2. Installation Summary

Each mod has its own installation instructions on its respective mods page. However, here is a quick summary:

4K Textures Instructions :

• Most texture mods require placing .pak, .ucas and .utoc files in the folder:
  

  \FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH\End\Content\Paks\~mods

  If the ~mods folder isn't there, just create it.

Reshade Instructions :

• Reshade presets should be placed in the main game steam folder:

  To install Reshade:
  
  1. Download it from https://reshade.me/.
     
  2. Select the game executable and enable DirectX 11/12.

  4. Download the mod and extract the files somewhere. Copy everything from the "Main files" folder to the main game steam folder.
  
  
• TIP about Reshade :
  If you having the error message "dxgi.dll already exist, but does not belong to Reshade", take the existing dxgi.dll out of the game folder. Put it on the desktop for the time being, install Reshade as you would. Now rename the created dxgi.dll to d3d11.dll and copy the one you put on the desktop back into the game folder.

• FFVIIHook installation is pretty simple, inside the extraded folder, go to "End/Binaries/Win64" and place the "xinput1_3.dll" in this folder :

  \FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH\End\Binaries\Win64

Ultimate Engine Tweaks Instructions :

• Ultimate Engine Tweaks mod is pretty simple too but may need a little configuration depending on your pc specs.
  Extract the zip and move the "Engine.ini" file to this location :

  %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

  If the WindowsNoEditor folder isn't there, just create it.
  
• The file "Engine.ini" can be modified with a simple text editor, inside the file, pay attention to some comment lines after ";" which may be related to specific configurations (e.g. VRR usage, SSD type, RAM amount etc.), so change them accordingly to your hardware.

These mods do not significantly impact performance if you have a modern GPU. I personally run it using an RTX 4080 SUPER 16GB, the Natural Fantasy mod is recommended for GPUs with 8GB+ VRAM and NVME SSDs.

You're right! The game already looks great by default! But I added the Reshade along with the 4K mod to enhance the effect because the 4K mod alone adds a bit of improvement, but since it's 30GB of textures, might as well make the most of it with Reshade

The 4k textures mod for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth do nothing comparing to the file Final Fantasy 7 Remake HD Project V 1.0 from ESRGAN
