IMPORTANT NOTES
In addition to reading the guide completely before attempting any steps, please keep in mind the following factors:
  • I am using a DualSense PS5 controller connected via Bluetooth
  • I am connected to a PC running Windows 10
  • I used the latest version of DS4Windows (at time of writing) version 3.3.3 86 Bit and identified my controller as DualSense NOT DualShock. You get select this option after installing DS4Windows and the ViGEmBus Driver.
  • Big picture is disabled in Steam
  • Game was closed/not running as I applied the following settings in Steam and DS4Windows
DS4Windows Settings
- If you haven't already, be sure to download and install DS4Windows and the required bus driver. Select the control you're using (DualSense).
- Click the Profiles tab to manage Controls.
- Select the Other tab to the right and choose DualShock 4 from the dropdown for the Emulated Controller.

Steam Settings & Game Properties
  1. Click Steam and select Settings from the top menu in Steam client (desktop app). Click Controller (left sidebar)
  2. With DUALSENSE WIRELESS CONTROLLER selected at top, ensure that everything is disabled and enable PlayStation Controller Support to games w/o support. See image for reference.
  3. Open the game properties and disable the Steam Overlay while in game (General).
  4. Go to Controller override game to use default settings (Controller). See second image showing 2 screens.

General and Controller Settings
  • Disable overlay in General
  • Set controller to use User default setting
Still not working?
Additionally, before applying the above settings, I did attempt another method that failed. HOWEVER, one step that might influence your success is modifying the config.vdf to remove controller settings. Again, I am unsure if this actually made a difference, but in case it did...

1. First, exit Steam and unplug or disconnect controller.
2. Navigate to Program Files (x86) > Steam > config or wherever you store your local Steam data
3. Open config.vdf in Notepad. If you don't see it, search the Steam folder
4. Search within Notepad for "SDL_GamepadBind" and delete the text AFTER "SDL_GamepadBind" (Do not delete "SDL_GamepadBind") through to the next {, keeping the {. Depending on your Steam settings, additional items like "ClientID" "Music" "LocalLibrary" etc. might follow. To reiterate, that's the text between "SDL_GamepadBind" and the next {.

*TIP* Use Word Wrap format to view config.vdf to better see the text following "SDL_GamepadBind"
