★󠁧󠁳 Description
This is my review for Yakuza 4 Remastered. Before diving into the content, it's important to note that this guide also serves as a small reference, including game content such as menus, options, and features, to help users understand what the game offers in terms of configuration rather than giving away story or gameplay spoilers.

I’ll write my in-depth review here, since Steam has an 8K character limit. Additionally, it's important to remember that this guide is purely based on personal opinions as a casual player reviewing the game, and it focuses solely on Yakuza 4 Remastered experience. You haven't seen a review quite like this before. Consider following my curator :)
󠁧󠁳 Note
This isn’t a walkthrough or achievement guide.Don't mind me, just like writing game review as side hobby with my broken english.

Well, I just use this guide for writing as a hobby, so yeah, welcome to My Stupid Review of content.

ⓘ This guide has a bunch of image files in each list. Some images may not load properly due to Steam's server issues, so you might need to reload the page to load those that failed to download.

Well, technically, your internet just sucks.

★󠁧󠁳 Review
This is the point where you should start your remaster!
After the long, slow-paced beach episode in Yakuza 3, I can finally get back on track. in term of story, ofc.

As before, if you’re diving into this game, be aware that all Yakuza remasters have optimization issues.
󠁧󠁳 Gameplay
Mentioning gameplay, yes, you only have one style, unlike the Kiwami series. Unless you're an old player familiar with the heat mechanic in the original games, there’s not much to offer for Kiryu yet, and that’s the point.

Yakuza 4 introduces four main characters, starting with Akiyama, the idiot billionaire with a cool mechanic—better than Kiryu, though he can’t really charge. Then there’s Taiga, the silent, all-Japanese wannabe. He’s a charger character, which I mostly hate because his story doesn’t let you progress enough, forcing you to grind before the finale. Next is Tanimura, who’s obsessed with parrying and has the most disappointing ending I’ve ever seen in a Yakuza game. Technically, he might be the one who inspired the Judgment series. Lastly, we have our beloved Kiryu, the old orphan man babysitting Yakuza, all of whom rely on him.

So yeah, four playable characters with different fighting styles is a fresh experience and even inspired me to do substories again like my Kiwami run. Even without the Trouble Maker item, Yakuza 4’s opening feels like where Ryu Ga Gotoku should’ve started. They should remake Yakuza 3 because that game sucks. The rest? I know you’ve already played 3, so... it’s fine.
󠁧󠁳 Graphic
Technically, the graphics are kinda the same, but it seems there’s more 'reflection' than in previous titles. Still, that’s part of my problem—day maps aren’t my thing. I love Tokyo, and I love Kamurocho or Kabukichō at night, not the daytime version full of stressed-out Japanese salesmen. But still, it looks better than Yakuza 3 because Kiryu doesn’t feel so bulky and wide.

Overall, I don’t have many issues, except for... the blood. When you beat up NPCs, the blood textures look terrible, whether on low, medium, or high settings—it’s just terrifying. I liked how Kiwami allowed you to turn off the blood effects. Not trying to sound like a male Karen or an American audience, or you know rainbow hair gamer from western mostly american who never buy a games but trying to put their agendas on games, but honestly, I don’t care about the blood at all. This remaster just has the worst blood textures, and that’s all.

󠁧󠁳 Controls
Same as before: if you see a Steam user leaving a negative review for this game just because they're using a keyboard and mouse, block them. they can't even read.

Works fine with a D-input gamepad.
󠁧󠁳 Playtime
Main story takes around 20h to beat, 93h for completionists, and about 31h for all styles. For me, I finished in 35.6h while trying to do substories because this one make me interested in resuming the Yakuza stories, and here I am, not entirely 100% done with the game because, unlike all of you, I'm a busy guy. :p

󠁧󠁳 Story
Dang, the story starting with our new protagonist was great. Akiyama was the best choice to kick things off, but he's such an idiot. The more you progress, it feels like this game was experimental. I mean, Taiga's arc tried to be some Breaking Bad kind of deal, but it failed. he's useless here, and I hate him. The rest was fine, though kinda messy and mixed. I can’t say it’s the best story because, from all my runs in the series, Yakuza 0 takes the trophy.

At this point, I realized Yakuza always has the same clichés: betrayal, connections to past events, and some random new guy trying to take down the dragon. They’re all idiots, amateurs. Kiryu doesn’t even talk much here. he’s just minding his business, and these new enemies keep trying to ruin his life, only to fall like dominoes. I’m just hoping Yakuza 5 fixes this, but we’ll see.

Talking about the Tanimura section and its ending, let’s get into the controversy: Hiroki Narimiya being framed by his friend for doing cocaine? Drugs? Like, come on, it’s his friend! And why is doing drugs became wrong when people let cops and the government doing corrupt? I don’t care much about the new face replacing him. the old one was fine too, so it doesn’t matter. The only thing I hate about Tanimura is the ending because—spoiler alert, skip this section if you want to avoid it. it sucks. All those cops gang up on you unfairly, like in real life in country called wakanda at SEA. Even with my level at 18 or 19 or something, it’s the worst boss fight in any Yakuza playthrough Ueno feel like small problem now.

Overall, the story was fine. the ending was kinda okay-ish, but man, too much betrayal. It seems like betrayal is a Yakuza things, so yeah.

Optimise Fix
Game GPU usage is normal, but CPU usage is weird af. With this patch, it should fix that issue, so your CPU usage will be lower than it was.

 • Still no Trouble Maker item.
Like, c’mon, I love that "!" symbol on my map, but there’s a "?" quest I can’t even take it. even though it’s there.

 • Unoptimized CPU usage.
Same as before, and yeah, it’s a remaster.

 • Taiga's story sucks.
I hate him—glad his ending story, though.

 • Kiryu suddenly thinking it’s his problem
so he can go back to beating people up.

It's a progressing story. even the sub-stories have progress throughout Yakuza 4. You can't skip that, even though the story is kinda ass. But sure, you can enjoy the main story. Both games don’t have a big impact, except in 4 we get four playable protagonists.
