDEN ACHIEVEMENT: Looks like I'm going to live forever - Big MaxHP potion + Physical damage resist potion. Drink both potions before starting the final fight. Only one person needs to do this for the achievement, but it might be a good idea for all players to have one.
  • Now it's not scary! - All torches in the cave were fired - Keep an eye on rock walls, wooden beams, and gates for torches. The torches inside the final boss arena do not count.

Apart from that:
  • Destroy the evil in the cave. The boss fight itself can be tricky - my friend and I kept running in circles around the arena and just kept shooting. When he is floating, keep shooting him to reduce the amount of health he recovers. There will be hounds and ghouls that will spawn and attack you - depending on your situation you can either kill them or just keep running around. They will die when the boss dies, so I just kept kiting.

That's it! Before you leave, make sure the torch achievement pops, and then there is a portal that teleports you straight to your tavern. Make sure to claim your big statue!

Once all quests are complete, the below will pop.
  • I need a vacation - All quests are complete.

This section has 14 achievements listed.

This section contains 27 achievements.
Early-Mid Game Achievements
You will have to go out of your way for these ones.

  • HIDDEN ACHIEVEMENT: The classic 33 misfortunes - Died 33 times. I highly recommend doing this first, as the cost of dying is proportionate to your total savings. So the lower the better.
  • It's much more comfortable this way - A decorative element is placed
  • I should not drink at work - Drink alcohol
  • Say no to alcohol! - A drunken customer was chased away (use a broom on drunk customers)
  • The wild boar population is under threat - Killed 25 boars
  • It was worth it - Ate an amanita
  • Invisible walls. Not surprising! - Reached the map border. Choose a direction and walk straight.
  • I let the music speak - Bought a jukebox
  • Yeah, I'm going, I'm going! - 100 bell rings. You may encounter a bug with the rings not counting. If so, restart the server or try in solo mode.

  • Guys, calm down, it's just me, and there are many of you! - 20 simultaneous customers. Put down as many tables as you can fit and don't shoo away drunkards.
  • The wait wasn't that long - Give the dish to the customer at the last moment (5 seconds)

Deliveries
I recommend having the dish already in your inventory before accepting the quest. You can safely 2 or 3 deliveries at a time.
  • Got a bunch of blisters - Deliver 10 orders
  • Wore my feet out - Deliver 25 orders

This section has 13 achievements.
Late Game Achievements
Only four left for late game - and they're more late game because it takes so long to get the quests for these in the quest board.

  • Peacemaker - Open 5 orc cages with hostages
  • The Good Samaritan - Rescue hostages from an orc cage
  • Hero! - Open 15 orc cages with hostages

Scarecrow Boss
  • Really scary Scarecrow - Kill the Scarecrow boss.

Customers staying in the inn can sometimes drop a voodoo doll - bring this doll to the windmill and place it as an offering. This will spawn a scarecrow monster that rushes at you with sickles. Similar to the final boss, I recommend bringing potions and bullets for this one.

Once defeated, it will drop its dual sickles. At time of writing, the dual sickles are pretty useless I think. They deal less damage than a charged sword, and does not allow you to harvest crops with them.

    This section contains 4 achievements.
Innkeeping Achievements
  • Top service! - All rooms are 3 stars. Ensure to provide clean sheets, and two dishes
  • Full house - All rooms occupied
  • Uninvited guest - Lure an enemy into a room. Wait until zombies spawn in your tavern, and lure them upstairs
  • Flophouse - 10 guests
  • Hostel - 50 guests
  • Hotel - 100 guests

This section has 6 achievements.

Final Thoughts
That's it! Overall, I think this game was relaxing and loved the music. I was pleasantly surprised when one of my customers started singing - I love the ambience it gave.

I hope you find this guide helpful! Perhaps leave a rating? 😊

Thanks for this, very helpful!
There is however, one potion missing from your potion list at the end. The Light Potion, which is Wolf Fang + Puffer Fish.
