Live from Starcom's Finest ship "Torment" I present to you The best tips and tricks I can make for you at 3:00 am in the morning.
Load times are hella short, If in doubt make a new save.
-Make the save Before talking to or being Hailed by the new aliens.
- THE ABSOLUTE BEST Tip Change you map Keybind to your Left Tab Key. I Can not stress HOW MUCH BETTER this is.
--- The I(not L) key will renistate your previously plotted course If you use it well it can save you a Ton of time.
----Your ships auto pilot is a full on derp machine. If you are flying anywhere in system with other ships or over stars it will try to learn how to dance in place. Be wary of this and be prepared to personally pilot through shared space. But this is what we get for usng Rabid squirrels as Autopilots.

Ship Building Guidelines.
-Keep your ships speed above 20 minimum, above 25 preferably. Some times you might have to run. And some enemy ships will chase you a long long ways. But Faster Is Better, and I would always put as many thrusters on as I can.
-When building there is a Hidden(at the start) Heat mechanic. Which is a major funkiller. Research the Heat overlay pretty early on so you can make sure all of your pew pew is not getting literally halved on its capabilities. I noticed sometimes My ship sucked dmg wise because of this.
-Having Generators is way better than Batteries. Buying Chr early for Generators will make your gameplay better.
----You can check your Energy draw cost in ship design. If you can I suggest to always make sure energy generated is better than peak draw. But a few batteries for burst combat in the first part of the game is 100% acceptable.
-If you go to your ship settings (Press Z-->Go to page with your ships readout) You can select Fire modes for weapons. I would Like to point out The Auto Aim with a few plasma is a great Flak Setup.
---Subsection I went Lotsa Lasers, Missiles, Plasma(for Flak). Lasers will chew through ANYTHING when fully upgraded. But Plasma Fully range upgraded will make it hard to use as flak as they will auto target at longer range than the lasers. So if you plan on using Lasers as your primary weapon, and Plasma as Flak Cannons Do not get the Last plasma Weapons Range upgrade.(Both are good for flak depending up upgrades and how you play)

-Missiles are very nice, Take no heat or energy, Give insane range. You might have to clean up with lasers/your primary weapon, but it is still a very nice weapon to be able to add.
---Swarm missiles shoot 3 Missiles per Missile rack and it is imo worthwhile the upgrade.
---The last Missile tech DOES cost a constant amount of resources to fire each missile. I Never bought them, but others have reported good things.
-At 5 Shield Generators you can take One Heck of a beating, and will be able to kill up to medium ships with just ramming. For if you want to save space for extra speed for exploring.
-Do not be afraid to make a dumb looking ship. I made a laser battery bank on the back, and put my thrusters on hanging arms in the front. I could outrun and outrange anything I needed to until I got shields. Try to keep your thrusters separated by a bit, All thrusters blown off would make you a sitting and easy target. I used this on a few enemies to good effect, and good ship design makes it hard to do this to you.

----You will get enough EXP to upgrade at most 3-3.5 Weapon systems all the way, with ONE research reset. All of them are viable apparently. Choose what you prefer.

CREW!
--When Upgrading Crew, The bio(Green) Skill is your dump stat, I ended with only a level 9 in it and was EASILY able to do everything with that. Every other crew had a skill that was 15-16~ I suggest Specializing the crew in stats. A really Good Tactics officer gives a better chance at success then a bunch of mediocre Tactics officers. But you can do what you want. You also get 1 Free reset on these. In order to not have you waste it, There is a makeshift research lab where it asks you to put the Black Memory/Perception/Forgetful sphere on a pedestal. If you do it will reset your Crew stats and you will have to reassign them. As I leveled mine up perfectly I simply facepalmed and reloaded.

Exploration!--- PT1(Some things in the spoiler section)
Speed is Amazing for this. Max Speed and get some shields and you can ignore most enemies. Shields are last 1/3 of the game though. Some times you will need to take a chance on exploration into dark space but it is usually Really Short, so if you do not see anything within 2 minutes and you were not told to go there, I would turn back.

When meeting new Aliens, Almost all of them can be turned atleast Neutral based on what you say.

** Purely Optional** A small thing I would suggest After about the first ten hours of game play, or whenever you get tired of looking for new stars. Change your Detection settings in the Technologies.json

For me it was in D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Starcom Unknown Space\Starcom Unknown Space_Data\StreamingAssets\Content\Kepler\Stories\DEFAULT
Change the "modifier1": 1, or watever it was to something else I copied some one else on the steam forums and put in "modifier1": 9910.0, I would go with EVEN MORE SO MUCH MORE SENSOR! But I was too lazy to go back and cheat harder. Still it was way more than enough to breeze it.
--Yes this is cheating, but as I wanted to be a completionist This cut down my exploration time by a factor of 10. Honestly after you find the Nimians(Feline folk... Not the right kind of catgirls :( I think the exploration has played its part and you only gain from doing this.
--You can also softlock yourself research wise, though it would be hard to do. If you do run into this issue, and have used the Research reset already, you can easily edit yourself some more. I did not do this so I do not have the specifics. I would keep at least 200 Research on standby at any given time just for safe measures. Or cheat. I think that would be more fun in this game tbh. I never even once tried the stationary guns because of the research requirements :(
--I recommend downloading and using Notepad++ to edit things like this. It was practically designed for this type of programming. Probably idk who designed it or why but it feels right.

Trading--- Do not be afraid to trade your Aluminum, silver, and copper You might need to hold onto some titanium but it is easily farmed. I NEVER used batteries after the first third of the game and that is all copper is good for. (unless it was used for the other weapons systems but meh my laser ship was absolutely killer.)
-The only resource that was hard to get was gold, so maybe be a bit tight on that. Though I think I spent around 400 and Still had plenty enough for 5 Tier Three Thrusters(After buying up every gold bar from everysingle trading partner that I could). Still less thrusters than I wanted but by all means enough.

--Missions. Suggestions for a better time.(But by all means do as you want in this game)
-When you Analyze a Certain Ice Cube, save often, and Try to avoid fights unless you have shields, No the game is not glitching. But that Ice has DANGEROUS SECRETS. Still I would analyze it immediately.
-At the start Instead of killing the Umyk gaurding the planet Bribe them.
-Instead of paying the guild Representative to for anything to do with the Sephariel Seek Alternative Methods. Even if you have to search online. Unless you are just flush with Guild cash.
-(Minor Spoiler but not really)The Talonian Task Occurs AFTER you speak with the Talonian. As long as you have not talked with him You Can Not Start The Mission Or End the game, and he is part of the main quest. So do not spend 4-5 hours trying to figure out how to start his stupid quest because you read an achievement guide ahead of time and everybody is stupidly vague about this. Just do the main quest and He will show up and you can start it pretty obviously. No I am not ~slightly~ bitter about my experience with this.
Spoilers!
Not much to put here other than my map.
Note that the Map generation is "Semi RNG" Everything should follow a pretty solid spawn system, but a few things are completely random. Void pirate Locations for example are random. Same with the Freighter spawns, as well as a few other things.

Anything Marked with a red dot is part of a fairly cruel Developers joke, that is pretty obvious when you scan for anomalies.

Yes there is another Map on here, But I like mine so here it is.
