The basics of Gleba
От Tat011
To the victor, the spoils!
You've had your fun playing on those other yummyless planets, now's the time to suffer on Gleba.
But what if you don't want the pain of a thousand bad design choices inflicted on your neurons?
Well I can't make Gleba good but I can make your stay more tolerable by giving you the basics you can get established easier.

How do I get seeds????
If you don't want to keep running out of seeds you'll need to process fruit in a biochamber, preferably with productivity modules.
You unlock the biochamber by "researching" the biochamber technology by crafting 10 nutrients (you need to harvest both tree types to unlock the biochamber tech)
I have no iron/copper????
Surprise! You barely get anything from processing fruits into metal, you need to grab that bacteria and cultivate it in a biolab to make more if you actually wanna go anywhere.
You need bacteria cultivation tech for this which requires you to craft bioflux which requires a biochamber.
Biochamber?
Biochambers are pretty straight forward, they are like assemblers but need nutrients to work and you need them for everything organic on Gleba.
There is one thing that's easy to miss which is that they don't use electricity and use nutrients as a replacement, what this means is that modules that cause a change in electrical consumption cause a change in nutrient consumption in Biochambers.
Nutrients????
Yeah so you might have noticed you'll need one morbillion ever precious nutrients if you don't want your factory to completely stop, you'll want to get ever precious nutrients from spoilage (made in an assembler and not a biochamber) so you'll always be able to produce it and also from bioflux (in a biochamber) since it's the only efficient way to mass produce the stuff.
I'd recomment you transport the stuff via robots to save yourself a headache and a half.
Power?
Devs want you to use the Holy Heating Tower so you'll use the Holy Heating Tower, unless you import uranium I guess.
Sacrifice your exess stuff into the Holy Heating Tower, spoilage and seeds are the things you should be burning the most and you should also set it up so that rocket fuel is sacrificed to it if the heat that gives your factory life gets too low.
Despite the 50% penalty you'll want to place solar panels to make getting back to production easier in the event of a power outage (unless you want to move everything through burner inserters).
Oil?
There's no oil but you can make most oil solids from spoilables.
You can’t make explosives though as that requires coal. (Gleba tech will later allow you to make it from carbon/sulfur)
Stompers??? What the ♥♥♥♥???
Yeah so Stompers can ignore most geometry and kill an entire factory wing in a few seconds so you'll need one trillion turrets everywhere, good luck!
You'll want bullet turrets since the devs force you to use them with resistances and you can't use flamers... or mines... but hey you can import tesla turrets! If you can't do that and don't have the iron for constant bullets (which chances are you won't in the early and midgame) you might have to settle for laser turrets. Either way invest in turret DMG tech.
You also can stall Stompers indefinitely with a shielded tank and repair packs since they can't hit bots, you should use this same tank to run over all nest in your spore cloud to significantly reduce the attacks you get.
You'll succeed in automating defense when you deal so much damage they fall over before they break anything.
Eggs?
You get eggs from spawners and stomper shells, you can duplicate them with nutrients and need to for science.
You should keep turrets around areas with eggs since they spoil into enemies and have a system where eccess eggs get Holy Heating Towered
Spoil times.
Yumako mash: 3 minutes
Jelly: 4 minutes
Nutrients: 5 minutes
Pentapod egg: 15 minutes
Yumako/Jellynut/Gleba science pack: 1 hour
Bioflux: 2 hours
Conclusion.
Become one with the swamp or it'll eat you.

Teslas absolutely shred stompers since they hit them multiple times at once, the electricity chains through their legs, with my current electric damage (level 7 I believe) two teslas are enough to oneshot a medium stomper, probably multiple of them because of chaining.

About burning eggs in the heating towers... bruh. I didn't know that was possible. I simply built a Tesla pit where I throw them all. Works wonderfully though.

With just seeds, my single heating tower seems to be at 1000C at any given time. If I knew this before setting my nuclear power plant, I may have tried it. Still, I have more power than I'll ever need in Gleba (480MW) and it only consumes 72 fuel cells per hour.

About the nutrients, one easy solution is using efficiency modules in every machine. Now nutrients consume 5 times slower, making it much easier to manage.

Alright, thank you guys!

I've run Gleba with quality modules, so here's tips I personally have with them:
-The earlier you are in the production chain, the better to stick them in
-You still need lower quality for certain items, but since quality modules don't make everything quality, you'll still have the lower quality you need for them
-If you can find loops in the chain, you can exploit them to go up to max quality. Examples are the eggs, bacteria cultivation, & spoilage->nutrient recipes, it just takes several cycles
-You can make higher quality items from the same quality items without mods. This is useful for items you can guarantee a steady flow of high quality nutrients
-Trees don't get quality

I don't use quality but my guess is it's the most valuable to use quality on the science packs cuz you get more science per pack AND a higher spoil timer which also means you get more science per pack + making the system more forgiving.

I want to make a quality farm on Gleba, because I hate myself and need to experience pain to feel alive. Where are the best places to add quality modules so I can start crafting quality spoilables?

Biochamber consumes nutrients and that recipe makes 1 nutrient so you'll barely produce more than you consume with it even if you fill it with productivity modules.
If you use an assembler you'll not consume any and produce the 1 nutrient + the productivity module bonus.

Hi! Just wanna ask why the assembling machine would be more fficient than the biochamber when it comes to getting nutrients from spoilage? Thanks!

What do you mean exactly? I just used belts. The only noteworthy consideration here is you want the tower inventory to be always empty cuz it cant extract fruits if its not
Zinkaghost 21 ноя. 2024 г. в 19:04
whats the best way to get fruit from the agricultural towers to the plant for processing?
Tat011  [создатель] 18 ноя. 2024 г. в 14:02
Kinda? I did it mostly cuz this planet has the steepest learning curve and that adds yet another layer of frustration to it.
