Locations of every Golden Tortoise beetle, Monarch Butterfly, and Scan.

Intro

This guide will cover all collectibles in each mission of the game. It will also mention missions without collectibles in passing. This guide contains SPOILERS for the locations and missions in Empire of the Ants, and is intended to be used after you have enjoyed the story of the game, and are going back for the collectibles.

Pictures are only provided for the locations of Golden Tortoise Beetles, because the rest are generally located in obvious spots along the beaten path, or in some cases, literally required to beat the mission. As much as I would love to embed the pictures here, steam does not allow images over 2mb, and cropping would only make it more difficult to find the beetles. I also couldn't find a website to reduce the quality of the images that wasn't limited to less than 30 images.

Missions are sorted in Golden Tortoise Beetles collection entry order, then Scans collection entry order.

Yes, you can replay each mission, and yes you will have to start from the beginning of the mission. The mission select doesn't tell you if you're missing a butterfly but it will tell you about other collectables, IIRC.

Hi Great guide. I wanna ask if you are done with the main story and you want to do mop up of the remaining collectable. Do the mission select show how many collectable you have missed in each mission? And if you select a mission would you need to replay said mission from start to finish in order for it to regiter that you have found the collectable?

Otherwise I think it might just be smartest go get it all from the beginning.

Killing to unite took me around twenty minutes to find the beetle. The hardest beetle for me was actually "Restoring the first outpost". I didn't realize the warbling noise from the ladybugs and pillbugs was the exact same sound as the tortoise beetle, and spent 45 minutes in the wrong area of the map entirely. You definitely start seeing things when you've been looking for a beetle for that long.

The amount of times i have false hope and depression from mistaking a bump on a rock or a weirdly colored part of a map for a golden beetle is insane, i can finally collect the golden beetle from killing to unite.
