How to go from Maya to Blender

This guide will show you how to switch the blender controls to maya controls and behaviors.

What is needed

Make sure you have the following:

• Blender
  
• Ability to read

Navigating to settings in blender

Open up blender, and look for the "Edit" button in the top left corner of the screen and click on it.



Should look like the image above

Then, you want to hit "Preferences" at the bottom of that menu.



That should pull up the menu above in a new window

This is your blender settings page

Changing the controls and behaviors

Now, in this settings windows, navigate down to "keymap"

Now, next to the "import" button, there shhould be a button just titled "Blender", click that and a popdown appears where you will then select "Industry Compatible"



Close out of that window and you should be all set.

Blender now behaves like Maya with its controls and tools.
