Professionals Have Standards Achievement
By Kilgor
This is a step-by-step guide for the secret achievement "Professionals Have Standards". To unlock this, the brewery quest "Fate of the Brewery" must be finished in a different way.
NOTE: The achievement can only be unlocked during the quest and before the brewery has been liberated.

Step 1: Get the quest from Odar
After completing your first contract, you can pick up the quest "Fate of the Brewery" from Odar, elder of Osbrook. In this quest, you must liberate the Oak Barrel Brewery from bandits.
The Oak Barrel Brewery is located east of Osbrook.
Step 2: Talk to Jurg the Carpenter
Before heading to the brewery, talk to Jurg the Carpenter in Osbrook. During your conversation with him, Jurg mentions that he doesn’t like Odar.

When you ask why, he brings up the name Dwar but refuses to elaborate further about him. To get more information, you have three options:
  • Threaten him (not recommended)
  • Pay him 100 crowns
  • Help him with a task
If you choose to help him, you’ll receive the sidequest "Forgotten Plane", where you must locate a wrecked merchant cart to recover Jurg’s ordered goods.
In the quest information, you can get the location of the cart on the map.

Go there, kill the bandits guarding the area, grab the plane, and bring it back to Jurg.
Jurg is telling you then an important piece of information regarding Odar. This information is necessary for the next step.
Step 3: Go to the Brewery
Once you’ve learned some lore from Jurg, head to the brewery, and you’ll receive a dialogue option that you wouldn’t normally get if you simply showed up at the brewery.

If you have this dialogue option, you’ve done everything correctly!
With this option, Kromm will come forward and talk to you, the owner of the brewery. Cooperate with him to learn more lore about the brewery and Odar.

After hearing the lore behind the quest, Kromm will offer you a choice:

  • Help him and betray Odar
  • Remain loyal to Odar (which will lead directly to a fight).

Decide to help him, he will ask you to eliminate some bandits, who can be found at the Lone Farmstead.
Step 4: Lone Farmstead and Odar
Head to the Lone Farmstead, located near the brewery, and kill the bandits there.

Inside the farmhouse, you’ll also find a note on the table with more lore about the brewery.

Then return to Kromm and inform him of your success.

Afterward, go back to Odar and confront him. He will not be happy, but if you promise not to report him to the Magistrate, you’ll have two options also depending on your choice, your reputation in Osbrook will decrease:
  • Option 1: 500 gold + (-200 reputation)
  • Option 2: A promise with him to leave the brewery alone + (-600 reputation)
Note: It doesn't matter which option you choose. For the achievement, it only counts that you get Verren's horse and cart from Kromm.

The quest concludes when you talk to Verren about it in the tavern. By taking this alternative route, you’ll unlock the "Professionals Have Standards" achievement.

Additionally, you’ll unlock a special dialogue with Jurg if you speak with him again after completing the quest. It's also worth having a speak with Kromm again (he is located in the long building at the brewery)

Do you get the achievement regardless of which option you choose at the end?

Sure thing. I just remember not finding anything about this bug before, and I only just ran into the solution myself recently, so I thought it worth recording.

@Schmerbe The only advantage of option 1 is that you get more money and lose less reputation level. In option 2, there would also be gold from Kromm, but nowhere near as much as what Odar gives you

@Digganob Thank you for the important information. It's really strange that this sometimes happens...

Is Option 1 in the last step strictly the better choice or is there another benefit in having Odar promise to leave the brewery alone?

I have something to note: Sometimes, the dialogue option to ask him more about Dwar is not available. In that case, I found that finishing the brewery quest up until actually going there, and asking more about it from Odar, will fix Jurg, so you can finally ask more.

This is certainly some kind of bug. Ordinarily, I can go straight to talking to Jurg, and get the dialogue done. But sometimes it's just not finishable.
