Screenshot Guide - Mafia Definitive Edition

A guide to taking screenshots for those who find the F12 button not enough.
Here are the ways to use various mods, tools for Mafia: Definitive Edition that help you realize your creative idea.

An important stage

To begin with, it is recommended to set up the game, change the graphics settings to make the picture better.

| Dynamic Super Resolution

It is important to change the screen resolution to achieve maximum detail. Often it is enough to increase the resolution to 4K, but not everyone has access to such a configuration and to fix this, we use the NVIDIA panel - the DSR function. DSR-degree is the level of increase in the DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) resolution relative to the original. That is, you can choose how many times to increase the resolution (for example, 2.00x, 2.25x, 3.00x, and so on). This allows you to get 4K quality on a monitor with a resolution of 1920 by 1080.

HUD - Reshade mod

First, you need to download the archive with ready-made files, or more precisely, the ShaderToggler addon for HUD and its base - Reshade. All in one archive.

• Installation:

Extract the files from the Hud - Reshade archive to the root folder with the game, for example:
ProgramFiles(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MafiaDefinitiveEdition\

• Injector start and control:

You need to run the game as an administrator, when loading you will see a curtain with a notification from reshade. Blocking/unblocking by pressing the Home button. From the main menu you can check the functionality of the addon and remove the HUD by pressing the CapsLok button and return the HUD by pressing it again.

Extract files from the Mafia_CameraTools_v102b archive to any location.

• Injector start and control:

The first thing you need to do is run the game as an administrator, after setting up the graphics, etc.

| Additional features of Reshade

ReShade is a versatile tool for changing post-processing effects in games. It allows you to adjust color saturation, contrast, depth of field, film grain, and other aspects of game graphics. However, you can experiment with this for a long time.

• CinematicDOF - Depth of Field

It is enough to use the highlighted values.

• Detailed settings

Note that the game uses a reversed depth buffer. You will need to go to the global processor definitions and change RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED from 0 to 1. This is essential and otherwise depth shaders will not work properly.

• Change the screenshot key via Reshade.

Go to the settings tab in Reshade.
Go to the line and change the value.


This setting will make CinematicDOF work correctly, making your screenshots more impressive.

| ScriptHook

This is a menu for Mafia: Definitive Edition with a library of scripts and plugins that allows you to add cars, weapons, characters to the game, as well as change the weather, physics, sound effects and much more.

It is not necessary to install it, but it makes it easier to implement some ideas for photos. Create the desired car, character, teleport to the desired location, change the time.

Important! If you want to use Reshade together with Scripthook, your game may no longer launch, as Reshade hooks into the Scriphook launcher and interferes with the game. To fix this, edit Mafia - Definitive Edition\ScriptHook\data\config.json and change line 20 "showStartupMenu" from true to false.

| Free Ride Deluxe

This is a ScriptHook add-on - Complete rework of Free Ride. Story locations, populated interiors, shelters with garages and wardrobes, functional phone booths, friends/bodyguards and gang territories. In general, this will help to diversify your screenshots.

The author of the original mod: Nexus Mod[www.nexusmods.com] - Warning! This mod is no longer supported (no one is working on it).
There are random CTDs (crashes) that seem to occur near underground tunnels (like the prison and mansion).

• Installation:

Extract the files from the To Game Directory archive to the root folder with the game, or more precisely, move the ScriptHook folder. The main thing is that you already had the ScriptHook mod (installation topic above), because this is just an addition of scripts to the current mod base. Everything is ready to launch, the first changes can already be seen in the game menu.
