Supermarket Sim Tutorial Cheat Sheet
By GrumpLump
This is just a list of all the game's tutorials and also what triggers them just because someone asked me about it, so I thought I would put it here in case anyone else would like to know.

"Main" Tutorials
What I mean by "main" here is that these tutorials are one after another and don't have any prerequisites for popping up. The other group of tutorials ("dynamic") only pop up after certain requirements are met, and will supersede other missions.

  1. Order goods using your computer

  2. Pick up the boxes

  3. Place products onto shelves

  4. Throw out the empty box

  5. Set product price

  6. Open store

  7. Wait for customers

  8. Go to checkout

  9. Scan items

  10. Take the money and give change

  11. Scan items and use card reader

  12. Perform 25 checkouts

  13. Dirtiness tutorial (Dirt is now enabled)
-collect garbage and throw in trash can
    -clean dirt with mop
    -clean window(s) with sponge

  14. Buy Crate

  15. Hold TAB to open Tool Wheel and Pick Crate

  16. Purchase Product license using the computer

  17. Purchase a fridge or shelf

  18. Purchase a new section of your store

  19. Name your store

  20. Purchase paint from the market and paint the walls

  21. Buy a baseball bat from the market

  22. Hold TAB to open the tool wheel and pick baseball bat (Shoplifters are now enabled)
-Hit the shoplifter with the bat (bruh)
Dynamic Tutorials
As stated above, these tutorials are different from the "main" ones because they only appear after certain prerequisites are met.

  • Turn on the lights using the wall switch
Only appears after it's dark for the first time

  • Buy the tablet
-purchase an order from your tablet
-Hold TAB to open tool wheel and pick the tablet

Only appears once you have 3 product licenses

  • Buy the scale & set up produce
    -Buy scale (0 / 1)
    -Buy produce stand (0 / 1)
    -Buy Fruit & Veggie Licence
-Wait for customer to use the scale

Only appears once one of the prerequisites (licence, scale, stand) are already bought / in your cart

  • Overcharge tutorial
-put change back by clicking on the money counted

Only appears when you give too much change for the first time

Note: when doing the scale tutorial you have to input the code on the bag, and not anything on the computer screen. The screen does not give any helpful information when it comes to actually doing the job; the only number you need is on the paper bag under said screen. Then, a sticker pops out that you stick to the bag.

But when I booted up my old save after a few/several months of not playing (eww life) I didn’t get any new tutorials. So, as for the “main” ones, I don’t think there’s any more of those since they always immediately popped up at the start of every update. So……………..that’s a thing.

I imagine there’s another tutorial that’s activated when I buy one of the vehicles tho

I imagine there’s more now for cars and discounts and stuff but I don’t think anything here will ever become “inaccurate” so to speak. I’ve been meaning to just play through the game again and redo both of my guides, probably over the summer. College has been rough lol.

But yeah I just figured this out through a bit of experimentation bc the save file is incredibly human readable (it was made in unity/csharp after all, at least the save is) but when I go back to redo this I’ll probably see if I can get a more complete deconstruction of the game’s code since Unity is a really well known engine and csharp is super well documented so we’ll see.

This was written ages ago, but if it remains accurate even now and through launch? It saves a lot of paranoia that I will not be soft locking a permanent tutorial prompt in the corner of the screen forever when I save produce for last (due to real life grocery store flashbacks being MAXIMUM over the thought of digital customers confused over produce prices).

Because if this is all, that means I will not end up with a forever "unlock meat/dairy!" or whatever, due to having already unlocked all of those while the game still begs me to unlock produce for the last 100+ in game days.
