Do you want to help with this mod? Submit your ideas for Sciencey Puns based off the Civ5 City States and I'll be sure to feature it and credit you in the mod! Because I'm a humourless ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and spent all my humour bucks on Moon-a Co. already (I have a low budget).

Traits:
Outposts turn into Stations rather than Cities
+20 Trade Routes in the Capital (TAKE THAT HUTAMA)

I'm taking a break from my usual project because I woke up in the middle of the night, saw an opportunity and took it. Similarly, Dandolo woke up one night, saw how meaningless life on earth was, adopted 3rd level Freedom, bought all the space ship parts in 6 turns, and gave us all the finger as he shot off into space.

SO WHAT EXACTLY DOES SPACE VENICE DO?! HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM CIV5 VENICE?! Rather than building colonists, Space Venice builds Charter Companies. Unlike colonists, Charter Companies are much cheaper, don't halt growth, and their outposts grow 500% faster. The catch is, rather than turning into a city that develops strong healthy bones with lots of milk, it turns into a neutral station that anyone can trade with (WHAT?!)

BUT STATIONS ARE TERRIBLE!

IT'S TRUE! They ARE terrible! But by having control over where your stations build, and their relatively cheap (compared to colonists), you can build stations in strategic locations to block off choke points, denying other players large tracts of bountiful land, and adding extra resources to your empire through the trade routes you'll need to make with them to keep them alive! Did I mention that, as Venice, you have +20 trade routes you can send out from your Capital?! HOT DAWG THAT'S A LOT OF TRADE ROUTES!

BUT HOW DO YOU WIN WITH JUST ONE CITY! Don't worry! The area around a station is yours to keep! In this way, you can take advantage of critical resources you need that your capital might not have! It also proves potent protection for keeping rogue players from destroying your stations without your permission!

This doesn't seem like the AI would play well.

Actually, let me answer those. Playing the faction was really weird and really fun! It messes with your priorities, but it is a doable and unique challenge. The AI will have a certain advantage over you, but it's not unbeatable! Play smart, play sneaky, be Astro-Doge Dandolo and use every trick in the book. It is certainly playable, maybe not well balanced, but also VERY different from any faction in Beyond Earth so far!

GOOD NEWS: WAY MORE STATIONS. Huge thanks to Vice Virtuoso not only for his modular script loading but also the brilliant idea of sending Civ5 City States INTO SPACE.

BAD NEWS: No more yummy territory donuts! When a station dies/withdraws/fails to build, you lose ALL the territory around it. Yes, only your territory you sneaky people you. SO BE SURE TO KEEP YOUR IMPORTANT ONES ALIVE.

Updated for the Winter Patch. The winter patch wrecked all my stuff! Also made the leader art in the Civilopedia less suck. In other news STILL NO CIVILOPEDIA!

This mod looks really fun as I enjoyed the hell out of Venice in Civilization 5 and I've always been kind of sad that they never attempted something like them in this game or the next. However, I can't seem to play it. Though, this comment is two-ish years after the last comment was ever made and maybe three-ish years since It's been touched so odds are it isn't updated for Rising Tide. Wish I could play it with the full updated game though. Mod looks fun and thanks for making it. :cozybethesda:

I only noticed Venice this past couple days... And I had Civ V for like 2/3 years. Shut it. lol. I haven't played Venice yet but I fully understand the stupid. You had my up vote the moment I saw "Space Venice."

was having an issue where the stations i build would just dissapear from the game at random, not starved of trade, not killed by enemies, just 1 turn its there, next its gone, am starting a fresh save file to try figuring out if the dissapearing stations have anything in common so i can let you know what specifically needs fixed.
