How to dump PS3 roms

gmod can get boring, here's how to dump PS3 roms and turn them into emulatable games

step 1: getting roms

piracy is very unethical and illegal, and just because games aren't sold anymore doesn't mean you should pirate games from websites like vimm's lair or myrient. you shouldn't use them because they're trusted by pirates, who like those sites for their large catalog of games that don't have any viruses. again, DON'T use those sites that pirates love

step 2: disc dumping

look for a disc dumper online, shouldn't be too hard to find, the rpcs3 website (ps3 emulator website) has one but it didn't work for me, so i use disc dumper windows and despite how the name sounds, it is NOT a virus. once you've extracted the .zip file it comes in, it should have an exe file within.

step 3: clash of the titans

this is where things get tricky, so put on your thinking cap and sit down in your thinking chair and think, think, thiiiiink.

remember the iso from earlier that you got through your very legal copy? go back there and right-click on it to open the drop-down menu. the top option should say Mount. click that and it'll open a new drive, don't worry, we'll get rid of that at the end once you've dumped your game

the reason why you need to mount the iso is because it tricks your disc dumper into thinking you loaded a perfectly legal copy of your game into a blu-ray drive, when in reality you're a filthy pirate that likes getting uncharted games for free instead of 70 dollars a legally paying customer because you'd never pirate games... right?

now open the disc dumper. if you're using disc dumper windows, it should automatically detect your "disc" and begin to dump it. otherwise, do whatever your dumper needs to do in order to find the "disc."

once it is finished, look wherever your dumper put it (disc dumper windows puts it in the folder with disc dumper exe) and grab the folder containing your game. this is a 100% bonafide usable game and you can put it into your emulator

step 4: cleanup

you may have noticed that even though you dumped the game, the iso drive is still there. we are about to solve this problem.

right click on the drive to open the drop-down menu and find the option that says Eject

yeah that's it, easy as that. if you want you can delete the original .zip file and the folder that was contained in that as well as the iso contained in that

finish and additional notes

congratulations, you can now put your ps3 game into your emulator and play (unless it's far cry 4, then you'll be playing the textures of pac-man but somehow worse)

one thing i wanted to say is that this is not a guide for emulation, but rather for dumping the legal games SO you can emulate
