I – The Basics
All set to begin your life as a wandering armor merchant but not sure what to do or how to actually get started? Look no further. We’ll go over the basics; refining ore, buying schematics, and then putting it all together. This guide assumes you’ve turned in one of your shiny crafting tokens to the Armorsmith, who can be found near the well, inside the building with the scavenging bench outside. (The Weaponsmith is around the corner under the red canopy if you believe that profession might be your cup of tea as well. Another recommended secondary trade is Leatherworker for subcomponents and more armor to make.) Completing the simple introductory quest will net you your first schematic: Basic Ore Refining.

How do I find ore? Ore is a resource node found out in the world near rock outcrops, cliff formations, and inside caves. The resource node you’ll be looking for is Asherite Ore Deposit and it looks like a dirt mound with dark crystals in it. They can come in various sized deposits. You may run across another ore type called Caspilrite, which you’ll be needing alongside asherium to smelt into ashen bronze eventually. Another resource to keep an eye out for is Flame Lilies and Moon Lilies. You'll need the Flame Lilies to have alchemists make Flameseed Oil for Ashen Bronze smithing, the Moon Lilies you'll need much later but they are very uncommon so grab them when you see them. Helpful hint: harvest maple trees, tattered hides, and jute plants. You can sell them to other crafters or exchange them for ore. Remember, this is a social MMO. Players helping other players is a core concept.

What do I do with my asherite ore? Now that you’re weighed down with a pack full of nice shiny ore you’ll need to lug it back to the smelting station. Open the station, select the Basic Ore Refining recipe and smelt all your raw ore into asherium lumps. (Please note that any ore you find in the wild will need smelted using this exact recipe and that if you have a different ore to smelt you’ll simply remove the ore loaded in the smelter by right clicking it and then load the ore you want to smelt by right clicking it from your inventory. Alternatively, if you only have one ore to smelt it loads automatically.) You will receive Lumps of Asherium, which will require further refining to process into bars. The smelting process yields byproducts. Sell the rock salt to other crafters. Keep the bismuth, eventually you'll need it for iron smithing. Next we'll need to purchase the Asherium Bar recipe. You'll use this recipe to refine Lumps of Asherium into Asherium Bars. Once you have a good stock of those it's time to make some armor!
II – Making Armor
That brings us to our next step: buying the proper schematics. Visit the Armorsmith inside the building again and we’ll be purchasing a number of recipes. I hope you’ve been saving your money. If not, try selling materials to other players. The schematics we’ll be buying are the Asherium Novice “X” Basis, with “X” being Helm, Gloves, Tunic, etc. There are seven basis patterns for armor and one for kite shields. We’ll also be purchasing the Asherium Plate Recipe, Asherium Armor Reinforcement recipe, Asherium Rivet recipe, Asherium Kite Shield Blank, and Shield Brace recipe.

While you’re busy weeping over the money this is costing you, you might as well buy the final assembly recipes. There are seven armor patterns named Crude Splinted Leather “X” and one Crude Asherium Kite Shield. Buy them all. Now we’re ready to get down to business.

Each piece of armor you want to make will require 3 components. 1 Novice Basis, 1 Novice Armor Reinforcement and 1 Asherium Rivet. Novice Basis requires 1-3 Asherium Plates and 1 Tattered Leather Panel. Novice Armor Reinforcements require 1 Asherium Plate (Improved Armor Reinforcements require 1 Tattered Leather Strips as well). The leather components can be purchased from the Supplier merchant near the forge or bought from a Leatherworker. You can make your own rivets from bars or buy them from the supplier. One bar yields three rivets, each armor piece you make will require one.
III – Advanced Secrets of the Trade
Now that you have it all figured out you’re ready to make some money! Don’t expect to make a fortune selling the basic crude armor. Players want that stat gear. How do I get that? Tier 1 Advanced recipes come from treasure chests out in the wild. Fortunately for us they are tradeable. Right now in Early Access things are a bit confused. Luckily for you I have paved the way and have put in the work to figure out what’s what. There are two different armor sets with different stats that come from the Thronefast region: Brigandine and Heavy Scale. Each piece has a fixed stat and requires a different dust along with Improved Armor Reinforcements instead of the regular one. Rumors swirl about different sets being found in other regions and in perilous places. The village of Demith may also be able to advance your knowledge.
IV - Miscellaneous Information
Number of bars required to forge each piece (excluding rivets):

Helm, Pauldrons, Wrist, Hands, Feet = 4 bars each
Chest = 8 bars
Leggings = 6 bars
Shield = 8 bars

You can figure the amount of plates needed per piece by dividing the number of bars by two. Each piece is one plate for the armor reinforcement and the rest go to the basis.

Cost per piece with Supplier bought component materials:

Asherium Rivet: 10cp
Tattered Leather Strips: 10cp
Tattered Leather Panel: 1sp 47cp
Total: 1sp 67cp

Thanks for reading! I hope this guide is of use to all you budding armorsmiths out there.
