This guide will help you fix the error "DX12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument"

How to fix this error

In order to fix the error when starting the game, you need to download the archive provided below and unpack the file "d3d12.dll", and then paste it in the following path:
"\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH\End\Binaries\Win64"

Note: this fix currently only works on GTX 16XX series video card. Also, the fix may not work on Windows 10

First, I want to thank you for this fix from the bottom of my heart. I had looked everywhere to find a solution only to find this hidden gem by scrolling down the page.

BUT..... is any one else having the fatal error prompt after Sephiroth removes Jenova's statue? I've ran the game three times for it to crash at the same spot every time.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE someone give me the fix so I'm not left stranded barely 2 hrs into the game

I upgraded to an RTX 4060 and still got this DX12 error. Found out I was on an old version of Windows (version 1903) instead of the latest 22H2, which prevents the graphics card from fully updating the drivers it needs. Had to go find and install a BIOS update file for my motherboard. This is hands down the most effort I've ever had to go through to play a game I bought.
