How to make unlimited money
Have you got your eye on an expensive diagram, or farm schematic or the next tool kit upgrade and wondered, damn how am I ever going to afford that? Well, in this guide I have you covered!

There are two separate game mechanics that provide a benefit when selling items.
  • The Criminal profession increases the money you earn from sales by 5%.

  • The Artisan trade skill increases the money you earn from sale prices by 5%.

The good thing is these benefits stack, so you can get an additional 10% for the items you sell. On the surface you may be thinking great 10% more for my items, so what?

It’s 10% of the value of that item, so the more expensive the item, the more money you’ll make.

For example, an Iron Tool Kit normally sells for 750g.

  • With either the Criminal profession or Artisan trade skill active, selling an Iron Tool Kit will earn you 787g (750g plus an additional 37g, or 5% of the item's value)

  • With both the Criminal profession and Artisan trade skill active, selling an Iron Tool Kit will earn you 825g (750g plus and additional 75g, or 10% of the item's value).

You can buy and sell the same item repeatedly with a vendor. Each sale will give you additional money depending on the % being applied. It will also slowly drain the vendor’s money for that day.

  • With a 5% bonus applied, you can repeatedly sell and buy an Iron Tool Kit with a vendor 27 times before their 1000g is yours. The vendor will be left with 1g and it takes about 20 seconds to complete.

  • With a 10% bonus applied, you can repeatedly sell and buy an Iron Tool Kit with a vendor 13 times before their 1000g is yours. The vendor will be left with 25g and it takes about 10 seconds to complete.

Once you have the vendor’s money, go back to the blacksmith and buy another Iron Tool Kit, or buy and sell the most expensive item in the vendor's inventory. Rinse and repeat. You’ll own all the town’s gold in a few minutes. If you need a huge wad of cash in one go – say for a new mount, upgrade tool kit or farm equipment - use this approach in multiple towns. There is another blacksmith in the Crossroads who also sells Iron Tool Kits. The great thing is the vendor’s money resets every day.

This technique pairs nicely with pig farming. The smokehouse is the only farm upgrade that doesn't require wood (it requires hardwood), so build it when you can for passive income from truffles and meat.
How to obtain the Artisan skill card on day one
It's very easy to obtain the Artisan skill card on day one of a new play through, or any time on an older save file.
  • Complete the prologue.
  • When you wake up, run into town and complete the quest, The Road to Brightoak. This quest will reward you with the Copper Axe.
  • Return to the farm and chop 276 wood, which is about 98% of all trees on the farm.
  • Go to your workbench and make 69 wooden fences. Make the wooden fences one at a time, don't mass produce them as it won't work. (spam 'F', don't use 'D').
  • Congrats, you've just unlocked Trade rank 6 and the Artisan card.
You need to equip the skill card to receive the 5% benefit when selling your goods.
