Learn how to own a home in Quinfall

NO LONGER BEING UPDATED: I logged in one day to find that the America server that I chose was deleted. Along with that, my house (and all my items, including those in town banks) were wiped. lol. I will not be coming back to Quinfall.

Overview
There are two types of home ownership in Quinfall.
You may rent instanced housing within NPC cities, and you may also have your own homestead (called "altars") on the worldmap itself.

Renting and even owning your own home in Quinfall is rather easy and it's a lot of fun!

NO LONGER BEING UPDATED: I logged in one day to find that the America server that I chose was deleted. Along with that, my house (and all my items, including those in town banks) were wiped. lol. I will not be coming back to Quinfall.
Renting
The major cities, including the early game city of Meadow, have instanced housing and farmland available. "Instanced" means that you will teleport to your own rental property upon entering the home. So an unlimited number of players may rent these properties.

You may find the housing on the world map, as in the image below.

Houses are rented using the game’s currency.
The smallest house (“size 3”) costs 36,000 for 10 days of rental. "Days" are real life days -- 24 hours. So this means that the smallest house costs only 3.6k per real-life day; that's very cheap! Even this small house can support all 4 workbenches currently in game, along with some space for your own storage chests.

You may find the costs of each property by either visiting the property or by clicking on the house icon within the world map.

As far as I know, you can have a large number of rental properties (maybe even unlimited?) across the world! You can keep track of your rental properties through the in-game menu titled "leased houses"

While you cannot grow crops inside a rented home, each city also has instanced farmland available for rent. You can grow crops in these lands just as you would in your own home (“altar”) outside of the city.

BENEFITS OF RENTING:
-Cheaper than your own altar, and requires only currency and no resource materials to upkeep.
-Proximity to the central market means, depending on the city layout, you can buy and sell crafting ingredients from within your home!
-Proximity to the quest board and NPC vendors
Building your Home (Altar)
In Quinfall, your personal territory is centered around your “altar”.

To build an altar, you must first find designated areas on the map called “lands”. Lands are a ~1km area within which you may build your altar.

There are two types of lands—PVE (blue) and PVP (red).
In PVE lands, your home cannot be raided by others and they cannot steal your belongings (even on PVP channels).
But if you build your altar in a PVP land, then players can raid your base and steal your belongings (See the “benefits” section below for why a player might choose to build in the PVP zone)

To build your altar, enter a land and open the build menu *(“U” by default).
An individual altar costs 40 low quality wood and 23 low quality stone.

Please note that you may use ANY low quality wood. Press the downward arrow underneath the ingredient to select the type of wood you wish to build with.

After you have placed your altar, you will have a 50 meter sphere of build space around the altar. This is large enough for a modestly sized home and farming space. Return to the build menu ("U") to begin constructing your home!
Altar Upkeep
A basic altar without any buildings costs only modest upkeep – a daily requirement of low quality wood and stone. You can see the upkeep costs by opening the altar interface.
Unlike renting, there is no currency cost. Maintaining an altar instead requires raw materials.

You may stack about 14 days of materials at once. If the altar runs out of fuel, your home and everything in it will quickly decay.

As you build floors, walls, and decorations (using the build menu “U”), your upkeep will increase. When you place workbenches and furniture in your base (such as storage chests) there will also be a low quality ore (e.g., diamond, lava rock, gold, etc) upkeep cost in addition to the wood and stone. The upkeep costs raise as you add buildings and decorations.

To get a sense of the upkeep costs to expect, my little cabin (with 9 storage chests, 1 workbench, and a small farm; see the home below) has the following upkeep costs.
-246 low quality wood
-12 Low quality ore (e.g., Lava Stone)
-29 Low quality stone
-12 low quality iron

All of these resources can be collected in under 10 minutes when using sturdy quality (profession level 25) tools at a sensible spot on the map.

If you have an economic mind, you might plan for expenses in terms of opportunity costs. Ask yourself, “what could I earn if I were to sell these materials on the market instead of sinking them into my altar?” This is a good strategy to help you determine whether it is sensible to build additions to your home.

Leveling up your Altar
As you harvest, fight, and farm within 5km of your altar, your altar itself will gain experience.

When it reaches a threshold, you may level it up. Personal altars can be upgraded up to level 5.

Level 2 upgrade costs
-20 Wood [Medium quality]
-5 wood [High quality]
-20 Ore [Medium quality]
-5 Ore [High quality]
-100 iron [Low quality]

Level 2 Features
1.) Build area diameter expands slightly in all directions (including vertically). The exanded area is approximately 3 times the width of an altar. See the image below to visualize this expansion

~~Level 2 radius upgrade visualized~~

2.) Max number of buildings and furniture "set pieces" increases to 960
3.) Max number if identical workbenches increases to 3

Upgrading does NOT..
-Increase the upkeep. In other words, feel free to upgrade as soon as you have the required resources to do so.
-Unlock any additional buildings or crafting options. All building and crafting options are presumably available at level 1
-Increase the radius from the altar around which you gain additional XP. You gain an XP buff within 5km of your altar regardless of level
-Increase the XP gain rate. The XP buff is unchanged from Level 1 to Level 2

Level 3 upgrade costs
-40 Wood [Medium quality]
-10 wood [High quality]
-40 Ore [Medium quality]
-10 Ore [High quality]
-30 iron [Medium quality]

Level 3 Features (to be added early-mid Feb 2025)
Benefits of your own Altar
Besides obvious benefits such as the joys of having your own property on the map, the benefits of having an altar are as follows:

-Increased experience gain within 5km of the altar! This is a MASSIVE benefit. The PVP (red) lands give 50% boost to profession and weapon experience, and a 30% boost to character experience. The PVE (blue) lands give a boost, but I’m unsure of the exact percentage as the in-game tool-tips do not explicitly provide the rate.
-At current, many players do not build a home with storage building, etc. They instead simply place their altar (usually in PVP lands) near the areas they intend to play for the additional XP gain. They destroy their altar or simply let it deteriorate when they are ready to move to another location. This is a very efficient strategy for those who don't care about the other benefits of having a homestead.

-Convenient farming. You can place crops and animals anywhere you’d like on the ground near your altar. You can grow crops and raise animals within rented farm plots near cities. But having these features within your own homestead is more convenient, and really cool. It's neat to hear chickens clucking near your own home.

-Respawn. There is a decoration item called “simple bed”. The tooltip explains that players can respawn at beds upon death. I will edit this guide when I have tested this feature to verify whether it works. (This is both an early access game and originally written in a non-English language. So expect some tool-tips to be incorrect as a result).

Thanks Vaddor. I'll update this guide to include clan altar costs, but first I need to calculate clan altar build space/radisu before posting info. Clan seems larger than the personal altar, commensurate with the increased costs. But I want to measure precisely before posting.

For a guild altar, the upgrade is significantly more expensive
Level 2 upgrade:

-80 Wood [Medium quality]
-20 Wood [High quality]
-80 Ore [Medium quality]
-20 Ore [High quality]
-400 iron [Low quality]

Just upgraded! The player lied, lol.
Upgrading the altar does NOT increase upkeep costs. Just updated this guide to reflect that.
