Q&A before starting
Q: How many things I have to collect in Arlathan Forest?
A: There are a total of 11 normal chests, 2 Lyrium chests and 7 Altars.

Q: Can I start as soon as I reach Arlathan Forest?
A: Yes, however, I recommend to start after you've completed the following quests as they unlock paths to the majority of the level which will make it easier to collect in one go.
1. Echoes of the Past (Bellara)
2. How to train a Griffon (Davrin)
3. An Unfamiliar Sense (Harding)
4. A Friend in Need (Davrin)

Be aware that you can collect only 10 normal chests, 2 Lyrium chest and all altars with the above aknowledges. The rest will unlock once you reach Bellara's and Davrin's second outing, so keep that in mind.

Keep in mind that the chests were made in no particular order, I just took screenshots as I explored Arlathan Forest.
Chest #1
Location:
This will unlock after you've completed Harding's first Outing.

Puzzle:
To unlock the door, go behind the structure and use Bellara or Neve (or the dagger if they're not in your party) ability to break the seal.
Chest #2
Location:
From previous chest, move north to the map, it's the next chest appearing on the map below.

Puzzle:
You will need to move some stones with Harding's ability and reach atop.
Chest #3
Location:

Puzzle:
First, take this crystal from its socket.
Move forward after the barrier goes offline and place the crystal in this socket to unlock path to the crystal beam.
Use the crystal beam thingy and move it to the far right to have a path to the other crystal beam.
After that, take the crystal away again and place it to the socket behind it.
After that, push down this balance beam to unlock another path to the crystal beam.
Remove the crystal from the socket again.
Reach the crystal beam thingy from the other side of the balance beam and point the crystal beam to this socket.
Now remove the crystal from its socket to remove the barrier.
Chest #4
Location:
From previous chest location, move north again to this location.

Puzzle:
Use Bellara's ability to repair the socket.
Then reach this beam on the other side and point it at the repaired socket. A path will be created to reach the chest.
Chest #5
Location:
This chest is found at the beach in the middle northern side of the level.

Puzzle:
Use Bellara's ability to repair this socket and place the crystal in the repaired socket.
Doing this will place a barrier that will block the crystal beam.
Chest #6
Location:
Once you reach this place in Ruins Reach, go right of the Wolf statue and there you will find the chest.
Chest #7
Location:
Reach this location on the Ancient Aqueduct.
And move across to this location. It's a pretty straight forward path.
Chest #8
Location:
This location will open after Davrin's first outing, so you can reach this chest right after completing that.
Chest #9
Location:
This chest is located near chest 7, so go back to the Ancient Aqueduct again.

Puzzle:
Go to this zipline.
Cross it and take the crystal off of its socket to take the barrier down.
Move the crystal to this crystal beam and activate it (it's left from the previous location).
Now move the beam to this socket.
A new path will be unlocked to reach the chest.
Chest #10
Location:
This Chest is tied to an Owl statue that is found in this location.

Solution:
You need to talk twice with the Owl statue and a fade bomb will spawn.
Activate and let the fade bomb explode, which in turn will break the wall.
Now you have a path to the chest.
Chest #11
Prerequisite: "Unwanted Guests" quests must be completed.

Go to this location:

Solution:
Defeat the Pride and its demons.
Then interact with the note on the bed.
Now rotate all 6 statues to face the purple glowing monument.

Statue 1
Statue 2
Statue 3
Statue 4
Statue 5
Statue 6

Defeat the Rage Demon to get access to the chest.
Lyrium Chest #1
Location:
Reach this location in the Waterfront Glades.

Puzzle:
Take this crystal away.
Place the crystal in this socket to activate the crystal beam. Point the crystal beam to this socket.
After that, move to this second crystal beam and point it to this socket to activate another crystal beam.
Now move where this new crystal beam is and point it towards this crystal socket.
Now move to the third location found here.
Activate the crystal beam and point it towards this socket.
The final product should look similar to this and a path will unveal for you to reach the Lyrium Chest.
Lyrium Chest #2
Location:
Reach this location in the Tainted Woods.

Puzzle:
In this building, you will need to destroy all the blight pustules.
After that, you will need to reach this area.
Once you destroy the blight around the frame, a path will open up to reach a chest.
Altar #1
Location:
This can be found in the same location with Chest #4, Mystical Tower.

Solution:
Move the crystal beam to this other socket to unlock the path to the Altar.
To activate the altar, just get near it and interact with it.
Then go back to where you've came from and a Wolf spirit will be close to where the floating bridge is, just below the crystal beam.
Altar #2
Location:
Reach this location in Shadowy Grove.

Solution:
Move through this hallway and while inside, take a left (or right if you come through the other side).
Activate the Altar.
Once active, the Wolf spirit will be in this location.
Altar #3
Location:
Reach the beach middle up north.

Solution:
Activate the Altar found here.
Then you'll need to destroy some floating rotating triangles.
Destroy them to complete the Altar.
Altar #4
Location:
Reach the same location you've found Chest #6.

Solution:
Take a right of the Wolf statue and it's sitting just upwards of where the chest is.
Activate the Altar and a set of 4 floating rotating triangles will spawn.
Destroy them to complete the Altar.
Altar #5
Location:
Reach the same location Chest #7 was.

Solution:
Cross the path like this and activate the Altar.
The altar will spawn 4 floating rotating triangles.
Destroy them to complete the Altar.
Altar #6
Location:
The altar is found close to where Special Chest #2 was.

Solution:
Reach this location and activate the altar.
The altar will spawn 3 floating rotating triangles.
Destroy them to complete the altar.
Altar #7
Location:
This altar is also close to Altar #6 and Special Chest #2.

Solution:
You need to hit these barrels to demolish this wall.
Once the wall is destroyed, reach the Altar and activate it.
The Wolf spirit will be revealed.

For me the chest 5 crystal is on the other side of tha jump but when I use the dagger to get over I cannot bring the crystal with me as I just get stuck no matter what I try.

If you're talking about the barrier in Waterfront Glades, just teleport to the fast travel point in the aforementioned area, the power crystal is just above this point. You cross it be disabling the metal gate (there's a lever right next to it) and using the metal beam

There shouldn't be any barrier blocking your path to reach the Lyrium Chest #2. To cross the water just follow the u-shape (keep it left, across the Altar), there will be a power crystal next to a camp fire next to the edge, close to the Fen'Harel altar.

How do you get across the water by the second lyrium chest where the faded glories blight boss was. Theres a magic sealed door on the right side too. Driving me insane.

Thank you. I'll have to get to it eventually, I have in plan to get the other locations in Thedas first before I reach that point in the story to update this one.
Good to keep in mind!

Chest 11 is in the middle of Arlathan, hidden behind a puzzle with the 5 statues. Same location as chest #6
