LaD: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Achievement Guide

Short guide on all achievements and their requirements.

Preface

All of these achievements are achievable on the first go around, none of them are miss-able as far as I know. My own completion time was around 43 hours but this can vary.

Spoiler Achievements will have spoilers on them.

Story Achievements

These are free for just doing the story.

Shipwrecked
Complete Chapter 1


Heart of Darkness
Complete Chapter 2


The Old Man and the Sea
Complete Chapter 3


Treasure Island
Complete Chapter 4


Ya Gotta Keep Livin'
Complete the Final Chapter

Abilities/Combat

Very simple for this part, just attaining abilities through the level up system will get you these.

Fledgling Mad Dog
Obtained 10 abilities.


Powerful Mad Dog
Obtained 20 abilities.


Ferocious Mad Dog
Obtained 40 abilities.


Legendary Mad Dog
Obtained 60 abilities.



Note for these next 3 achievements you might think that you have to kill an enemy with these but you just need to hit them and deal damage with said ability.

Boomerang Lover
Use the cutlass boomerang (the hold light attack in pirate style) on enemies 100 times.


Chain Hook Expert
Use the chain hook (the hold grab in pirate style) on enemies 50 times.


Pistol Aficionado
Use the pistol attack (the hold heavy attack in pirate style) on enemies 50 times.


Majima Everywhere
Create a total of 56 doppelgangers from Mad Dog's Madness Gauge.

Piracy and Treasure

A bulk of these are tied to finding treasure or leveling up your Pirate Rank. Pirate Rank can be easily leveled up with doing random minigames or finding treasure out in the open ocean or Hawaii. I'm putting them here in bulk.

Sea Legs-Havers
Achieved the rank of Sea Legs-Havers (Rank ★★).


Popular Picaroons
Achieved the rank of Popular Picaroons (Rank ★★★).


. Buccaneer Bigshots
Achieved the rank of Buccaneer Bigshots (Rank ★★★★).


Legends of the Sea
Achieved the rank of Legends of the Sea (Rank ★★★★★).


Island Adventure
Complete 10 different islands in the open sea.


Novice Treasure Hunter
Obtained 10 different treasures.


Expert Treasure Hunter
Obtain 40 different treasures. If you need help getting the rest of these I would recommend doing the Devil Flags side story or farming a minigame or two to buy a chest from that minigame's vendor.

My Glorious Goromaru
Obtain 50 customization parts for the Goromaru. A lot of these are sold in shops around Hawaii and one vendor in Madlantis. Go for those first and the ones in the customization menu itself before farming minigames for the few that you might need.

Julie-chan's Biggest Fan
Create three different cannons at Julie's Gearworks. If you lack materials the pawn shops sell some that you can use, otherwise just sail around in currents until you get enough.

Rocket Sniper
Sink 5 enemy ships with the rocket launcher. This has to be while you're walking on the deck, not with any of the weapons on the ship.

Fashionable Fingers
Equip rings on all ten fingers at once. Most of the rings are attained through treasure. If you're lazy you can buy a few from the shops around Hawaii.

Recruitment and Open World

Bulking these two together since they both rely on you being in Hawaii most of the time.

Welcome to the Goro Pirates!
Recruit 30 members to the Goro Pirates. General tip for this is that a lot of substories give you crewmates and sometimes several at a time so if you're lacking on a few you can gun for those, otherwise they are dotted around Hawaii.

The Goro Pirates Set Sail!
Recruit 50 members to the Goro Pirates.


Goro Pirates, Go Go Go!
Recruit 80 members to the Goro Pirates.


Bounty Hunter
Complete 20 bounty missions. You get introduced to bounties soon after you land in Hawaii. Simply start a fight with them and enjoy the chunk of change after defeating them.

Super Bounty Hunter
Complete 50 bounty missions.


Goodbye, Old Me
Obtain 20 types of clothing items. Most of these are found in shops or as minigame point rewards, some can be found in bunches of 3-4 in crates around Hawaii.

Fashionista
Obtain 50 types of clothing items.


Trendsetter
Obtain 100 types of clothing items.


Memories of Honolulu
Take 30 different photos for the Photo Rally. You get introduced to this pretty early on. The Mall has some of the easier ones to obtain.

Extreme Extrovert
Befriend 50 people through Aloha Links. You no longer have to get off of your segway to emote, how wonderful.

By Hook or By Crook
Travel using the chain hook 20 times.


Hooking and Gathering
Capture 30 fish and bugs with the chain hook.


Making a Menagerie
Obtain 7 pets. They're marked by a paw icon on the minimap in Hawaii.


Not counting the Usual Ones
Obtain 2 golden balls. These are found and attained through the search mode around Madlantis and Hawaii.

Devil Flags

The Devil Flags play a big part of your treasures and pirate ranking as you go along the game. Save em for last or do them immediately, whatever you want. Steam spoilers these but the only thing that is a "spoiler" is the icon having the bosses picture most of the time.

Showdown on Rokka Island
Win the battle on Rokka Island. This is mandatory for the story so you'll get this regardless about your intention of finishing it.

Showdown on Atali Island
Defeat the first Devil Flags officer.


Showdown in Flame Heaven
Defeat the second Devil Flags officer.


Showdown in Frost Heaven
Defeat the third Devil Flags officer.


Remember the Goro Pirates!
Defeat the leader of the Devil Flags.


The Man Who Summoned the Gods
Play every dark instrument.


Divine Intervention
Summon the gods with dark instruments 30 times (Pirate Style Madness gague). I put this one and the previous here because you obtain dark instruments through the Devil Flags side story.

Substories

Substories are an easy way to print out crewmates as well as unlocked a few odds and ends things so I'd recommend them if you're lacking in crewmates.

Taking the Scenic Route
Complete 10 substories.


Main Story? What's That?
Complete 20 substories.


My Dream Minato Girl
Complete the Minato Girl substory chain that you start near the start of chapter 3. Its well worth doing for the rewards at the end alone. Also the fmvs arent as egregious as Gaiden's in size or content.

Minigames/Drink Links

No one shot pool normal mode thank god.

Party Pirate
Play 10 different minigames.


High-Speed Pirate
Win 3 different cups in Dragon Kart. There are only 3 to win.


Sea Shanties
While your "new" ship is in park near a lighthouse go into the captain's quarters and play one song.

Erudite Pirate
Obtain 5 certificates from the Ounabara Vocational School. Could be any 5 that you like.


Crazy Captain
Complete all of the Crazy Delivery courses. This means the 4 in the northwest of the map and the 4 near the beach.

Barrel Basher
Destroy a total of 1,500 barrels at the Bang Bang Batting Center at Madlantis. Hope you enjoy the Angry Birds main theme.

Domestic Pirate
Cook all recipes. 4 unlock upon getting your upgraded ship and one unlocks upon visiting the animal pen in Rich Island after getting 7 pets.

A majority/all of Noah's chats are in Hawaii, with his Drink Links taking place in Revolve. Your "important" crewmates chats however take place on the open ocean with their Drink Links taking place in the crewmates quaters/bar while near a lighthouse.

Coliseum

I did this last so its going into the guide last.

New Star of the Coliseum
Win 10 different matches in the Pirates' Coliseum.


Ace of the Coliseum
Win 20 different matches in the Pirates' Coliseum.


Master of the Coliseum
Win 30 different matches in the Pirates' Coliseum.


Legend of the Coliseum
Defeat the Amon Pirates. You just need to complete every Coliseum match to unlock the Amon fights. No full substory completion required.

For Rocket Sniper, do we need to only do damage by way of rockets? Cuz I have definitly sunk ships using the rocket as the final blow but haven't really done rocket damage only.
