Trackmania: Adding Custom Skins & Uploading Custom Images
By 2 spooky 4 u
In this guide I will show you step by step on how to upload pre-created skins and how to upload any image and add it to your car in Trackmania. This is NOT a guide on how to create your own skin, as there are already many guides on YouTube that go into extensive detail on creating a completely custom skin. I have linked the most in-depth video at the bottom for those of you inclined to dive down that rabbit hole.

Getting Started
Separate from the game files, there will be a folder on your drive where you've installed your OS. Typically, that's the C:\ Drive. Under your documents folder there should be a folder labeled "Trackmania2020", click on it.

Next we'll be creating a folder (may already exist for some), within the Trackmania folder we'll either click or create a folder labeled "Skins", then within that another folder labeled "Models", and finally one more folder labeled "CarSport". It's within "CarSport where we can drag and drop the skins to be used within Trackmania.

Lets Add a Custom Skin to TM
Okay, for this guide we'll be using a skin that's 100% free that I found online by Kizma. Wherever you go for your custom skins, you'll be presented with a .zip file. No need to un-zip anything, we're just going to copy that file and paste it into the "CarSport" folder. Once it's copied over, go ahead and Launch Trackmania.

Once the game is launched, head on over to the "Create" tab, which is the third option down. Then select "Garage". From here you will see four options at the top, select the "My Skins" tab. You'll see 4 options, select the third option "Upload Skin".

Click on it and bam, you're done. In the top right corner you can combine custom skins with Season, Ranked, or Royal Skins to add a little extra flair. I've added a Purple Royal skin to my custom creation, which can be viewed below.

Uploading Custom Images
This one's a little bit trickier. You'll 'need' something like Adobe Photoshop or Affinity Photo to modify image files so they can be used within Trackmania. You could instead use any of the free "resizer" websites to modify image size and change image files to the correct file type, but I can't recommend any. I've included a screenshot below highlighting the specifications for each image file. I recommend using the .png filetype.

These images can be used for your club and your car. Notice how each of my files are labeled exactly the same as what it shows in the first image. These .png files will all be thrown into the "Images" folder within the "Trackmania2020" folder. Should look something like this: "\Documents\Trackmania2020\Media\Images". As I already mentioned, if there's no folder, create them.

So let's add an image to a car in Trackmania. Click on "Create" on the home screen, then click on "Garage", and then click on "Create Skin". From here, we'll navigate to the bottom of the screen. I've attached a photo, we're going to select the icon that has a "17" and what looks to be a circle sticker. It's also been highlighted in green.

From here we'll see a whole bunch of stock "decals". To grab the ones we've added, click on the Right Arrow button until you see your added images. Then make some art, here's a quick example.

Okay, I'm Sorry... How Do I Find Skins Online?
There's a ton of websites that provide both free and paid skins, the top two I recommend are TMskins on gumroad and trackmania-skins.

Google either and you'll get what you're looking for.

For those looking for that in-depth custom Trackmania skin tutorial.... though you will need to own "Substance Painter" which is an entirely different application, completely separate to Trackmania.

Oh and if you're interested in seeing my Club page, which I've thrown custom images on, it's called "StreetMoe". Feel free to join.
