*Most important step* Making a back-up
How to make a back-up

To easily find your save file, you are first going to press the Windows key + R.
Then you must type/paste "%appdata%\StardewValley\Saves"

Now, find the player you want to enable cheats on, and double click on that file.
The file will look something like "PlayerName_123456789".
*EDIT* In the new update, your file is going to look like "FarmName_123456789"

Now, after accessing the file, DO NOT CHANGE ANY TEXT, simply save the file under a new name, and place it in a new folder away from your SDV files.
I personally just made a new folder under "SDV backup" for my backup files to go into, so I can easily find it in the future.

This is important because ANY cheat input has a chance to irreparably destroy your save file.
Do not use cheats on a file you are sentimental on, especially if you recklessly ignore this step.

Neither ConcernedApe or I, are responsible for any damage cheating may cause to your game, but I will try my best to make using cheats as easy as possible.
Enabling cheat codes in your file.
Going back to step 1, we are going to press the Windows key + R, typing in " %appdata%\StardewValley\Saves ", and go back to the save file of the player you want to edit.

After opening up the file in notepad, you must find the line of code to enable cheats.
Thankfully, you can easily find it by pressing Ctrl + F, and typing in "ChatCheats".
Press the down arrow to the right of the magnifying class, and it will highlight the line of code you are looking for.

After you find " <allowChatCheats>false< ", you will be changing "false" to "true".

Now save the .txt document in it's original folder.

Note: If "ChatCheats" doesn't appear, try opening the file next to the last one you clicked.
If you have an file prior to the newest update, it may look something like "InsertPlayerNamehere_123456789"
or
"InsertFarmNamehere_123456789"
Opening the cheat UI
Open Steam and enter Stardew Valley.

Select the save file you have enabled cheats on, and press "T" to open the chat.

This is where you will be typing in all of your commands.
List of commands (warping)
The basics of warping without totems

/warp <location>
warps you to selected location (i.e farm, mines, volcano)

/warphome
warps you back home, next to your snuggly bed.

/world_downminelevel
Goes down one mine level. If not in the mines, it then warps you to the first mine level.

/debug volcano <level>
Warp to a specific Volcano Dungeon floor

/world_setminelevel
Warps you to the given mine level. This can be the regular mines (levels 1–120), Skull Cavern (121+), or Quarry Mine (77377).

Example: world_setminelevel 10
would send you to level 10 of the regular mines

(this section is not yet finished, I will be adding more once I figure it out!)
List of commands (Skills)
Beefing up your player stats

/debug levelup <skill> <level>

Note: Put the number correlating to the skill you want to increase (or decrease, I'm not judging)

List of commands (Money/Items)
Item Menus

/backpack 36

This fully upgrades your backpack, giving you all the space you need for the items you're about to exploit!

WARNING: some items CANNOT be removed once put into your inventory, this is a warning to have a back-up save before messing with the code!
Most save files cannot be salvaged once they're broken, and I most likely do not have the answer to whatever breaks your game.

Note: if you run into an item that you can't take out of your inventory, simply close the game without going to sleep. It's better to lose the day you worked on rather than lose an inventory slot for the rest of the game.

You cannot adjust the quality by using this menu

/debug iq ALL_ITEMS

/debug iq ALL_ITEMS (T)

Money cheats
/money #

This changes the amount of money you are carrying, this one gets a little tricky.
Let's say you are holding 100,000 gold, if you want to give yourself 50,000, making the sum 150,000, you will have to type in the command as "/money 150000", because it changes your money to whatever amount you put in.

/debug specials
Adds special items to your wallet

/debug clearspecials
Remove special items from your wallet
Spawning Items and how to adjust quality
To spawn in items with more than just base quality, you will be entering this command

/debug item [ID] [Quantity] [Quality]

Example: If I wanted to get the monoculture achievement by spawning in 300 iridium eggplants, I would type in
" /debug item (O)272 300 4 "
272 being the eggplant, 300 being the amount, and 4 being the quality.

The quality index goes like

Number
Quality
0
Base
1
Silver
2
Gold
4
Iridium
Item ID's 1-599 (pt 1)
WARNING: some items CANNOT be removed once put into your inventory, this is a second warning to have a back-up save before messing with the code!

Help! How do I easily find an Item ID?
Don't worry, ConceredApe thought about you, too.

You can easily find the item ID by typing in
"/debug getindex [itemname]"

So if you're trying to find the ID for an eggplant, you will type in
"/debug getindex eggplant"

and the system will respond back

"The qualified Item ID is (O)272".

Easy!

I'm not sure if this will affect your mods already installed, so it's understandable to play it safe rather than sorry. But with that being said, there isn't anything you download, you're just fiddling with the code to activate the cheats already in the game. so there's no chance for viruses :)
Cookie <3 16. Apr. um 14:04
I'm terrified to do any step cuz I'm scared it'll f**k up my mods and my stardew valley gameplay. And put a virus in my computer. Sorry, I'm a scaredy-cat.
Amoeba  [Autor] 17. Feb. um 19:03
Hi everyone! I'm currently working on an updated list of commands.
You all can expect this to be finished by 12/18/25 12 PM EST.

To answer the question on how to get the items for the community center, try typing " /debug newmuseumloot ", and it should give you the items required to complete the community center.

Thank you all for your questions and contributions :cinnamon2:
Amoeba  [Autor] 17. Feb. um 10:36
I’ll do some looking to see, but for now the only way I know to “cheat” the community center is to open up the item menu and manually pick out the items.
It’s a little tedious but easier than farming and foraging for an in-game year.
asher.walker 17. Feb. um 10:00
Is there a command for completing the community center?
Amoeba  [Autor] 19. Jan. um 8:57
Hi Adriana! That actually answers why I couldn't figure out the issue, the code to turn on the cheats probably just isn't in the old files. I personally do not believe that there's a solution to this issue beyond making a new file that looks like your old farm :(
adriana 18. Jan. um 19:42
Hi! I was wondering if you ever found a fix for the problem with the save file missing "ChatCheats"? I'm trying to use them on an already existing farm and made sure the game is running on the right version. I was hoping to use my original farm, since this isn't an issue if you start a new save file.
Amoeba  [Autor] 9. Jan. um 15:23
After some poking and prodding at files, I have no idea what either of you could be facing.

If either of you would like to add me to send me screenshots of your problem, I would be happy to try and help.

I've made new test files with the Dec. 20th update, the only place I can't locate "ChatCheats" is on the SaveGameInfo file, which why I assumed that was the issue.

Best of luck to anyone using this guide!
Amoeba  [Autor] 9. Jan. um 11:44
I’ll get to trying to fix this as soon as I’m near my PC, thank you all for letting me know!
