Quick note, these are pages of a book found in-game, is accessible easily, from the beginning, right on the designing table.

It is not always best to combine all ores in the crucible before smelting. Look at a guide for this,

Also, it will look like some lengths are not accounted for, like 41, 42 and 43cm or anything between 15.75 and 17.33inch handles. This is because the book is using the length of the Handle and the Pommel combined, not just the handle itself. So, that means it's handle length + 4cm or 1.57in. All Pommels are the same length by the game's standards.

Because of this, you will find a One-Handed Sword handle is 0-36cm or 0-14.17inch in practice, without accounting for the Pommel. A weapon with a 36.01cm+ or 14.18inch+ handle and a blade within One-Handed Sword length will be a Horse Chopper. You can view a weapon's actual type during the Design, or after assembly by holding it and pressing " I ". Best to make a backup save before assembly if you're not sure.
