Mario Kart 64 - Bowser's Castle (REUPLOAD)

This is addon not mine. I am just uploading this to the Steam Workshop for preservation, as this was originally available for use in Garry's Mod for a short while, but was removed following the DMCA takedown fiasco in 2024. Also, I would like for anyone who plays GMod to enjoy using this addon. All credit goes to the original creator, Terg500, but if they are on here and see this and they would like me to remove this, I will respectfully comply.

However, if this gets removed through another false flagging, I'll just reupload it again. The 2024 DMCA purge may have affected me and lots of other GMod creators, but we are not alone, and we are not giving up. I refuse to be silenced like the others who have been as they try to express their feelings and concerns about it. And I will not let this community down. I stand with other creators who want to do something about this, and I want to contribute to the revival efforts. Alright, enough of my rambling.

A faithful re-creation of Mario Kart 64's race track "Bowser's Castle" for you to race on in Garry's Mod.

The map features the following:
- Sounds, textures and models from the original game
- Fire effects and thwomps are all timed the same as they were in the original
- A race control tower that is not only the spawn area but lets people that don't want to race control various options of the race, including:
>> Starting the race
>> Playing the 2nd and final lap sounds
>> Control the volume of the background music (full, half, off)
>> End the race
>> A monitor that can be switched to different cameras to oversee the entire track in order
- An animated Lakitu who does the race countdown
- A new pit stop that slowly heals any player driving through it in case you took damage on a lap

I recommend SligWolf`s GoKart to race on this track as it handles the tight corners and ramps pretty well. Just make sure to practice the jump after the round tower a bit as it can crash when jumping over it with maximum speed due to it's colossal weight.

Making its first appearance as a race course in the Star Cup in Mario Kart 64 (1996) and reappearing as a Classic Course in the Lightning Cup in Mario Kart Wii (2008), the home track of everyone's favorite Koopa king, Bowser's Castle, now comes to life for the 2004 sandbox game, Garry's Mod, as a full interactive map, allowing players to use it for a variety of activities in singleplayer and mulitplayer, particularly, Go-Kart racing.

This map includes the following features (based off of the original description):
- Music and sound effects coming directly from Mario Kart 64
- Fire effects and functioning Thwomps like from the original game
- Race control tower that allows players to spawn in and control race functions (i.e. starting the race, starting 2nd and final laps, ending the race, and modifying sound volume)
- Race monitor with different camera angles that can be toggled to view different areas of the race course
- Animated countdown Lakitu
- Pit Road area that allows players to heal if they take damage during a race (How cool is that?!)

NOTE - While a lot of vehicle addons for GMod work fairly well in-game, some of them can't handle tight turns, corners, or ramps very well. It is recommended that you use SligWolf's Go-Kart addon to get around this. You may need to take some time with it, but it works. Just be mindful that you may also crash when jumping ramps at high speeds due to the weight of the Go-Kart. But above all, use it to have fun on this map!
