This guide is a definitive listing of the stats the game uses for different Trench weapons during gameplay. They were pulled directly from game files using a tool I wrote, so I can't even typo them. Unless your game client is modified or Iron Brigade has been updated between February 2025 and you reading this, these are 100% accurate. If you're looking for a specific weapon, Ctrl+F should get you right to it.

If you want to start digging around in game files, you can download Double Fine Tool, a command-line program that will let you unpack and repack assets, from this GitHub repo. [github.com] All the stats that matter are stored in .proto files, and there are only two of them: all.proto and alldlc1.proto. Each item gets one line.

This is a weapon's proto file entry (specifically the one for the Topiary Trimmer):

It inherits from another item (the Hedge Trimmer in this case). Anything not defined as an Override in the Topiary's data is pulled from the Hedge Trimmer instead. This is the Hedge Trimmer's proto file entry:

You might notice that the Hedge Trimmer ALSO inherits from another item. MachineGun_01 is the Light Machine Gun you get at the start of the game. Here's its proto entry:

Thankfully, WeaponBase is a base class and contains no useful information, so this is the end of the chain. To get all the relevant stats for the Topiary Trimmer, we have to start with its base class, read all those values, and then work our way up its inheritance chain, updating the stats that get overridden in each entry until we get where we want to be. That sounds annoying, but doable.

So let's talk about my worst nightmare:

For the unfamiliar, this is Cannon_10, 00-02 "The King". Its proto entry looks like this.

We can see that it has a Projectiles array defined. The damage stat on the weapon itself doesn't matter, it's the projectile that does everything. So to know what it does, we need to look at its projectile's proto entry:

Oh. That projectile has RemainsProto (what it leaves behind when it's destroyed) and SpawnProto (what it creates while it's alive) defined. I'll spare you the entries for those, as this is getting long. CannonShellShard_10 has its own RemainsProto, which is set to CannonShellMiniShard_10. CannonShellMiniShard_10 and CannonShellMirvShard_10, thankfully, just explode without spawning anything else.

To get an accurate picture of what this weapon does, I need to look at:
  • the cannon itself, which has an inheritance chain that's four entries long
  • the projectile it fires, which has an inheritance chain that's three entries long
  • the MIRV projectiles it drops, which inherit from two items
  • the cluster munitions, which are three deep
  • the cluster sub-munitions, which are two deep
That's a total of twelve entries to assimilate, which is a lot. And I have a project I'm working on that requires me to do this many times. So I created a tool that does it for me. Then I realized that tool could be useful to others, so I ran it on every weapon in the game and put the results into this guide.

You may notice that proto entries have a lot of stats that aren't listed in the guide. I exclude stats that I know have no impact on gameplay to save on character limit. A full list of the stats that are excluded is in the "What Isn't Here?" section of this guide.
What About Weapons' Stat Cards?
Stat cards in the shop and loadout screens are derived from .MechItem files that contain all the information listed in those interfaces. They have nothing to do with the weapons' actual stats and aren't tied to them at all - I could add two zeroes to the damage of a weapon, and its stat card would stay the same.

Some stat card values are efforts to approximate more complicated behavior into a single number - for instance, The King's stat-card damage is 248, but its initial explosion does 124 damage near its center, then each cluster bomb does another 10.3 damage. It launches five first-level cluster bombs, which then explode into three more each for a total of twenty 10.3-damage explosions. If all of The King's damage could be applied to a single target, it would do 330 damage. And that's before factoring in its MIRV bomblets, which also do 10.3 damage and are deployed every 0.25 seconds.

Some are misleading - the HA-S "Razor of the Gods" famously has Flak+/Shredder+ listed as its ability, but the chance that it actually procs its Shred effect is the same as the S-1 Shred, which simply has Shred. It's not clear whether this is a bug or intentional.

And some are just... a little confusing. Fire rates on stat cards seem to be in rounds per ten seconds. I'm not sure why that was the chosen method of representing it over rounds per minute or just exposing FireInterval, which is the cooldown between shots.

There's also information that can't be expressed in stat cards. The Massive Magnet Launcher does have a magnet effect, but only on its cluster bombs. The grenade itself doesn't. There's no way to express this in a stat card, so you'll just have to read it here.
