Starting a run
1. When you start a run, use the correct ward against Lightuar and Darktuar.

2. Rely mostly on basic attacks to save up ATB. You need it to cast Aegis Ward, and at least 1 Transcendence action as early as possible. (See Gigantuar section)

2. When you see a huge group of cactuar, typically the Lightuar and Darktuar will try to perform a Dash attacks to knock you down. The best counter is Aegis Ward which freezes any that come near you.
  • Doing this stops them from knocking you down and lines them up for easy attacks.
  • Using Aegis lasts a while which is another benefit.

3. Avoid using too many storms. Only use it when you know a huge number of cactuar can get taken out. Otherwise stick to basic attacks since Aerith's attacks split and can take out multiple cactuar easily without losing ATB.

4. The easiest cactuar are the Gladiatuars that wear the orange vests. These take melee attacks so make sure to run out of any Light or Dark wards as soon as possible to encounter them.
  • If the Gladiatuars are in the Light or Darkt ward, you'll be doing ranged attacks which isn't effective against them.

5. Another reason to save up ATB is that sometimes you'll have the last Cactuar running around making you waste too much time. When this happens, use a Soul Drain to finish it off quickly.
Dealing with Reflect Cactuars
1. When Cactuars cast reflect, first make sure you have the correct ward for the cactuar on, Light or Dark ward.

2. Run out of the ward as soon as possible and chase it. Do a melee attack to destroy the reflect.

3. As soon as you destroy the reflect, Ward Shift back to the ward and attack the cactuar to destroy it.
Dealing with Gigantuar
  • If you don't have Transcendence, wait until you get it. It's almost a 1 shot kill, so it's worth it.

1. At the start of your run, you want to build ATB to cast an Aegis Ward which protects you from getting knocked down, but also immediately, use an ATB for a Level 1 Transcendence.

2. After the first Transcendence activates, it will gradually fill up to Level 2. Never use it until it reaches Level 2.

3. When the Gigantuar appears, you should have an ATB ready. Wait until it performs a Body Slam attack and run away to avoid it. Once the Gigantuar is down, cast the Level 2 Transcendence. This should be almost a 1 shot kill.

4. As soon as the Gigantuar is dead, use your next ATB to cast another Aegis Ward and start another Transcendence Level 1 to prepare for the next Gigantuar as soon as possible.
