Dream BBQ Chapter 1 Walkthrough

Messy WIP, but 100% functional.

INTRO

(This guide is still WIP because this game came out six hours ago)



-Walk around until you see lanterns
-You will find a bed (referred to as a door). Interact with it to get warped to the next area
-Walk forward and up the stairs, until a cutscene plays
-Go back down the stairs and take a right.
In the hallway with many shutters, knock on the same one a few times for an achievement.
-Talk to the receptionist (polygon-lady at the desk)
If you stare at the blood vivarium in the room behind the receptionist for long enough, you will get the "Do not tap on the glass" Achievement.
-Go back to the area with froggy and co., enter the door on the left

ROUTE 1: JOBS

the plaza to get quests (jobs), the important ones for now are finding the horse-guys pets, and the witches looking for their sister.
-There are four pets in total, and are at the end of red blood trails. (will add pics soon)
--One is near where you talk to the NPC that gives the quest, behind a rock.

--One is in a "cave" (the entrance is on the back wall of one of the buildings, crouch to get in) (From the entrance of the cave: RIGHT, LEFT, STRAIGHT)

--One is on the boat

--One is on top of a sculpture (the one with the NPC that stares at BridgeGuy)

-Once you have all four pets, go back to the NPC that gave the job, he will give you some cash
-On the road, there is a "vending machine". Talk to him and he will sell you one thing, and one thing only. Buy the Mayo.
-Try crossing the bridge if you haven't already to get another job from the BridgeGuy.
-Interact with the NPC he directs you to with Mayo in your inventory, and go back to BridgeGuy and watch the cutscene.
-Walk to the end of the path across the bridge and talk to the missing witch sister
-Backtrack a little bit and interact with the crane. This is a sliding puzzle, don't move off the edge of the screen and find a way to get the crane back to the sisters.
SOLUTION: down, right, down, left, down, right, up, left, down, right
I believe the requirement to get the achievement "Crone Operator" is to either do it first try, or do it in the lowest number of moves.
-The sisters will give you a microchip
-Go inside the seal-house and give it to the wizard, and he will give you an item (Completing this quest prevents you from interacting with the taxi anymore, locking you out of the purge event and the taxi maze.)
-Use this item on the holes around the map (the ones where interacting with them says "you could fit a body in here"), and you can climb up to the next area. The hole you need to interact with is the one immediately across the bridge.
-Use your Humanboard and take any path, you will get to a slowly-spinning circular platform with three exits. Take the path that does NOT require you to plant the Humanboard (leading to a spiral-tower platform
-Parkour against the wind and plant the humanboard one last time to enter a new area.
-Interact with the... Lizard-head-thing and let it eat you. Froggy will call you again and you will be teleported to the next area, where the routes converge.

ROUTE 2: PURGE EVENT

-Instead of taking any jobs, go to the underground area (the entrance is the back side of one of the buildings. If you did the JOBS route, it's where one of the pets were.)

-Drop down into one of the holes that has a platform, and do some parkour. You will get the taxi drivers heads. (from the entrance: RIGHT, STRAIGHT, RIGHT)
-Exit the underground area, and talk to the taxi driver
-Get in the taxi
-Immediately head right, a building will fall from the sky and block your path. When you turn back, there will be debris on the taxi. Climb on it to proceed
-Continue down the path until you enter a new area, which looks like a ticket-booth area.
-Talk to the booth on the right and agree to give your arm.
-Explore the rave until you meet an NPC that plays a cutscene, AFAIK two can do this: a ninja-looking guy, and a girl who needs to use four-letter words. After talking with them, pink liquid will fill the room and warp you to another area.
-TURN UP YOUR VOLUME, this segment is a puzzle similar to the lost woods sections in ocarina of time: whichever path you hear whistling is the one you need to follow. Eventually, a dog will eat you and take you to the next segment. An alternative solution that doesn't rely on volume is to look at the eyes above each entrance: The eye above the correct path will pulse faster than all the other eyes. (I noticed this method didn't work only on the first room, but this bug solved itself quickly)

CONVERGENCE

-Both paths will lead you to this black-void area.
-If you have the item from the jobs route, use it to cross the river. Otherwise, you will have to do parkour
IMPORTANT! IF YOU ARE GOING TO JUMP ACROSS THE RIVER USING THE BAMBOO RAFTS, YOU ONLY HAVE ONE SHOT!!! (Doing this is required for the "Sick Tricks" Achievement

-If you fall down the river, you have to solve another puzzle where the little spirits point in different directions to enter the correct house. It's the one on the very left, the fifth house in that column.
For the achievement "Razing the Roofs", interact with every door except for this one.
For the Achievement "Patient listener", go on the left side and walk through the fourth last door (it has no collision), and talk to Nonkey Jong. It takes a while.
-This will lead you to the corpse of the Genie, who transports you to the room with the smoke machine.

-If you made it across the river, continue until you meet the Genie. You have five options, but the only one that will progress the story is "Aspire to get rid of the smoke". Once you pick this, you will be teleported to the smoke machine room.

-Break the smoke machine
-You will be warped and get a call from froggy. Continue down the path and you will be back in the door's main desert area, but now it looks like auction day
-Go to the house you entered the area from at the very start of the game. You know you will be going the right way, because rain-rocks will start covering your screen
-Interact with the door
-Backtrack like, ten steps

SIDE QUEST: TAXI MAZE

This side quest gives two achievements: "On a night like this", and "Advanced consumer society".
Before you find the taxi driver's head, interact with the taxi. This will take you to a new area - interact with the NPC facing away from you for "On a night like this".

Once you've done that, enter an alleyway (NOT the red door!) to go to a maze. The maze consists of 3 floors that loop. Here are quick directions to get right to the end:
Floor one: take two lefts and enter the hole
Floor 2: From your spawn, walk to the wall that's further away from you, take a right, then a left
Floor 3: Do not enter any holes or trash cans, it's linear enough and you will find a room with different textures - drop down into the hole here to go to a secret area and get the "Advanced consumer society" achievement. For a more detailed map, see Rather Be Napping's Guide

the genie wont grant you any other wish, the dialogue repeats and you have to pick again

How do you even get the other four options for the Genie?

For the Purge event route you can just go up the sleeve of the taxi driver's left arm and it will take you right to the heads in the maze.

you can choose not to revive that little rat during tour first interaction. I disliked him on my second playthrough so i waited to see if i could just not revive him. It takes like 20 min as far as I know but idk. i went to the liquor store and when i came back i could pass unbothered. W

What's weird is in the uncanny valley section of the purge event, there is a spot to use the human board

I wasn't even aware of the purge event route on my first playthrough, I'm gonna have to give that a try now.
