Step 1: Start at the title screen.
Open the game and either wait through or skip the intro until you get to the title screen.
(This will be helpful to make sure it worked when you change the option in the Steam Controller settings)
Step 2: Open the Steam Overlay.
On your keyboard, hit Shift + Tab to bring up the Steam Overlay.
Step 3: Open Controller Settings.
Find the option on the bottom (or if you have list view enabled, the left) of the overlay called "Controller Settings."

Step 4: Select the default layout to change it.
The controller configuration settings window for PB:O will open up.

On it, under "Current Button Layout", you'll see the configuration by default is set to "Official Layout for Phantom Breaker: Omnia - OfficialBind2".

Click on this to select another layout.

Step 5: Select the original release layout.
At the bottom of the "Load new Layout" window, there's an option called "Show All Layouts".

Either press the button for or click that and you'll see a new layout appear called "Official Layout for Phantom Breaker: Omnia - Official Layout for Phantom Breaker: Omnia" with it saying "Layout created by for use with the Xbox One controller."

Select this layout.

Step 6: Apply the layout.
At the bottom of the "Phantom Breaker: Omnia Controller Settings" window, there's an option called "Apply Layout", either press the button for or click that to select the original Xbox layout instead of the PS4 controller layout that is selected by default which has those two buttons mapped incorrectly.

Step 7: Test it.
Once the layout has been applied, close the controller settings window and test the button configurations at the title screen.

If you're able to select "Game Start" with the Cross (X) button then you should be all set!
