DX1 Rebirth - Descent Shareware Installation

In this Guide, I will show you how to install and run the Shareware Version of Descent in DX1 Rebirth.

1. Shareware Installation

Here's how to install the DX1 Source Port. First download the DX1 Rebirth Source Port from DXX Rebirth website

Download the Shareware Version of Descent:

Select Version 1.4 Shareware

Download and install DOSBOX. Add a Folder Called DOS and make a new Folder called "D1SWINS". Run dosbox and mount the DOS Folder you made then install Descent Shareware.

Follow the Installation Instructions shown and complete the Sound Setup then exit DOSBOX.

Create a new folder in the Descent Folder and Name it "DX1 Rebirth Shareware" and extract the DX1 Rebirth Files into the Folder.

Copy the Descent Shareware Files into DX1 Rebirth Shareware's Data Folder.

Do NOT run Descent just yet, you'll need to download the Sound Files Add-On from DXX-Rebirth then extract the OPL3 Music File into the DX1 Rebirth Shareware Folder.

Select Add a Game on Steam, locate the Shareware Version of Descent via the "DX1 Rebirth Shareware" Folder, add D1X Rebirth as a Non Steam Game and Rename it to "D1X Rebirth - Descent Shareware.

Run the game, set the correct video resolution and make any display changes necessary from Descent 1 Shareware after creating a Profile Save.

Start a New Game & Prepare for Descent into the PTMC Solar System Mining Colonies!
