Downgrading HoloCure before Greed stamp patch/Marine pre-nerf (11/19/2024)

Guide on how to revert HoloCure back to the 11/16 build so you can use Marine and the Greed stamp before it was nerfed.

Downgrade Guide for HoloCure

Here's what you can do to revert the update to a previous build. Disclaimer: Minor knowledge of how to navigate the Windows filesystem is required.

You may want to make a backup of your HoloCure configuration/save, the local save is found here:

C:\Users[YOURUSERNAME]\AppData\Local\HoloCure

For you Power Users, you can use Windows menu --> Run --> %localappdata%\HoloCure to get to it

1) Go to your steamapps folder. It's usually located in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps

2) Look for the file appmanifest_2420510.acf - BACK THIS FILE UP.

4) Unzip and copy the .acf file that is in this zip to the folder mentioned above: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps

NOTE: THIS FILE HAS THE READ-ONLY FLAG TURNED ON. YOU WILL NEED TO TURN THIS OFF TO DELETE IT ONCE YOU WANT TO GO BACK TO THE CURRENT VERSION

5) Go here and download my archived HoloCure version and unzip the zip file to wherever temporary, like your Desktop: https://mega.nz/file/bINHjQbC#W23sHhjnKYnvPFEMv6gJ9Pr-HapfZHwNmpTg-AfCzTI

The zip file will unzip as a folder named "HoloCure v0.7.1731788463"

6) Go to where HoloCure is installed, this is usually: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\HoloCure

Back this folder up and set it aside. This is an optional step you can do to save a bit of time but is not required.

7) Open the "HoloCure v0.7.1731788463" folder and copy ALL the files in that folder to your HoloCure installation location

8) Enter Steam offline mode. (Steam menu --> Go Offline)

9) Play the game.

10) Ensure the build number on the upper right says "version 0.7.1731788463". This version came out in the 16th that had a bunch of bug fixes after the initial 15th update.

11) When you're done, quit the game, then you can go back into online mode.

12) When you go into Online mode, I believe Steam syncs any progress you made in the game with your Cloud save, including achievements, etc. Else it may say your Cloud Data is out of sync. To sync it, just click the message that says that in your Library. It should be to the right of the "Play" button.

MAKE SURE TO ALWAYS GO INTO OFFLINE MODE BEFORE STARTING HOLOCURE IF YOU DO NOT WANT IT TO UPDATE

To uninstall/undo this and update HoloCure to the current version:

1) Go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps

2) Click on Properties for appmanifest_2420510.acf. Uncheck "Read-Only". Delete it or move it out of the above folder.

3) Restore your backup .acf file - you kept your backup right?

4) Go into Online mode if you're not online yet.

5) You can either launch HoloCure as-is as Steam will auto-update it to the current version or simply move these old version files into a separate folder and bring back the files from your backup from Step 6. The current version as of the time of this writing (11/19/2024, less than 1 day after Kay Yu released the Greed stamp nerf) is v0.7.1732011361

This is not intended to be a long term solution. I'll try to keep the upload available for as long as possible but if you're reading this years in the future we've probably moved on to later versions of this game.

This is a stopgap to allow people to take advantage of this Greed/Marine money bling bling. I strongly suggest upgrading back to the current version once you're done as Kay Yu probably fixed a whole bunch of other bugs that you may not even be aware of.

Just go to "steam://nav/console", run the command "download_depot 2420510 2420511 1788083944997717651" then make a copy of your holocure folder and replace the files in the original with the files in the location specified after the command has finished downloading. when you want to revert back, just replace the files with the original. This method will work forever, as download_depot can download any version of any game that you have access to.
