    When you get to the crossroad where you can pet a dog, go left instead of straight ahead and you will find it on a bulletin board.

    Near the end of the snowy town road, on the right side is the Blacksmith shop. Pick up the ‘Free Parts’ from the little bench where the Blacksmiths are working.

    At the very end of the wooden sidewalk on the right side is a text document on a crate next to a red ladder.


  • Trading Card 2/48 : The Keene Twins
    After talking to Maria, venture further into the Tipsy Bison Bar. There’s a trading card on the barrel to the left of the dart board.

  • Artifact 2/127 : Note From a Father
    As soon as you exit from crawling under the ruined home, immediately turn the corner around the house and go through the far window. A note will be on the table by the window.
Patrol
  • Journal Entry 1/20 : Trees
    Upon reaching the radio tower, follow Dina until you both look out at the majestic view in front of you. When she goes to leave, exit the cinematic view but then turn and look for a spot on the balcony to interact to add a journal entry.

    After climbing up a rope, in the room on the right side on top of the blue cabinet and in the bottom drawer.

    When Ellie and Dina ride their horses for the second time Dina will point out some houses to check out. Dismount your horse and go inside the RV in the middle of the area to find some supplements on the bed.

    Look for the blown out building on the left, and climb up on the right side to jump into a second floor bedroom. Search the drawers near the bed to find a note from a child.

    In a house further on the right. Climb onto the first floor via the pickup truck that’s parked outside. Dina will follow and find/hand you the Tesseracter trading card if you don't get it first from its place in the closet.

    When entering the 'Greenplace Market', kill the first zombie in there. Do NOT go through the door on the left yet. Instead, go to the small side room on the right. Its door is blocked but you can climb out the window to circle around it. It has supplements in the sink.

    Now take the door leading to the left. In there Ellie throws a bottle at a runner (mini-cutscene). This room contains parts on the right side.

    The back of the children’s library will have a bed with a nightstand on the left of it. Open the nightstand drawer to get a note.

    After powering the generator you’ll be able to use the workbench located directly across from it. You can't miss it, as Dina practically shoves you into trying it out.

    Once you enter Joel's house, head into the kitchen on the first floor and look near the sink for a large mug with an owl design to sketch it after inspecting it.

    Head upstairs and enter the first room, Joel's workshop. Look near the window for a long workbench with his guitar on it, and Ellie will add it to her journal.

    Now go to the bedroom and interact with the red shoe box on Joel’s bed to get his watch.

The Gate
  • Trading Card 5/48 : Motivator
    Soon after the chapter starts, Dina and Ellie will come across a few cars in a clearing with an overgrown bus stop. Get off your horse and inspect the side of the bus stop to find a panel where the trading card is stashed.


  • Achievement : Starter Set
    This is the fifth card and with that comes an achievement.


  • Trading Card 6/48 : The Starfire Kids
    While riding down the overgrown freeway. Enter the construction trailer on the left side to find a trading card on a corkboard in the first room.


  • Artifact 10/127 : Map of Seattle
    In the same trailer, look in the second room for a desk drawer by a broken window to find a map of Seattle inside the drawer. (This artifact in necessary to progress the story!)


  • Journal Entry 5/20 : WLF Gate
    When Dina and Ellie finally reach the large sealed gate into Seattle, inspect the giant message written by the WLF at the front gate to jot it down in Ellie’s journal.


  • Artifact 11/127 : Refugee Note
    Enter the nearest FEDRA trailer to find a note from a refugee left on one of the desks.


  • Artifact 12/127 : Infected infographic
    Locate the second FEDRA trailer, near the back wall, and enter inside to find a note with photos of various stages of infection on a table.

  • Trading Card 7/48 : Chessmaster
    After climbing over the broken wall, move along the catwalk but don’t go down the ladder at the far end. Instead, look up above when entering the tower to find a ladder leading up into a watchtower. Here you’ll find the trading card on a desk.

    Look further to the right for a note left on a green crate.


  • Artifact 14/127 : Checkpoint Gate Codes
    After dropping down on the other side, enter the nearest military trailer by breaking the glass, and then look into the drawers on the desk where you entered to find a series of codes with a note on the back. (This artifact in necessary to progress the story!)


  • Trading Card 8/48 : Oozer
    After going through the trailer you will find a cord. It can be used for more than just delivering power. Throw it over the roof of the trailer so that it drapes down on the opposite side, and use it to rappel up to the roof. Up here you’ll find a trading card under some scrap.

  • Artifact 16/127 : FEDRA Census Document
    After spotting 'Serevena Hotel' you will automatically dismount the horse. On the left is a small guard post, in its drawer is the document.


  • Artifact 17/127 : Cache Hunter Note
    Located across the river from where you first enter the large downtown field, look for a small isolated ruined building floor just outside the Westlake Bank building off to the left, and you’ll find a skeleton with a bag that holds a note regarding the nearby bank.
    (This artifact can be found next to other corpses in this area if you find them first)


  • Artifact 18/127 : Bank Heist Plans
    Rightmost building between James ST & Cherry ST, 'Westlake Bank'. Enter the building and after defeating the Infected and Clickers inside, check the far left room for a note inside a satchel. It reveals the vault code.


  • Safe 2/14 : Bank Vault (60-23-06)
    Open the bank vault, next to the last artifact.


  • Weapon 3/12 : Shotgun
    Inside the bank vault.


  • Artifact 19/127 : Bank Robber Letter
    Inside the bank vault, on a table.


  • Artifact 20/127 : Antique Ring
    Inside the bank vault, in a drawer in the right-side corner.

    This artifact comes with an achievement.


  • Artifact 21/127 : Letter from Isaac
    One block to the left from the last location (the middle block between Cherry ST & Colombia ST). A military tank is parked there, left of it is a corpse with a collectable document.


  • Training Manual 1/8 : Crafting skills
    Head north to the broken highway bridge between 6th Ave & 7th Ave. There’s a fire truck on the bridge. Climb the parked military truck next to the bridge, from its roof you can jump to the firetruck. Pick up the fire hose and throw it down the bridge to a highway segment with a rolled over truck. Climb down the hose and swing off it to the rolled over truck, in it is the first training manual in the game. (Already in your possession if you have pre-purchased the game.)

    If you followed this guide, the courthouse should be the last location to visit. Entering it should unlock this achievement.

    Directly left from the last artifact, smash in the window to the side office. Take the machete from the police corpse to make it drop an artifact.

    In the back of this decrepit building, you can find a room with a workbench.

    Carefully cross the street full of tripwires and enter the thrift store and walk forward a bit. On your left you’ll see bookshelves. On the children’s bookshelf, you’ll find another trading card.

    Go through the door ahead. You’ll be in a room of vending machines. Turn to the right and you’ll see an artifact pinned to the corkboard.

    After climbing up the first ladder in this chapter, check the back of the truck on the left.

    Going right from the open truck, you’ll find one WLF soldier strung up and another on the ground. Loot the body on the ground to fight his note.

    Later on the main path. When you see a waterfall, look for a car by a tree above the falls, to the left of the path. Check the car’s left side for an open door, and below is a coin on a book.

    When you enter the first Seraphite camp, it will be devoid of people. Look for the large hut in the center and move inside. Here you’ll find some long tables in the middle where a note has been left.

    In the first enemy encounter of this chapter, these are found in the 2nd hut on the left on the ground floor.

    You can find a coin on the top floor. Climb up via the logs outside or the ladder behind the building. The coin sits on a box by the “window”.

    In the hut on the opposite side, it has a note on the bed.

    You start this section on a boat. Immediately turn left and pick up the note on the counter.


  • Artifact 124/127 : Mansion Note
    When you climb over a fence to an area with houses, look for a U-Haul outside a garage, and enter the open garage, where you can find a note.

  • Trading Card 47/48 : CBB-73
    In the mansion at the top of the hill, on the second floor. Search for the bedroom, and approach the white desk. Pick up the trading card to add to your collection.

    After defeating all infected in the lower part of the mansion, check the island table in the kitchen and pick up the note.

  • Journal Entry 19/20 : 2425 Constance
    When you’re outside, after crawling through the hole as you leave the mansion, there will be a police car parked in front of you. Stand left of the police car and the button prompt will come up, press it and Ellie will look at houses in the distance and make a Journal Entry automatically.

    Check for a parked truck to the left before going downhill, it has parts in the back.

    As you head downhill there’s a truck that rolled over. Check the back of this truck for supplements.
The Resort
  • Weapon 12/12 : Silenced Submachine Gun
    Automatically in your inventory at the start of this chapter, cannot be missed.


  • Achievement : High Caliber
    This should be your last weapon and unlocks the achievement.


  • Journal Entry 20/20 : Rattler Van
    After passing the train ticket station, there are more Rattlers patrolling outside the cafe. Once they’re all dead, approach the van with the Rattler graffiti. Interact with it to add it to your journal.

    Check the store to the left of the above-mentioned van, it has parts on the counter.


  • Artifact 126/127 : Santa Barbara Slave Note
    After seeing a prisoner escort in the distance, stick to the left side of the area with the trains to find a blood trail to a corpse and Artifact at the end.

    During the next enemy encounter, on the white container to the left.

    Some parts are on the balcony of the building.

    There’s a part at the circular saw in the middle of the shack in the middle of the area

    This is the final workbench and unlocks the achievement.


  • Trading Card 48/48 : Sparkthug
    Near the workbench. Go through a door in the building to the left of where you entered from the fence. To the right of the doorway is a small table where you can find the final trading card.


  • Achievement : Master Set
    This is the last Trading Card game. If you found all of them you’ll now earn the achievement.


  • Artifact 127/127 : Rattler’s Letter Home
    In the next enemy section. On the normal story path you’ll have to go up a circular staircase inside a villa. Immediately after this, take a right turn to find the last note on a nightstand near a bed.


  • Achievement : Archivist
    You should now earn the achievement for having found all Journal Entries and Artifacts.

    After finishing the epilogue you get this achievement.


  • Achievement : Dig Two Graves
    If you played the game on grounded difficulty, you will also get this achievement.

    If you played the game with any permadeath setting, you will also get this achievement.


New Game +
To get the remaining main story related achievements you will need to play a new game +.
One playthrough does not give you enough resources to get all upgrades, so it needs to be done in ng+.

  • Achievement : Arms Master
    Fully upgrade all weapons.


  • Achievement : Survival Expert
    Learn all upgrades


  • Achievement : Every Last One of Them
    If you have all storyline achievements

Keep in mind that once you have all player upgrades for a character, that character will no longer find any supplements.
And the same for weapon upgrades. Once a character's weapons are fully upgraded, no more parts.

Update: after finding Training Manual 4/8: Explosives on the previous spot, there was no manual at all on the bed in The Seraphites chapter. Also there are no supplements in the safe in the same apartment on Grounded.

Training Manual 3/8: Precision - you can pick it up on Day 1 in The Theatre, on the table to the left from the Beyond trading card location. Looks like you missed it.

Could it be that the game places some parts or ammo dynamically based on what you need?

I can't speak about differences across platforms.
Difficulty should only affect ammo and crafting supplies, That is why these are not mentioned in guides.
All my screenshots are from the steam version so the parts thould be there.
