Note: Disabling Steam Cloud Saves
If you're trying to copy save files; it may all be for naught if the Steam Cloud auto-backup undoes your work; I recommend disabling the steam cloud before moving save files. You can always turn it back on afterwards.

To do this, right click on the game in your library and select "Properties..."

Then, in the general tab, deactive the option under the "Steam Cloud" section.

And of course: back-up any of your own save files before you copy over them.
Save File Location
Unlike some other games on Steam, the save files are easy to find for the Suikoden remaster. Simply go to your library, right click on the game, and select Manage then Browse Local Files

In Windows, a Windows Explorer window should appear with the game's install folder; open the "Save" subfolder.

The "Save" subfolder should have a folder with a Steam ID number (or more than one, if mulitple Steam accounts are using the game). Select the one with your Steam ID number.

(You can find your Steam ID number by going to the Settings under the "Steam" tab in the very top left of Steam - it's listed as your Friend Code in the Account tab that opens)

In that folder, there are 3 folders:
  • "gsd1", which contains Suikoden I files
  • "gsd2", which contains Suikoden II files
  • "share", which contains the "clear" files that unlock the Gallery on the main title screen.

So for this guide, we'll be copying files into the "gsd1" and "gsd2" folders.

Save Files
My save files from playing the game can be found in this link.[drive.google.com]

The following sections describe the individual save files. Note that I uploaded these in case they help, but I recommend playing through the game to get achievements; it's a great remaster of two classic games. That being said, do what you will with these files.

1 - Suikoden I Saves*
  • No. 1 - "The Gate Rune War", "The Stars of Destiny Assembled" and "The Ultimate Tenkai Star" achievements** - go right then up, fight final boss
  • No. 2 - "Leaving Home" achievement - walk south, then keep talking to Victor, then leave town to the south
  • No. 3 - "Night in Sarady" achievement - Go to the clock in the north-east, then downstairs, then to the bottom, talk to Odessa
  • No. 4 - "Zombie Dragon Slayer" and "The Castle on Lake Toran" achievements - proceed through dungeon, fight boss, watch scenes
  • No. 5 - "Debut Deployment" achievement - go NW to Kobold Village, fight first battle
  • No. 6 - "Duel" achievement, go to Kwanda Yakuta castle, fight first duel (can get this in Suikoden II as well or in Save No. 8)
  • No. 7 - "All That We've Lost" achievement - complete Soniere prison dungeon
  • No. 8 - "My Son" Achievement - go to 4th floor war room, talk to Mathieu, start battle
  • No. 9 - "Showdown with Neclord" Achievement - climb Neclord's castle, fight Neclord
  • No. 10 - not an achievement, just a good story point in Seek Valley (walk north)
  • No. 11 - "A Day for Alliances" achievement - walk upstairs, talk to Joshua
  • No. 12 - not an achievement - proceed to war room to complete battle of Shasarazade
  • No. 13 - "Showdown in Shasarazade" achievement - complete Shasarazade dungeon
  • No. 14 - 108 stars scene (go to 4th floor to talk to Mathieu) (Not an achievement)
  • No. 15 - "A Painter for the Ages" achievement (go to 3rd floor and talk to Ivanov in the southwest corner)
  • No. 16 - End game save, at headquarters (not an achievement)

*I forgot to make a save for the first achievement, "First Mission" - just play the first 30 minutes of a new game to get it.

**You can skip the final boss battle and just watch the ending to get the achievements by loading the autosave instead (slot 0)

These files go to the "gsd2" folder.

Notes on the Save Files
During any of these saves, fighting a battle will get you "Your First Victory" and using a Unite attack will get you "First Unite Attack". These didn't need their own save files.

Most of these are immediately after the save or a few fights, where your party will be more than enough to beat whatever boss you need to fight (in some of them, I went back and edited the party to make it easier).
Apologies
The two achievements that will remain difficult are 'Whack-a-Mole Master" and "Lord of the Dance" as you will have to beat these tough mini-games - loading a save where I've already done it doesn't work, unfortunately.

For "Whack-a-Mole" master, it came with a lot of practice to beat hard mode, but I figure if you used a tool to slow your CPU speed, you could probably make it easy.

For "Lord of the Dance", I'm not sure slowing the game down will help - you need to get the rhythm right! What I did was write down every step as Karen showed her dance, and then, looking at my notes and not the screen, inputted the steps to the rhythms of the clapping. That, plus about 30 tries and some choice words, got me the achievement.

Afterword
Hopefully this helps you in either backing up your save files, going to a favourite story moment or getting that one last nagging achievement! All files should unlock achievements as I've noted, I tested them on another Steam account in my family (and someday my kids will notice and wonder how they 100%ed this game in a couple of hours!).

Let me know if you need further explanation or have any thoughts in the comments.

Thanks for the save files, I messed up the Clive quest at Rockaxe with no way to reload previous saves. Such a stupidly designed quest. You saved my ass :)

@SkyE911: Sorry, but I can't get those saves in easy mode. I played both games on hard mode to get those achievements and wasn't planning on playing the game again any time soon; in fact I've already uninstalled it.

@Inspector Gesicht Ironically, it's only a spoiler if you point out that it's a spoiler, as it looks like concept art until you tie it to the ending. But now that it's spoiled... I've changed the picture, thanks!

Any chance you can make some of these saves on easy mode?

I don't know the keyboard controls but the steps change every time for levels 4 and 5 of Karen's dancing so you'll just need to learn which button maps to which step, and then you can write down the steps, and then input them to the beats of the clap. It's going to be frustrating. Sorry I don't have anything better to help with on that!
