How to do Cross Progression on Steam Deck or Multiple Windows/Linux Devices

This guide gives a run through on how to set up cross progression with PC and steam deck. Choose what fits your need in the table of contents. If you are starting out fresh, first make the MEGA account and then follow the order in which you need. This guide is meant to be a a temporary placeholder until steam cloud save is introduced for Webfishing. It involves making a MEGA account.

Creating a MEGA Account
The first step to this guide involves creating a mega account. If you already have an existing MEGA account, skip this step. The link to the MEGA website is as follows - https://mega.io/

Cloud Saving Your Progression from PC
This section includes how to save your Webfishing data to the cloud on PC (Windows)

1. Go to your file explorer
2. Click on this PC
3. Click on View
4. Hover over Show
5. Check Hidden Items
6. Go to your cloud drive in MEGA. On the top right, hover over Upload and then choose Upload Folder
7. Click on your (C:) drive, or wherever Windows is downloaded
8. Click on Users
9. Click on your current user
10. Click on AppData
11. Click on Roaming
12. Click on GoDot
13. Click on app_userdata
14. Upload webfishing_2_newver
15. You may need to overwrite existing data. Choose upload and merge, then Upload and update for all items


Congratulations, you have now uploaded your Webfishing data to the MEGA cloud!
Retrieving your Cloud Save on PC
This section includes how to retrieve your cloud save from MEGA on PC (Windows).

1. Go to your cloud drive on MEGA
2. Click the 3 dots on the webfishing_2_newver folder
3. Hover over download
4. Click Standard Download
5. Drag your download to your desktop








6. Right click the zip folder
7. Click Extract all
8. Extract it to the following location. Edit the (user) part to be the user you are using, and the storage drive if needed. C:\Users\(user)\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata
9. Replace the files in the location

Congratulations, you have successfully retrieved your cloud save from MEGA!



Cloud Saving Your Progression from Steam Deck
This section includes how to save your Webfishing data to the cloud on the Steam Deck.

1. Go to Dolphin (your file explorer)
2. Click on the 3 lines at the top left
3. Check Show Hidden Files













4. Click Home on the side
5. Click .steam
6. Click Steam
7. Click steamapps
8. Click compatdata
9. Click 3146520
10. Click pfx
11. Click drive_c
12. Click users
13. Click steamuser
14. Click AppData
15. Click Roaming
16. Click Godot
17. Click app_userdata
18. Hovering over webfishing_2_newver, press L2 and copy the folder
19. Paste the folder on your desktop with L2, and then Paste one folder
20. Go to your cloud drive in MEGA. On the top right, hover over Upload and then choose Upload Folder
21. Under home, then deck, then Desktop, select your webfishing_2_newver folder and upload it
22. You may need to overwrite existing data. Choose upload and merge, then Upload and update for all items

Congratulations, you have now uploaded your Webfishing data to the MEGA cloud!
Retrieving your Cloud Save on Steam Deck
This section includes how to retrieve your cloud save from MEGA on the Steam Deck.

1. Start by switching to the desktop mode on the Steam Deck. For this to work you need to have launched Webfishing atleast once on your steam deck.
2. Go to https://mega.io/ and sign in, go to your cloud drive in MEGA
3. Click the 3 dots on the webfishing_2_newver folder
4. Hover over Download
5. Click Standard Download
4. Drag your zip folder to the desktop
5. Press L2 on the zip folder
6. Hover over Extract
7. Click Extract archive here
8. Open Dolphin (the file explorer)
9. Click the 3 lines on the top left
10. Check Show Hidden Files
11. Click Home on the side
12. Click .steam
13. Click Steam
14. Click steamapps
15. Click compatdata
16. Click 3146520
17. Click pfx
18. Click drive_c
19. Click users
20. Click steamuser
21. Click AppData
22. Click Roaming
23. Click Godot
24. Click app_userdata
25. Copy the extracted folder on your desktop with L2
26. Paste the new data in with L2 and selecting 'Paste one item', you should be at the following path - home/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/3146520/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/Godot/app_userdata/webfishing_2_newver/
27. It will bring you to a Folder Already Exists prompt. Check the Apply to All checkmark and click Write Into
28. It will prompt you again. Check the Apply to All checkmark and click Overwrite

Congratulations, you have successfully retrieved your cloud save from MEGA!

Thanks for the rec! Any other service would definitely work. I just make the walk-through for something specific due to the troubleshooting on my other guide.

MEGA is definitely solid, but if someone didn't want to make another account for a service then I would personally recommend SyncThing, which runs locally on the devices you install it on. Works on Windows and Linux devices like the Steam Deck.

Some tips, you should defiantly create a shortcut on desktop to the path on both steamdeck and windows. Will save a LOAD of time in clicking through files.

Also, I haven't personally looked into this but using the 'Decky Loader' there is a cloud saves extension which I think might be looking into OP.
